High School Class of 2014

Well I have nothing to compare it to yet :p

God, I wish we had debate our school. I envy both of you, truly.

It is THE greatest thing I’ve decided to do. I LOVE it.

Maybe I’ll get to debate the great studious this year… :3

Btw have you ever done LD? I’m doing two november tournaments one LD one PF

@anaychi: Start a team! My sister started my school’s debate team, and it’s been a huge success!

@jereveparis: It’d be awesome if we debated each other! Trouble is, I tend to dislike many of the people I debate due to their annoying and irrational arguments (especially when the stupid arguments are presented with arrogance). Hopefully, though, you’ll be one of the select few I end up respecting! Lol. I’ve not done LD yet, but I plan to start this year!

Ahaha I imagine if we both stick with pf we will debate at some point. I understand what you mean I hate 3 of the 4 teams I debated yesterday and I feel bad saying that, but the last people I debated were effing ridiculous.

Is your school participating in the November 5th invitational?

I’m not sure. I’ll get back to you on that.

I’m competing jv then :)

AP World History
Yearbook
Geometry
Adv. Chemistry
English II
German IV
Study Hall (No room for AP Psych)

You all are so lucky to have debate. There are some amazing arguers (is that a word?) in my school. But, nobody wants to stay after school for it or anything and the school acts like clubs are only afternoon get togethers, when they could be really used for something useful which could bring cred or revenue to the school. Plus, we are struggling at the moment with test scores and hiring effective teachers.

So, I’m apparently joining my school’s speech team. Closest thing we have to debate, so it’ll be fun.

Just wondering, what is your main goal for this school year? My main goal is to get accepted into NCSSM.

Sent from my ADR6350 using CC App

Mine is to get close to straight A’s as possible, not including A-'s… I’ve never gotten it ever because there’s always this one class that’s an A- or B+. -_-

Second goal is to stop procrastinating until the morning the assignment’s due. lol

OMG.
Today we had the PSAT and I did so poorly I cannot begin to describe…

I don’t even want to see my scores when they arrive.
CR was brutal!!!

Main goal: Solidify my postition as valedictorian.

Secondary goals: AIME qualification, USABO semifinalist, 800s on SAT II Bio and Math II, make varsity for tennis.

To everyone: When is the best time to take SAT II tests? I haven’t talked to my guidance counselor about it, and until StudiousMaximus mentioned it, I haven’t even thought about them…

The best time to take SAT II’s is after you take their corresponding classes. For math II, that corresponding class is precalculus. For nearly every other subject test, the corresponding class is that subject’s AP class. Thus, if I want to be successful on my Bio SAT II, I should take it right after I take AP Bio (which I’m doing). If I wait until I’m a junior, the important concepts won’t be as fresh in my mind.

Hm, ok. AP Bio isn’t offered to sophomores in my school though, so I am hopefully taking it next year if its time frame is available in my schedule. Would you be able to take the bio SAT II and be successful after one year of a biology course (not AP)?

Anaychi, I agree with studious maximus! You should totally start a debate team-there are great resources online, and its loads of fun.

I do speech as well, and it’s a little less thinking heavy than debate-people can’t interrupt you and pull apart your arguments; it’s really based on presentation.

Are we still doing goals?

I think I’m taking the SAT this year (might as well, seeing junior year will be hell) and perhaps SAT 2 for Chem or bio and likely Math 2.

The problem is, I never did a formal precalc course, so i’m going to have to sparknote a lot of it :/.
