Yes, I am fortunate that my school has this system. As a result, I am taking 18 AP classes before I graduate.

Wow! You guys have really impressive schedules. At my school sophomores are restricted to only taking AP Euro or AP Human Geo and AP Art History. I feel like we should be able to take more. I’m up for a challenge and a lot of other sophomores at school are, too.

We can only take AP sciences after that course’s regular class. Disappointing.

I wish my school offered Italian. Though I am extremely happy with German, I wish I had space for a second language.

I would love for my school to offer Italian as a language option, too. We currently have Spanish, French, Mandarin, and German, but Italian, Arabic, and Latin would be great additions. I want to work for the United Nations one day so having the option to learn more of the official UN languages would be cool.

@HobbitTon LOL you are lucky. But it doesn’t matter in the long run, I will still get to take all the main APs at school and the rest I will be self-studying. DO you have your schedules planned out. Can you post them? I just want to see how much of an advantage you have :)

These are the hardest schedules possible at my school…

Sophomore

Honors English 10
Honors U.S History 10
Chemistry
Pre-Calculus
French III
AP Environmental Science (if I pass the entrance exam)
Alaska Studies (online)

@ImSoAmbitious, how much are you graduating with? Without self-studying any more APs (self studied world last year), i would have around 23 by the time I graduate, what about you?

@akacesfan, do you really have to take an entrance exam for AP Environmental Science? I don’t think we have any prerequisite here at my school!

@Thiruvin I am only taking core APs at school. Both Physics Cs, Bio, Chem, Lit, Lang, APUSH, Calc AB, Calc BC, and Spanish Lang. So 10 APs in school. I could fit 20 APs in, however I feel as if it is a waste of time. I will have 25, maybe 1 or 2 more, total however, as I am self-studying every other one. As I said before, I don’t see a point in taking easy APs at school because of the vast number of electives available. If I can gain the same knowledge from reading a prep book, then why take the class and miss out on taking a class such as Nuclear Physics? At other schools where there aren’t many electives, I have no idea what I would do. I would not want to take easy APs because it would be a waste of time as I would have to do so much busy work, but I would need something to fill up my schedule.

I’ll probably have taken 16 by the end of highschool (1 freshman, 4 sophomore, 5 junior, 6 senior)… theres like 25 or something offered at my school, but that includes AP spanish, german, french etc. I dont want to get too carried away with APs, but… I really need to ensure lots of scholarships so i can afford school…

I think I’m taking one of the hardest schedules, but I really don’t know…
Honors Algebra 2
Honors Physical Science
Honors English
Honors Social Studies
Honors French I
Music Theory I
Band

I’ll also be taking precalculus and latin online. Possibly biology too if I can convince my parents to spend more money on me. :P

Additional Maths (self study)
English Lit
English Lang
Spanish
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Modern World History
Classical Civilization (literature as well)
Textiles design and technology

Can’t do examined PE next year, so that’s it :)

I was just wondering how free periods work at you guys’ schools. How long do you get? Where are you supposed to go?

My school does not allow for free periods during freshman or sophomore year. We’re required to take 12 classes in the first two years leaving no time for frees. We only have one 20 minute study hall a week and 20 minute lunch periods every day.

It just dawned on me that I will never have a free period ever if I choose to take the hardest course load, so I’ll never know!

In nomal cases, we usually have one free a day that’s 45 minutes. We have 7 periods every day, each 45 minutes. Lunch is one of those periods. One can choose to take 6 courses with special permission, and one can also take 4 courses with special permission

We have 4 periods a day, plus lunch and activity. So we take 7 classes and we are required to have a study hall.

DivergentPaths, sounds great! I’ll keep you informed!
What camps/ summer classes are you guys planning on doing next summer?

Aww! I wish I had that! >:(

We don’t have periods that start and end at a set time. Our classes may be either 40, 60, 80, or 100 minutes each. Generally, our classes are 1 hour each.

@ImSoAmbitious: I don’t think I’ll be taking any SATs this year, besides the PSATs, if that counts for anything lol.

For junior year, I plan on taking:
HH (high honors-easier than AP, harder than honors) English 3 / American Studies
AP Calculus AB
AP US History (continuation of 10th grade APUSH)
AP Latin 3
Dual Enrollment Biology, or AP Physics B or C. I’m unsure yet.
Nonweighted Physical Education 3&4

@akacesfan: I’m sure colleges won’t look down on you for taking AP Environmental.

@petitellama: My freshman year wasn’t too bad, aha.

@columbia97: Good luck with starting the club!

@beexx93: Idk if my school allows free periods, but I doubt I would take the chance. Lunch is 25 minutes (there’s four diff lunch periods, also). The closest to a study hall I’ll ever get was the seminar class I took this year, and gym class was always a perfect time to study, heh. :)

No study hall… 6 classes and 20 minute lunch. 5 minute break in between classes.
I just changed my course schedule… Now I’m taking honors pre-cal. This should be interesting.

Sent from my ADR6400L using CC

Each class of mine is 50 minutes, but with people taking their sweet time, every class is pretty much 40 minutes. It should be that way anyways, considering we are given 10 minutes to get to the next class…The thing is, teachers expect their students to be in class within 2 seconds -.-

We have 5 1 hour lessons a day, as well as an hour for lunch and 20 minutes of ‘form time’ spent doing compulsory things including self defense, cleaning our classroom, citizenship, sitting around waiting for our form tutor and much more.
So we don’t get frees until junior year, but we can work during lunch if we want to get loads done.
