High School Class of 2014

Good luck studious ;)

@Quacoh: You have until January 15th to start your application. It’s worth the shot. I know several people who went sucking at math and went for performing arts and they loved it there. It’s not all science and math. I don’t know about getting AP Scholar status because my school now offers 0 APs and I will probably do 4 at the most (Calc BC, Bio, Chem, and Stats or Psych) So, no competition to the kids in Charlotte and Raleigh. I haven’t applied yet, but I’m starting the application next Wednesday.

Anyone feeling the pressures of the end of the semester? I felt mine starting last Monday and it ended today. All results have came back higher than I thought, just waiting on my Precalc score.

My semester doesn’t end until mid-January, but I definitely feel the teachers’ rushes to squeeze in big projects/tests. It’s not going to be a fun week.

EDIT: And thanks, jerevedeparis.

I had 3 major tests in a row today, all in the 1st half of the day. Along with those tests, I have countless other quizzes and tests this week, and then our school lovingly plans finals to be the 3 days before Christmas break, which starts next Friday, WHICH is only 2 days before Christmas itself. I think this is what the army likes to call a “Charlie Foxtrot.”

My 1st trimester finished a week before thanksgiving. I just have 2 projects, and a test this week and I’m finished( our last week of school before break is this week). When I return from winter break I’m anticipating an AP Midterm awaiting me in the beginning weeks of January. So that means unwanted studying during my 2 weeks of break.

On a lighter note Have you guys started thinking of New Years resolutions? I have one already decided so far and that is to become more dedicated to this thread, I’ve been so distant.

@anaychi: Ouch…that’s alot.

I’ve thought about a few. Number 1 is to get accepted into NCSSM, 2 is to read more, 3 is to shadow at a pharmacy, and 4 is to not cry when I leave my school to go to NCSSM if I get accepted.

AP Calc AB
AP Psych
AP Physics B
AP English Lang
AP Gov’t
Spanish II Hon
Chem Hon

Ok, I completely screwed up English, I’m border lined B/C. I was never much an English person, but I’ve never gotten a C in my life. I have to get an A on the semester exam to get an A in the class, and the exam is going to be hard, so I’m really worried!

I think a good New Years resolution is something you can actively control. ;)

New Years’ Resolutions:

1) Get 800s (or close) on the Math II and Biology SAT IIs.
2) Maintain near-perfect grades.
3) Study at least 2 hours a day for USABO and AMC. (I’m not going to put semifinalist for USABO or AIME qualification because I don’t know if I’m ready this year.)
4) Get into some sort of summer program(s).
5) Fall of junior year: 2300+ SAT.
6) Eat better.
7) Watch less TV.
8) Procrastinate less.
9) Read more.

Yeah, that’s about it. The first five (maybe not 3) are objective (I will know definitively if I fail) and the last four are subjective. Wish me luck!

My New Year’s Resolutions:

 1. Procrastinate less
 2. Get an A in Chemistry so I can have straight A’s
 3. Study for ACT and SAT (I want to ake the ACT in June and the SAT in July or August)
 4. Try to get a 36 on the ACT and a 2400 on the SAT (Probably won’t happen, but definitely possible)
 5. Read more

I’m not gonna take SATS/ACTs this summer. I want to finish the testing process before Junior Year is complete but I’m gonna focus this summer on studying for those tests, primarily the psat, and then when that test is over. I’ll take the SATs in Dec and if I have to retake it, then I’ll retake it in May or June… Same thing for the ACTs.

Adding to my list of New Years Resolutions

Become for Active on CC

Achieve All A’s

#1 in class, but I have a relatively small class size. Somewhere between 25-30 in my grade( I’m 2nd)

Start studying early for the PSATS/SATS/ACTs.

More will be added to this list but:

You guys seem to have more of a better idea of summer programs at colleges than I do. I live on the East Coast(NY) do you guys have any good ones I should look into? I want to do something with my summer!

I think I’ll make it my New Years resolution to stop procrastinating… next year.

@Quacoh I’m adding that to my list as well

I don’t like to make new year’s resolutions, I never follow them.

Got my PSAT back, got 230! Up from 227 last year :D

Just got my PSAT back - 215. Probably should have done better, ended up with 3 bubbling mistakes and 4 that I can’t believe I made. This was without any preparation though, so next year I’ll study more over the summer and hopefully get 230+ (I’m from PA so 215 would have qualified me for national merit anyway if I wasn’t a sophomore).

Projected classes next year:
AP Calc AB
AP US History
AP Humanities 1 (at my school it’s Humanities AP > English 3 AP > English 3 regular)
AP Physics 1
AP Vergil (or whatever AP Latin my school offers next year)
H Greek (no AP)

New Years Resolutions:

 1. Continue straight A’s / 4.0
 2. Study hard this summer for SAT / PSAT / ACT
 3. Procrastinate less
 4. Get a job for the summer

Good luck to everybody!

hmmm…New Years Resolutions:

Actually study for SAT/ACT, Math Level 2, and Physics :frowning:
Keep Straight A’s up
Get a leadership position in a club
Do something extraordinary :D

Bump.

Anything interesting happening for the holidays? Anyone going away from home, volunteering, etc.?

I’ll be applying for boarding school and reading over the holidays.

I’m going to spend Christmas with my grandma in OC since my grandpa just passed away :(

^ Aw, I’m sorry to read that. Hope you make the best out of it anyway!

Midterms next week. ■■■.

BUT, I’m going to do a lot of running, tennis, possibly get back to piano, reading, relaxing, and… SLEEPING! :)

Hi guys, wave Haven’t been on CC for a LONG time!
