High School Class of 2015

@ImSoAmbitious that’s a pretty impressive set of stats, but remember that UK students are a year ahead academically, so AP level is the norm for senior year year. Also they won’t care that you have 17 APs, they will care how many and what scores in your subject field only.

@AlexHarper I’ve always been in love with Oxford (not really Cambridge) too, well before and after my obsession over US unis. Everything there is just so amazing, and it’s really beautiful and has so much history. My love was confirmed earlier in the year when I got to debate in the Oxford Union buildings (!!!).
They generally have a lot less randomness in selections than Ivies are thought to (not sure I entirely believe this though) but as long as you have adequate academics, most stuff rests on the interviews, which include problem solving, logic and subject related questions. These are harder to predict, but still favour the best students.

Yo, how my sophomores doin’!

@UKGirl, It will hopefully be all 5s. Also, I will probably major in Economics, and I have already taken both Economics exams and gotten 5s. I guess the Calculus and Statistics exams would also apply?

Definitely. Check the specific page for UK applicants and have as many APs in the subjects the require or suggest A levels in.

UCLA all day

My dream school is Princeton University.

@Hobbit Yoo u said you like Yale like two weeks ago man. you is a flip flopper.

@UKgirl thanks

Hahaha, I’m really undecided between the two. I would prefer Yale, but it’s surrounding area is so sketch.

New Haven is not that bad, people exaggerate how bad it is. I would definitely not use safety as a reason to go against the school. As for me, I’m trill for Harvard, thats where my future is at hopefully.

ImSoAmbitious: Why Harvard? And why so many AP classes? Hahaha

@Tiger I like taking APs for fun. And as for Harvard, I want some Harvard swagger. Is that a valid reason?

Harvard is great! It would be awesome if I got in! And APs are funn!!

What do you mean by “Harvard swagger?” lol.

LOL idk. Harvard seems to be a great atmosphere, like minded individuals, course selection is great with MIT next door, world-class education, campus is beautiful, grade-inflation, best job-prospects in Finance, and its Harvard “factor”, something that yale/princeton lack. The only problem could be that Y and P have more undergraduate focus, but Harvard is Harvard, and I, like most other confident people, feel like I should be there.

@UKgirl i’ve personally gone through both the US and UK(well, Scotland but you get my point) Education Systems and the UK students do NOT start a year earlier. This is because in the States they have Kindergarten which is equivalent to primary 1/ year 1. So, it seems like they only have 12 years of school but in actual fact they have 13 years. Don’t want to sound harsh just wanted to clear things up

Oh… My dream school would be Stanford just can’t beat Cali! Go class of 2015 Woo!

I know we don’t actually start a year earlier, but by high school we are academically a year ahead. So A2s are the equivalent of first year college in the US, or so I’ve been told.

@UKgirl Ah… Ok but to be honest A levels and APs aren’t that different, some say A levels are harder but it depends on the school really. My point is… both APs and A Levels are at the college level thus why you can get credit for both and even miss the first year of college for both. So in the end, AS year is not actually equivalent to the first year of college. It’s just at the same level of work.

hooooola thread it’s been a while. haha how have you guys been doing in my absence? :>

Anyone else getting excited for school? It’s August; t-minus two weeks for me!

I start august 7th! I just got the lead in a musical that I’ll perform at school, made varsity volleyball and got the sched I wanted  super psyched.
