High School Class of 2015

^Yes, we do care, hence the us saying “Tell us all about it when you get back” before you left. :D

Good that you have a great time.

@Teaspoons…they seriously have AP Ceramics???

UKGirl I am SOOOO JEALOUS!!! OMG!!! my family was going to Greece, Italy, and all that, 2 years ago. But things happened, we couldn’t make it. Next summer we will be in Europe. But no time for Greece. :frowning: Hopefully we’ll go to several places in Italy. and of course, UK and Paris. OMG YOU MAKE ME SO JEALOUS!! ^-^

Haha I had to choose between Sicily with my family or Greece with school, very glad I picked Greece :D

This morning the hotel got the time for the wake up call wrong, so they woke us all up at 2, after I’d been woken up by my ‘friends’ at 11 and then 12.30. We had to get up at 3 :(

AP ceramics sounds awesome! I’m currently doing textiles (mix of fashion, design, sewing etc) and I hate it, but most people who do it now will go on to do it at A level.

@shmluza I haven’t ever actually been to Paris. I’ve stayed the night when driving fown to the south a number of times, but never seen anything there, Sounds a bit crazy when it’s so near (probably about 5 hours driving plus ferry/eurotunnel), so hopefully going this summer as part of my western front/somme/WWI trip I’m planning.

@UKgirl, but you’ll visit Paris before I do, right? lol cuz I count on you! :D

Hey guys, do you have any idea which colleges you might be applying yet? If you do, how did you make your choices? When is good time to do college visit?

Well, I found out I have a 58 in math class. ONLY because we
ve only had like two grades, homework and a quiz, and I did horribly on the quiz. But it didn
t even change the semester grade that much, so *potentially/I I could fail this quarter and still receive a B for the semester. But I can most definitely get it up to an A even. One bad quiz grade won`t be that bad. I have no idea what i have in my other classes. But yeah.

In other news, I heard there`s some storm system forming up north in Canada and moving south, so that could spell T-R-O-U-B-L-E, (trouble) for those in the Northeast who are just getting started on getting back on their feet.

MY LIST (In order of top to bottom choices. *= tied for third & +=died for fourth):

-Naval Academy
-VMI
-Northwestern University*
-Ohio University*
-University of Oregon+
-Virginia Tech+ (Yeah, I don
t really want to go in-state, in case you couldn
t tell. Well, VMI is in-state also, but other than that…this is my safety)

I dunno, I just like the schools. Everyone has a hard time understanding why I like military schools live USNA and VMI, but I want to be in the military for a little while, and I don
t want a normal college experience, I want one like the kind those schools can give me. For the civilian schools, I like them because they all offer journalism (Well, VT only offers a communications major with a concentration in journalism, but whatever). And why those J-schools over others? I dunno, like the schools. Oh, and just for fun, I love U of Oregon
s phone number: 1-800-Be-A-Duck!

Ah, seems like a lot of people are starting to visit summer after freshmen year (too late for us) but it seems like you
d forget what the school
s like when it comes time to apply. I
ll probably visit some schools over the next summer. I mean, with in-state ones, that
s really easy.

I feel like this was an fulfilling post.

@cem Second member of my F club. I had a 58 on our chapter test. Today she let us take the benchmark with a partner, so I hopefully did better. If I get an A that might bump up my grade to an A since the quarter ends today.

Aww, we
re special! A two member club, better than all you people who never get F
s! Ah man, quarter ends for you guys today? I
m lucky, I
ve got to mid December to boost my grade. I
m just glad I have to take a standardized test for this class and not a final exam. Standardized tests are so much easier since they
re made for everyone, not specifically for ___ class.

I’m not worried about the quarter grades; at my school they count for very little. And absolutely no one in my class has straight As this quarter. I know this because every person in our top twenty is in AP Euro and I’m the only person in Euro with an A. I guess I might get lucky and have my B in precalc bumped up from the benchmark, and have my chem teacher finish entering stuff in and bring my B+ to an A- but its unlikely.

Hey teaspoons, since when is there AP Ceramics? Or is that what they call “AP 3D Studio Art” at your school??

anyways, my college list…my dreams colleges (Universities of GA, MI, & MN, Oregon State, Ohio State, UCDavis, a few others) are big out of sate publics that I probably won’t be able to afford, in my state I would go for Cornell or Binghamton.

As to everyone naming off colleges, I’m reluctant to make a list. People always say “what college do you want to go to” and I never want to give a name, because we’re just sophomores. I got all As freshman year, but don’t know what’s yet to come. I’ll start thinking of some possibilities after first semester and make an actual list before junior year.

But as for my current list some possibilities are
Stanford
Berkeley
Ucsd
Ucsb

^Well, yeah, my list has changed like 10 times in the past year, I always consider new colleges and whatnot, but those colleges that I listed are ones that are consistently ones that I like and everything, so…yeah.

goodnoodle, ever think about going to college outside of, GASP California?

Wait you mean that other states have colleges? :)

Yeah I’d definitely be willing to leave California, but I like it here and if I can go to a really good college here then I’m good.

In the end ill probably apply to like 12 colleges: those 4 colleges, 3-4 safeties and low matches in California, and the rest high matches and reaches in other states. But like you said, this is tentative.

Come on over to the East Coast, lots of fun! :)

We offer AP Art and AP Ceramics (possibly also AP studio art or something). It counts as 6.0 just like other APs and you just get an exam or the equivalent from a teacher… Pretty sure it’s somewhat valid since my sister skipped a basic art class that was normally mandatory when she started art college (she took ap art as a senior)… But it’s pretty difficult to get into… There’s 3 ap art student (out of almost 3000 kids) and 1 ap ceramics student.

Also my current top schools are:
UNC Chapel Hill
Princeton

I’d also be really happy with getting accepted into:
Yale
MIT
Georgetown
Stanford
:)

Oh and I’m planning on organizing a district wide food/supply drive for victims of sandy… Hopefully I can pull it off.

@cem if I go out of state, east coasts probably where it’ll be.

Haven’t posted here in a long while.
Sorry for not getting back to you on my PSAT practice-book results, shmulza.
My school has decided to take not only rank off the report card, but gpa as well. I don’t like the idea, but oh well.

Oh and I just spent about an hour or so reading all the comments in the thread since I last posted. Interesting stuff (x

^ We get our GPA put on report cards at the end of the semester only. They abandoned class rank a few years ago, deeming it “unfair” and “competitive”.

my school doesn’t put rank on the report card, but they do post everybody who makes honor roll’s averages on the list, so its easy out figure out what one’s rank is.

Oh and I just found out that school will be closed Monday and tuesday! This is insane! And now there’s word of a nor’easter hitting Wednesday!! I saw the predicted pathways…its either going out to sea and not being much of a problem…or its hitting NYC head-on!
