@sardonyx: Yes, it’s possible, but not recommended. I’ve heard of people studying CliffsNotes thoroughly and getting a 780-800 without taking the AP, but it’s definitely a risk. Therefore, I recommend you take the AP before you attempt the SAT II.

Anyone here aiming to take first PSATs next year? I’ll be in tenth grade, which seems like a good time to start gearing up for the SATs without suffering the possible consequences of low scores. Especially since I’m aiming to becoming qualified for the NMS…

Hey, I have a quick question: between AP and IB, which would you recommend. I heard that IB is better for a “well-rounded” student while AP is for kids that are really good in certain areas. Is this true?

@Studious: Thanks!

Also, my school doesn’t offer AP chem so I think I will take it this year after my honors course… I’m a BIT terrified, to be honest.

My goals for this year are to get at least 4 on the AP psych and stats exams. And also not get any B’s. Because I’m leaning towards one in history.

StudiousMaximus, I just turned 15 this fall (yay!), although I did enter kindergarten early because of my September birthday.

What do you people from noVa think of this snow? :3

The snow is ridiculous. It’s been coming down all day. What has happened to the world?!

Right?!? This is crazy! Plus it’s ruined my plans for tonight ):

You might be mad about the snow right now, but in another month, you’ll be happy you’re not living in the Midwest. Anyone remember Chicago’s blizzard last year? It’s projected to be worst this year.

As for my EC’s, comment if you please:

I won school science fair in biology last year… I was supposed to grow plants, and I didn’t… But I still won… lol fail

I placed 2nd at the Regional Science Fair in my county last year. I was surprised and elated to have beaten out so many seniors as a lowly freshman!

My EC’s:

…

…

…

Nothing

I want to study some sort of art after high school though. I don’t suppose anyone here knows what an art school would like to see for EC’s? :x

And yeah, the snow is crazy. Reminds me of that time it snowed in April.

I planned on having a lot of ECs this year, but it isn’t working out as planned. :(

Does your school have an open art studio thing? Take various art classes, enter competitions, etc. You should have too much of a problem finding stuff like that.

@Chapen11 same hahah. I planned on doing a TON of ECs sophomore year, but ehh. My courseload’s kinda heavy, but it’s not horrible.
(I’m taking
AP Euro
AP Chem
AP Calc BC
Honors English 2
Honors Spanish 2
Intro to Programming
and Adv. Choir

& I play field hockey in the fall and lacrosse in the spring (both for my school, not club teams or anything).
)

Any ideas on some ECs I could do? I’d like to become a doctor or businesswoman, if that helps.

I don’t think so jereve, and I can’t even take an art class this year because of spanish and gym.
Next year I will be able to take IB art though.

Gonna try to enter some contests.
