@SholtoPinn: hey, man, don’t be disrespectful. :

Who’s this SholtoPinn you all are referring to? I don’t see a post by this user.

^ Somebody who said something pretty rude, and had been posting offensive things on other areas of the site, so I guess they got banned?

He’s a ■■■■■ from other parts of the forum. His post got removed, that’s all.

Do you guys have any teachers who are just…bad?

My Alg II and Comp Programming teacher is pretty bad…all he does is just say what problems to do in math sorta says how to do somethings but he mumbles…and then just goes back to his computer. He does the same thing in Comp Programming except he tells us to just “read pages x-x” or “Make this” and hands out instructions etc.

I mean, I have no problem with the classes like this, but he is just so boring and confusing at times.

My Algebra II teacher makes us read the textbook to learn it. He won’t explain it to us at all. He says it makes us learn it better. I’ve just been trying to find the Khanacademy video on it, since I am not capable of learning MATH without being taught. Anything else I can do, but not math, my worst subject.

From APUSH: Read Chapter 4 (which is like, 60 pages), read pages 35-47 in BG (a book we have), study for 2 quizzes and take them, read some sample essays on College Board, write a 2 page essay, watch 2 powerpoints and write discusssion sheets for each, and…oh yeah…STAY SANE.

AP Lang: Read 3 articles and write a 2 page paper on them.

Guess which class I like better? :D

Wooooooow, I would die if my APUSH teacher gave me that much work for one night. We have to read one or two chapters (about 30 pages each), outline it, and make 50 flashcards, ONCE a week.

@iwaitz4u: Learning math by just reading is so hard for me. I need a teacher there. I tried to learn the unit circle this summer, but couldn’t seem to learn it. I know that I will learn it in Precal before the school year is over with.

Anybody have anything interesting going on outside of school? I have some marching band competitions coming up soon, but besides that, I have no life as of now.

I have a history jeopardy competition coming up soon. There are four people competing, including myself. It is on the founding of America, 1492-the end of the War of 1812. We’re up the the American Revolution in APUSH, so I think I might be able to cram from my textbook… so that’ll be fun. There is a $200 prize if I win, so I invested in AMSCO.

My Sophomore schedule:

Choir (FUN!)

Computational Physics / AP Physics B (Not actual AP class but covers all the material. Only sophomore.)

American Literature (11th Grade Honors English. Only sophomore.)

AP World History (This class shall be the death of me. I hate reading history textbooks!)

Latin 2 (Amazing teacher. Zone out during class, but still get 100% on tests.)

AP Chemistry (Only Sophomore. I’m all alone!)

APs: World History
Chemistry
Calc BC (self)
Physics B (self)
Psychology (self)

Preparing for USAPhO, USNCO, AMC, Brain Bee, Debate.

I am also tutroing kids, volunteering at hospital, other volunteering clubs, BPA, HOSA, and other competitions.

Sophomore Year = Hell, but in the end, will be worth it.

My AP World teacher said we will take a mock AP Test every Friday… smh

@Sagar: Before you prepare too much, you do realize that USNCO is a very restrictive test, don’t you? As in, there are some convoluted rules that don’t allow you to take other olympiad tests if you take the USNCO test (or something like that). Look it up before you waste precious time. :D

@iwaitz4u

How long have you been in school :? This is my 3rd week coming up and were only Jamestown and early colonization era still…I think were behind.

Hello everyone, I am very interested in genetics, and science to be more broad. I want to act on these interests and I was wondering if it would be to informal to contact a local professor and ask to participate in a research project he or she is involved with. I understand that I would not have a main role in the research, but I at least want to help out in some way just so I can observe. Have any of you ever done something like this? Also, I was thinking about starting my own research and asking a professor to be a mentor. I think that route is a little bit more common. Please let me know your past experiences or thoughts!!

Are any of you reading a book right now for your respective English classes? I’m reading Huckleberry Finn, and it’s surprisingly charming.

I’m reading Beowulf (and 1984 for independent reading). The former has been pretty entertaining so far.

I don’t have math right now, finished Multi in freshman year. Soph year’s chem/phys oly will be meh. I’m mainly focusing on MOSP qualification. Also doing science fair, but that’s not much.

^That’s insanely impressive. Congratulations. How did you complete multivariable calculus your freshman year?

Speechless. I wish I had that opportunity. Life is just not fair.
