@collegefountain…I don
t know whether I
m going to get a book or not. Like goodnoodle said, internet has lots of resources. I`ll get a book for the SAT. Plus, my school gave us the official little prep book, which is fine for me.

@goodnoodle…ha, really I cannot sing. Or act, but especially sing.

You guys are so lucky to get so many dance things to go to, even if half of you are too nerdy to attend
We only get prom at the end of this year and a leavers dinner/prom thing at the end of senior year. A lot of schools, but not mine have a prom at the end of 8th grade as well

And it`s a bad thing to live in the U.K because…? Actually, I never have had a desire to live across the pond, but would love to visit.
My homecoming`s at the end of October....another school around here had their 2 hours after the homecoming football game, which I thought was a bit ridiculous.

shmluza- btw with ‘what is it’ I meant the summer program

CE527M- I wouldn’t say it’s a bad thing to live here, just not really for me. It’s dull and just meh ( I have more reasons but tis too late here). The weather, as much as we like to moan, is great for me. I hate really hot weather and tons of snow can be very difficut.

I was so annoyed I missed Tobuscus in Hyde Park today! My parentswouldn’t let me go because I have a lot of work, not that I’ve done any of it this afternoon.

What’s a list of your reaches, safeties and matches? I thought I had a list but it seems I might be aiming a little too high … I guess it’s not too smart to have so many reaches and not a whole lot of everything else… But I’ve always felt confident I could make it into one of those reaches if I just tried hard enough… I really hope I can bump all my scores to 700+ on my SATs … (And hopefully closer to an 800 on my math section)…

Reach (high to low):
Yale
Princeton
MIT
Georgetown
Stanford

Matches:
Carnegie Mellon
UNC chapel hill

Safeties:
UNC Charlotte

I’m really bummed out right now… Hopefully I can get there, to one of those reaches, some day ;)

I have one question, why do you want to go to Yale, Princeton, or MIT. What makes you want to go there instead of somewhere like UNC Chapel Hill?

USNA & USMA- These are reaches for anyone (I call them Super-Reaches)
Regular Reach:
-George Washington University
-American University
-Northwestern University
-VMI (Could be match, depends)
Match-
-Virginia Tech (Safety-Match, sort of in between)
-Ohio University (Only reason it isnt a safety is because its out-of-state)
-University of Richmond (Match to reach)

@Yerhs52, I guess I have somewhat of a tainted view on things; in the sense that I feel as though I have to go to these schools to feel happy/accomplished… I know that’s not true, but I just have always felt I should try my hardest and do my best which would be going to some Ivy League, or some prestigious school. I don’t find it too outrageous, because its just like some of you guys reaching for UNC or Duke or UVA or Clemson. I only reach for higher schools because I’ve known and seen many accepted into UNC who don’t get straight a’s haven’t taken as rigorous courses as me and lack as much involvement as I plan to have (student council for 3 years, leader ship in other clubs along with serious art involvement). I may be aiming too high, and have wrong intentions, (because I know that I can go to any college and enjoy myself, and then it matters what I do with my degree and not where I get it that will truly affect my future income) but I also feel like I only have one life and its worth trying extremely hard to achieve great things… Including: getting into a prestigious school… Sorry if any of that sounded arrogant or pompous in anyway, I’m don’t think that other wanting to attend this schools have very different reasons.

My 9 weeks quarter doesn
t end until the end of October. On our progress reports, I had 2 A
s and 2 B`s (One was AP) and currently, my B in math is going to bump up to an A anytime now, and I suspect the same for history.

I’m not too sure since there aren’t a lot of actual grades in yet (progress reports just went out) but I’m confident ill get straight a’s with a few 93s, and 95s

Teachers are writing our progress reports at the moment, so should do pretty well. Our grades are based on how well we’d do if we took our GCSEs then, which we’ll be doing at the end of this year. This time last year I got 7 As 2 As and 1 B. This year I’m hoping for mostly As with a few As.
