Well, I forgot my French homework in my locker, which is ticking me off. I also have a 104 in English.

That’s all I got.

Well, I forgot my French homework in my locker, which is ticking me off. I also have a 104 in English.

That’s all I got.

School sucks.

That’s my contribution for today…

^I concur. I had an awfully stressful day today after having just 4 hours of sleep. It was awful. And stressful.

I feel like I’m spreading myself too thin. Tons of clubs, hard classes, and difficult ECs (USABO anyone?). It’s going to be a very tough year.

This year is going to be rough. /: I’m doing too much academically and EC wise.

I’m living on four hours sleep a lot of the time too. CAFFEINE.

Like everyone else, I feel like that I’m spreading myself too thin also. I have to prepare for the SAT, learn music for marching band, finish homecoming advertisements, study, and do homework. I ran on 2 1/2 hours of sleep because my neighbor’s dog got loose from its cage and was barking at the AC system (which is right near my window) all night, but I was so pumped today!

But, I am way more motivated to do better this year because this is a stage of my academic career that can be greatly improved. I have a 100 in Honors Physics, a 102.5 in Honors Chemistry, at least a 97 in Honors Precalculus, and a 98 in Health Sciences 1.

So yeah, I’m struggling but prospering. Kinda like an oxymoron?

Well, I got a 71 on my first AP Physics test of the year. Really, really disappointing. It only motivates me more since the class is 80% tests and we only have 6 more tests until the semester ends. Which means I need to do pretty much perfect on every other test to get my test average to at least a 90. Surprisingly, I got full points on the AP styled questions, but one problem (worth about fifteen points) really messed me up because I read it wrong. Ah, oh well. Next time.

I’m doing well in everything else, but Physics is definitely my hardest class.

I just joined… My schedule
Period 2 (We start with p2 and end with p7) : English Honours 10
Period 3: AlgebraII/Trig H
Period 4: AP World
Period 5: AP Biology
Period 6: Play Production (Advanced Theater)
Period 7: Show Choir

Is anyone else feeling overwhelmed? I’ve always been in the highest level of classes possible, but this year, I’m all of a sudden already failing Bio and Alg II. Ive never come close to failing before, and everything is stressing me out. Is anyone else feeling like that or am I just not disciplined enough to handle everything??

After posting that I realized it might be smart to read everyone elses posts and the good news for me is that it seems like everyone else feels the same. Even though it looks like im the only one doing THIS bad, I’m still glad I’m not the only person living on caffeine and less than half the recommended sleep hours. I only have two or three friends with as rigorous a schedule as I do, but they arent in Choir or Dance or Theater, so they seem to have more time.

My schedule:

Honors english: I have a young teacher this year, she’s really chill and I feel like her classwork is actually useful.

AP Gov: I HATE this class. I dislike the subject very much and we have to do 1028479012749 pages of notes. Gotta take it in order to do IB History though…

Gym: Required class and very very easy. I can’t wait until next year when I don’t have to take it.

Chamber orchestra: My freshman year I got placed into the lowest orchestra by accident, and this year I’m finally in the highest one where I belong <3 We’re playing fun stuff already. Shostakovich String Quartet 8 is :3

Spanish 3: Eww spanish :c Gotta take it so I can take Ib spanish for the diploma though… why is IB so inflexible ugh ugh ugh

IB chem: Easy class.

IB Higher level math: I wish all the advanced math wasn’t based so much on algebra ;_; It’s the only part of math that I really have to study for and grind into my head. The teacher is awesome though and we don’t get much homework.

One problem I have though is that I procrastinate everything to the brink of it being late. When I get home I’m like I’ll do it later, then I keep on saying that, then it’s time for me to sleep so I say I’ll do it in the morning, then in the morning I wake up late and I have to do it on the bus/between classes/during class. Last year I somehow scraped by like this with final grades of all A’s except one B+ (the B+ class was my first period class.)

Any tips on how not to procrastinate?
I’m not gonna make it through AP gov like this.

@Satine: I’m not sure exactly what your situation is but I’m pretty stressed out too, because I procrastinate so much (see above.) Honestly if I could make myself do all my stuff when I get home I’d have no trouble at all with classes. What’s making you fail algebra and bio?

(see, i’m posting here instead of doing my homework OTL)

Out of all my classes this year, my hardest is definately theater tech and design. The teacher gave us a packet with at least 40 sheets for us to fill out to DESIGN THE ENTIRE MIDDLE SCHOOL PLAY. everything including the acts and scenes where props come in, from which side of stage they come in and who brings them, to a 3d model of the stage and all the cues for lighting and sound.

i work harder in this class than on all my other classes combined. and the sad part is that it’s an elective that i must do in order to get my art credits. I’m afraid i’ll probably get a B in this class, seeing as how this project done in groups is taking forever, and our finals will be to do the same except INDIVIDUALLY.

Its funny you say that, because procrastination and time management is my problem too!!! Last night I was procrastinating and went on here, and because i procrastinated so much ended up staying awake until 510 in the morning doing homework. well it wasnt all due to procrastination, but it mostly was. I also didnt understand some of what we were doing ( what is OTL?)

@Satie

I get up every day at 4:00 to do my homework because I procrastinate so much.

@iwaitz4u : haha oh my god really?? thats amazing!! i hope its not horrible of me too feel better about myself because you said that.
But I’m getting better. Today I started on my homework before 6!! i get home at 3:30 but only get a negligible amount of work done . What subject do you procrastinate most on? or is it just everything in general??

Sick. Damnit.

Haha I procrastinate more with less hw this year
nooooooot goooooood

Then again, like a great man once said: Procrastination makes Perfect! ~Dom Fera
And for me, sometimes, its true. But mostly… its not

Procrastination makes perfect procrastination for me anyway

I let myself avoid an assignment until the very last minute I can start it and still turn it in on time -__- This means for giant projects I get home and work the entire afternoon on it and into the night.

Has anyone had a college fair at your school yet? I had one today. I signed up for the mailing lists to NC State, UNC-Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, Elizabeth City State, Elon, and Campbell. I’m sad that Duke wasn’t there, but no one has been accepted to Duke from my school in about 3-4 years. Those are the seven schools I’m looking at for in-state and I’m looking at Emory, Wash U, William and Mary, and UVa as my OOS schools.

So, what are your top 10 schools that you are looking at?

@Evanb: There’s a college fair here, too, but I don’t think I’ll be attending.

As for my top ten colleges, I have:

Instate:

UVA
William and Mary

OOS:

HYPSM
UChicago
Columbia
Duke

(If I could include more, I’d just rattle off the lower Ivies, add Caltech, and maybe a few others from the top 20.)

As far as preference goes, this is my top ten list, in order:

1) Harvard
2) Stanford or Yale
4) Princeton
5) MIT
6) Columbia
7) UChicago or Duke
9) UVA
10) William and Mary

What colleges do you guys most want to attend? Try to arrange a top ten list as I have above.
