High School Class of 2015

@Hobbiton: I start monday! I’ll check in in about a week. But great work! I hope I can keep great grades up the whole year

I start next thursday, I have so much work to do before then though :frowning:
I have paralympic tickets for next week  are any of you guys going to watch it?

@alex, i took AP Human geography and Algebra II so I didnt have any room for world history, and yeah, my sister told me I could always drop world and take it next year (and either double up world and civics and economics next year or take civics senior year or something.) … and sorry to hear about the online thing :frowning: it was free for me (I think my district payed for it since only one other student in my “class” went to my school).

@hobbitTon, i’ll also check in at the end of the week  school starts monday for me aswell!

also, I should really get involved this year with ECs, last year was pretty much a dud… this year I’m thinking about swim and track (never done a sport before, my family is completely ‘techy’ and ‘artsy’ and no one in my family has ever done a sport… so I never thought about it until highschool) and I really need to pick a club to stay dedicated to like debate or room to read or SOMETHING. You cant join a ton of prestigious clubs till junior and senior year so I’ll have to wait to try and get into those (National honors society, key club, beta club, etc)

@teaspoons: Wow! at my school they make world history a prereq for civics and civics a pre req for US. I like the way your school does it better. And same for me about the clubs, key club and national honors society is only for juniors and seniors.

I think you should deff join those sports! I mean I did Volleyball, track and swim team last year and it was great! This year I’m quitting swim though and thinking about going out for the basketball team!

I cannot wait for school tomorrow!!! Any of you start school tomorrow?

ME!
(10char)

me!!!

Crikey you guys are like hawks. Do you see the sun regularly or have you already constructed replicas in your room to make up?

At least we know the world’s going in the right direction.

I start the middle of next week!

Sept 4 :)

My school doesn’t offer APs to freshman I think. But sophomore year I’ll have like 4 AP’s. Good lord. I know my friend’s school doesn’t allow the freshman or sophomores to do any AP’s and the honor classes aren’t even 5.0’s - they’re only 4.0’s. Sad, isn’t it?

Just wondering, why do you guys want to take so many AP classes? Is it for the credit? You can always take the test on your own like I did for biology last year. Took honors bio at school and self-studied for the AP bio test.

@cookiestuf: For the credit and for the GPA boost!

My goal is valedictorian… My school is pretty competitive though so I might not make it but if I end top 1% of my class that will really help me get into the colleges I’m looking at. The other part of it is credit… I’ll probably already be a ‘sophomore’ or ‘junior’ by the time I graduate highschool since I’ll have taken 15 APs or so. Another thing being just trying to take the hardest classes… I am a lot prouder of my schedule now than if it were just honors and laced with art classes/bs electives…

@alex, my school is the same as yours for history it just more flexible I guess. Doubling up is a normal thing (but normally it’s done with algebra II and precal) and most prereqs for APs can be … Overlooked… (you don’t have to take biology for AP bio, you can skip music theory one two and three and just take ap music theory… Stuff like that)

We have a bank holiday today, so no school for anyone! Also mo schools here start in August because the school year begins September 1st for everyone, which is why that’s the age cut off date.

Sigh. Just took my first PSAT practice test and got a 192. I’m pretty upset about that. Have you guys started studying yet, and if so, how? I can’t think of ways to study other than just taking more practice tests.

@woahitzme, where did you get PSAT practice tests?

Aren’t there practice PSAT tests in the college board blue books specifically for PSATs? Ive yet to take a PSAT exam… And my last SAT score was an 1820… I really want to make a high score on the PSATs though (I didnt study for my SATs when I took them btw) , anywhere in the 200+ zone will really please me… I guess I better get to studying! :)

Princeton Review has a book for the PSAT. They come with 2 practice tests.

Teaspoons i have the exact same score and have the exact same goal :stuck_out_tongue: :D

are you taking the psat this october? usually psat scores are a bit lower than sat ones. on the actual sat i want 2300+ for some schools im aiming for…

has anyone thought about subject tests yet, im hoping to self study physics and take math 1 or 2 (im in precal for math, that should probably suffice) my school started today

has anyone found anything really helpful (like a prep book) for the sat/psats i think theres only a month but anything would be good!!!
