High School Class of 2015

jax, your report card is good. just work hard to bring those 89s up! Good luck.

Shmulza indeed I do, and quite near to Oxford. Also both my parents went there, so I can get into most parts of the univeristy if I want. Do you mean a summer camp there for for university in the future?

OMG UKgirl! I’ll do a summer camp. It’s not really a camp run by Oxford. I think they use the campus. I so look forward to it! What do you do in the summer? do you know yet? I know it’s early. But for a big trip like this, my family needs to plan early.

Oxford has some okay shopping, but for me it’s not really worth going there unless I’m meeting people, because to get there by train I have to go into London and out again, which takes about an hour and a half, even though it’s about half an hours drive.
Is the camp quite early? Our summers only start at the end of July, although the uni students come back earlier than this. I end earlier this year, as I have GCSEs, but I’ll probably be in France for quite a lot of time.
I don’t think that was really what you were asking, but PM for more info, or I can ask my mum if there’s something specific.

@Teaspoons I feel the same way! I know I’m smart enough and capable of attending an Ivy, so it’s like I’m pressuring myself to do my best. I don’t want to look back on my life and wish I had done more. Any college would be fine because it’s what you make of it that counts, but I just want to prove that I’m good enough to get in a prestigious school.

@Purpledino I feel the same too! Also my parents are really expecting me to get into Oxford, mostly because they both did, and as my older brother’s grades weren’t good enough to even bother applying, they seem to think it falls on me.
I think feeling that I’m smart and capable enough were the main reasons I was going to try for medicine for ages, however now I have decided that it may be a great career, but I’m not really interested in it. With History I’m also free to take a gap year, come to the US or Europe, and I don’t have to decide my actual career path until much later.

Just got out of my first Debate tournament this weekend. I went 2-2 (I do Lincoln-Douglas), and I got 3rd in my Extemp Commentary round. If I would have placed 2nd in my room, I would have went on to finals. So close!

@UKgirl Over the weekend, I saw a BMW with the license plate " Oxford Uni". Also, like you, I think I can excel in the medical field, but I’m not that interested in it. I like bio and world history

@akacesfan aww that’s so close! I’m in debate for the first time ever and
we haven’t gone on any tournaments yet

You guys do really weird types of debate! We do British Parliamentary normally (8 people, 4 teams, 2 on each side) also Mace (which is just done by the English Speaking Union) and World Schools’. Actually, it makes sense you don’t do the first two… Are your styles meant to be like political debates? And have any of you done any international competitions?

What is everyone’s favorite subject? Best subject? My favorite is Astrophysics and Theoretical Physics. My best is mathematics.

@Purpledino, I’m glad someone also has this opinion! I’ll settle for Chapel Hill so long as I know its the best I can do :)

@Yehhs52, you never really responded to my post, not that I asked any questions, just that I figured a conversation was to be started there… its cool though, my favorite subject is English currently because the teacher ADORES me, which is rare since I’m kind of that kid who talks alot, doesnt follow directions, and doesnt always do the work… too bad shes 9 monhts preggers :frowning: … My best subject would probably be math… it comes pretty naturally to me (well, I find the classes super easy but I wouldve kept on presuming they were that easy to everyone had it not been that I saw people really struggling in the same subject I was excelling). The subject which I found most interesting… I enjoyed biology a lot last year and psych this year, we typically read from the textbook at home, have a quiz the next day, and then review what we read in the book in class… things like split brain and genie the wild child all spark interest to me in class.

Best Sumbject: History, English

Favorite subject: History, English

This year in AP, I
m not doing AS well as I did in the “normal” classes, but doing average, but it
s still early in the year so my grade will go up soon. I love to read and write, and usually I don
t have the best English class, but this year, I have a really laid back class…only 19 kids (compared to 28 in science…average is like 23) and we get off topic a lot and the teacher really likes me…probably because I
m the only one who shows interest in the class per se. But she was in the Army, so is kinda stict, so I
m always afraid I
ll mess up, but it`s all good. :)

@Teaspoons…Chapel Hill
s definitely a good school… unfortunately, I can
t stand them because this kids who really annoyed me and was one of those people who always had to get his way by doing as little as possible (Entitled, I guess I should say) was a big UNC fan, so I really can
t stand them…wrong to do based on one person, but if you knew the kid, you
d understand.

Yeah a ton of kids really love UNC, and some of them are kids who I really dislike to be honest…

Hey random quietism for you guys, what’s your least favorite and favorite commercials?

I absolutely hate Reece’s commercials (they’re completely pointless and not funny at all). But I really like that candy commercial right now where the girl takes a night and everything gets really slow and people start slow dancing … It never ceases to make me laugh

I don’t watch tv lol. Netflix is for me :D

Some of the Direct TV commercial are funny. The because of this, this happens, and then that happens, and because of this, etc…those ones.

Least favorite…I don
t know, I
ve gotten tired of the Geico ones.

Best Subject: French
Favorite Subject: History  (or Ceramics haha)
Long time no see on this board, its good to be back… :)

I don’t really have a “best” or “Favorite” subject. I’m so indecisive. I just love them all! With the exception of…GEOMETRY. That was the worst class I have EVER taken.

^ me too, I don’t have a favorite or best subject. Actually, I’ve never really had a favorite subject ever. I used to like English when we’d write creative stories, but then we got into grammar :(

-My favorite and best subject is English.
-I decently like Science, and I’m almost at it as in english.
-I really love history, and know so much about it from wikipedia, etc, but I never have really liked history classes because I only really want to learn about historical events that I find interesting
-I sorta like math, but it’s my worst subject (a long time ago, it was my best) even though I’m still better at it than most people in my school. (I get dirty looks when I say math is my worst subject.)
-I used to really like Spanish, but since I got put in a class with people I cant stand ive associated spanish with the people around me

 • Doesnt really count as a subject, but my legit favorite class is U/ASB*

My favorite subject used to be math, until I started taking Honors Precalc this year (because now math has basically turned into physics, which is something that, let’s just say I’m not so good at…). Now it’s probably chemistry, even though we haven’t really gotten into “real” chemistry yet. My least favorite subject is probably history (my teacher’s voice puts me to sleep… literally) or theology (I’m not religious in the slightest), or maybe Spanish.

Up until this year, I THOUGHT I was good at math (It’s always been my strongest subject, and I’ve always been kind of a teacher’s pet in math), but now I’m not so sure… My weakest subject is definitely English, because I can’t write a coherent narrative essay to save my life (although I’m really good at BSing through expository essays by using big words and fancy sentence structure). Well, can’t wait to write my college essays… sarcasm
