High School Class of 2015

:(…my school’s 600-student Class of 2012 didn’t have a single Ivy League (although somebody got into Bowdoin). This year, I think the Val-to-be is going to Brown though :)

Hm in the ~450-500 senior class last year had 16 go to ivies. 9 to Cornell, none to Harvard.

We have classes of around 170 I think. We’re increasing our intake for junior year though, so not sure if this will change or if more people will be kicked out because of low grades. Either way, I’ll be leaving to go to a school than gets 45% into Oxbridge and 5-10% into Ivies :)

my local public high sent a student to Tulane
The catholic school were most my friends go to sent around 4 to Tulane, 2 Vanderbilt, and 2 Notre Dame

^ Never heard of any of those schools :/

^not surprised you’ve never heard of Tulane or Vanderbilt, but Notre Dame, really? I don’t know, I thought most people had heard of it. The Fighting Irish they’re called…the movie Rudy was about ND? No? Doesn’t ring a bell? Oh well.

Nope, but how many UK unis have you heard of? (that isn’t supposed to be rude, just pointing out that most people hear haven’t heard of any except Ivies)

Yeah, I know how I probably haven’t heard as many either. The trans-Atlantic discrepancy. Ha.

Oxford
uh…Cambridge
There’s a University of London right?

Haha, I feel like UK people know more about American colleges than the other way around though.

Oxford
Cambridge
London school of economics
Open university
Trinity college
Wait that’s Irish

Oh
I’ve heard of Durham
Leeds
And St Andrews
As well as Glasgow

^Ireland is in the UK, learn your geography

I know Oxford, Cambridge, King’s College London, University College London, and Imperial College London (a friend of mine from Hong Kong is there now for freshman year).

Plenty of people I know applied to Tulane, only two got in so far.

My high school has 11 graduates this year, only one of which I know for sure is applying to privates. He just got rejected from Wesleyan ED, his top choice. =/

At least no one asked how many American colleges I know, that would take a while

Northern Ireland is in the UK, not the republic though.
I’m impressed with your knowledge! As a general rule, you can pick any city and add university on the end. eg Southampton university (my brother’s there), Manchester university etc
I could probably name 10-15 US colleges. But most things are that way round, we get a lot more American media here than I;m sure you get British :)

All right, what American Colleges do you know?

yep, hardly any British media over here (besides One Direction and all of the British singers)

I just looked at my CDs and realised I don’t own a single one by a British artist, except my movie soundtracks :)

Ummm… all the Ivies, U of every state, MIT, CalTech and some random ones I keep seeing adverts for. That’s like the equivalent of all the Russell group and the London ones (UCL, Kings, Imperial, LSE)

Been gone for 3 pages worth of posts…

I’m really kind of down about my PSAT and Pre ACT scores (181 and 21). Mostly because kids who are still in algebra II and kids who I didn’t consider to be as smart as me got either higher or same scores as me :\ … But im so glad they have plans and sent back the test booklet and whatnot. But I know I have alot of other things going for me so asking as I can break 2000 or 2100 I think I’ll be set.

Haha I have a very important Spanish assesment that I need to learn a page of spanish paragraphs for tomorrow, so I’ve been procrastinating.

The only UK colleges I’ve heard of are Oxford, Cambridge, King’s College, and St. Andrew’s. I think I would recognize the names of colleges in the UK if I heard them, but these are the only ones I can think of off of the top of my head.

The val from my school last year got into St. Andrew’s but didn’t go. I remember reading in our school newspaper that she applied one day and was accepted the very next day. Other than that, I don’t think people at my school really consider colleges that are outside of the U.S.

Off to learn the spanish, I have 12 hours plus I need to sleep, and go to lessons before. Oh god I’m going to fail :)
