High School Class of 2015

Course Schedule 2012-2013…

AP Euro
AP Physics
AP United States Gov’t and Politics
AP Comparative Gov’t and Politics
AP Statistics
Linear Algebra/Diffy Q
French 4
Honors Comm 10 (uggh this is gonna be so easy)

Well, i’ll prolly self-study AP psych too, but idk how it’ll workout with sports, clubs, etc.
Freshman Year went by so quickly, i managed to have fun and manage AP classes too!
Hopefully the same this upcoming year…

Course Schedule 2012-2013

Honors American/British Literature
Honors Chemistry
Spanish II
Honors Algebra II
Honors Latin III
Honors US History II
Study Hall
PE/Health- Semester I
Art- Semester II

No real options at my school freshman/sophomore year, this is the best course schedule. There is no AP, but there is IB, so definitely going for that (International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme) for Junior/Senior year.

@akacesfan I volunteered for special Olympics once, the people were so funny and nice! I’ll definitely do it again next year

@Purpledino I know right? Maybe you should see if your school has a partners club as well. Those clubs allow you to spend time with the athletes. Tons of fun, and it’s pretty much the only reason I look forward to Tuesdays.

omg yes! In my school they only let us take or better yet offer-- AP world to sophomores and then Junior year it’s typically 2 AP classes (English Lit and US history) and then you can take like 4-6 senior year. It’s so dumb.

My virtual school doesn’t offer any APs to freshman or sophomores. Have to get a load of recommendations from former teachers to take any APs in your junior and senior years as well. Added AP Psychology to my schedule for next year, doubt it’ll fly though. Won’t find out for another month.

Which SAT IIs will you guys be taking? I will be taking World History and Biology-E next June. I will then take Math I, Math II, and Biology-M in fall of Junior Year. Then I will take Physics, Chem, and US History in June of Junior year. Then I will probably take Literature and Spanish w/ Listening in Fall of Senior Year. Yeah it does sound overboard, but why not? I will be taking the corresponding AP classes. My school is very rigorous in that you will not need to prepare too much extra to get 800s.

I’m taking AP Environmental because there was only room for one AP in my schedule and that was the one that sounded the most interesting.

Is it a huge deal that I chose Environmental over the other to AP classes offered (Bio and Stats)? I’ve heard some people say that Environmental is easier than the other two, but I also heard the opposite. Which one is it?

@ImSoAmbitious World History and Chem next June. Perhaps US History and Physics in my junior year depending on how I like my previous scores.

Sophomore Year: (2012-2013)
Honors English II
AP Physics B
AP Calculus AB
AP Psych
Honors French III
Government (student council. Hopefully)
AP/Honors World (not sure if I want to take four APs… though I heard that AP World is pretty easy… I dont want to jump from one really bs AP, Human Geo, to four not so bs AP courses…)
(Not sure if the physics and calc are all year long everyday at my school, but if i had one more course option… it’d have to be… hrmm… Honors Civics and Economics–a course almost every sophomore takes, but since i took AP Human in place of World history, I have to get my world history credit this year… or maybe some other time, who knows what my counselor will do.)

At my school alot of clubs are a privilege of grade level–you have to be invited (get this letter with your report card) to apply for NHS and Beta Club (and maybe some other clubs), and applications are turned in last quarter of sophomore year. Other clubs, like Key Club, are also a big deal at my school (so many people tried to get in. To get in at my school you have to dress up ridiculously and walk around the school letting seniors make fun of you)–but only juniors can apply/try out.

Junior year (maybe!):
AP Stat (or AP Calc BC if its offered… which I dont think it is, and I would rather not take a mroe difficult course online)
AP Earth
AP English III
Honors French IV (did I use the right roman numerals for 4? haha:)
AP Computer Science
APUSH (AP US History)
I have a little space for easy electives but my goal is top of my class (its cool if that doesnt happen, but trying my hardest to get to this goal will definitely benefit my chances of acceptance letters and scholarships), but I dont want to put in any standard classes that will bring down my gpa… I would really like to take ceramics, but i dont know…

Current GPA is 4.875 weighted, 4.0 unweighted (this years valedictorian was 5.375, but freshmen arent allowed to really take AP courses, so I’ll catch up in the next few years.) SAT score of 9th grade= 1820 (i studied a little… did really bad on the reading section… ): … )
Planning on taking the SAT again soon (and maybe the ACT, i heard it was just math an science or something… which are two subjects I’m really strong in.)

Quick question for you guys–Do you guys scope out the competition at your school? I’m friends/know alot of the freshmen at my school and even though there was two geniuses graduate this year, and one kid a year ahead of me that was SO SMART, I dont think theres too much competition in my own grade level. Not too many kids I know got straight a’s and took as many honors and APs as I did (well, you can only take one AP as a freshman, but I only had two required standard classes, five honors, and 1 AP). No one is freakishly smart, and the kids that are probably gonna go through highschool and get straight a’s (alot of my friends) I dont think are brave enough (or due to their parents) to take on so many APs… I will most definitely be ranked #1 when report cards come out first semester next year (thats the first time you get to see your rank), but once other kids start taking as many or more APs as me in junior and senior year it’ll probably be a fight to stay in the top 2 or 3. What about you guys?

haha now you guys aren’t freshmen anymore! How does that feel?

Have fun next year!

@Akaces Yeah Enviro is a BS AP. You can get a 5 by self-studying for a few hours ahahha. Stats is also pretty easy, much harder than APs tho. Bio is not a BS AP. You should have taken that.

Do you guys have to participate in Science Fair? Our School requires us to participate Junior Year. We are required to take a Research Project class.

@ImSoAmbitious, lol you must be mistaken with the Enumerative Combinatorics and/or Theoretical Neuroscience. I’ll be taking one of those (haven’t made up my mind, in fact i might be taking a different course all together) at a local college. The highest math my school offers is Linear Algebra/Differential Equations (which i will take this next year). The school offers 28 AP classes. Its a large public (but VERY competitive) school in case you were wondering. Average student here takes at least 4 AP classes throughout their high school career.

Yeah, that is interesting. Same with my school, we only go up to Linear algebra and diff equations. I go to a top 20 math and science school, we are pretty small <1000 students, but it is ultra competitive. You are a genius at math it seems LOL.
