High School Class of 2015

@Arabie, YES I DID! I got 214. I’m very happy even though it’s not all that great. I’ll do better next year because I decided I will study for it next year so I can try NMS.
How about you? Maybe you’ve said something about it already and I missed it. Can you tell me again?

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

What present have you got?

I got a sonic screw driver wii remote!!! plus some other things.

@UKgirl you use the word revise to mean prepare?

@shmluza we got the same exact score on PSATs  The highest out of sophomores at my school was 215, so I had the second highest, and the highest besides that was a 202. So I was actually very pleased with my scores. My goal was 215, but whatever

OMG RoseOak! We are twins haha. I got the highest score in my whole school, including sophomores and juniors - that tells you something about my pathetic school lol

Sort of, but revision is more like going back over the work done and memorising it :)

I’m still jealous that kypdurron gets so many green boxes in his/her rating while most of us only get one. :p

Yesterday I was out of town so I didn’t watch Doctor Who. I will do it today. Don’t tell me anything yet! I can’t wait.

UKGirl will you watch it soon?
I got a sonic screw driver wii remote!

@shmluza, the episode is great! And confusing, but that’s Doctor Who for you.

Probably when I get back from holiday. I was still too upset over Merlin to watch anything on Christmas day
And that is such a cool present :D

Thank you Shaywood for not spoiling it.
I so look forward to watching it!

UKgirl, yes it is! :)

Heh, that’s funny. I’d use “revisit” for that, but the two words are almost completely alike.

@purmou never seen that before  I still find it really weird when I find out that you guys never use what are very regular words to us, but quite cool :)

I’m off on holiday in actually not very long and I’ve only packed my clothes, still have to sort out which notes and books I’m bringing for revision, pack jewellery, all the chargers I can find, find some euros, fit all the books I got for christmas in my rucksack, weigh said rucksack, beg/blackmail/trick brothers into taking some books because rucksack is to heavy for the budget airline we had to get after BA cancelled our flight etc

And did I mention I’m trying to finish editing my first youtube video before I go :)

What’s the video about? (If you don’t mind me asking)

It’s a Merlin tribute video. Unless you’ve spent 5 years watching 48 hours of amazing characters, then watched basically all of them die in one episode, you have no idea the emotions Merliners are going through now. I start crying every time I remember what happened to them…

I’m just saying, don’t judge me :D

Oh by the way, my mum really doesn’t want me to go to college in the US. Her reason is ‘The way they look at international relations is so skewed, history isn’t going to be a good thing to study there’. So basically she said that your history is too biased  Would you guys agree?
There’s also the issue that I will have studied European, Asian and modern history much more than most people on the course, but haven’t studied any American history, ever.
Still want to come though, although if it doesn’t work, I’ll be happy with the Netherlands :D

America’s a little too self-confident of ourselves, honestly.

The history books like to play up all the good things, and downplay the bad things about us.

That said, unless you’re really dense, you know that that obviously isn’t true. I’ve never had an issue really knowing history, it’s not as every kid in America really thinks America is all that. Basically what I’m trying to say is that we are a little biased (in high school classrooms) but I think college level is different. I don’t think you’d have a problem leaning history here.

Every country, even if inadvertently, will play itself up a little in history(ahem US involvement in WWI), that’s not so bad. The problem is more that the US often doesn’t seem to be able to see things accurately. I read something about Castro earlier which was the reason I remembered the whole thing.

I agree with the college being much better. That’s why I’m not particularly bothered about it myself, I just wondered whether you gusy think there’s any truth in this idea?

There are plenty of professors here that have views that conflict with those of the U.S. government or those of the biased textbook writers. Colleges attract those kinds of people. ;)

And by the way, I don’t find American history all that interesting. You can cover it briefly if you want and then get more into it later, and that would be totally sufficient for college here.

Well, the way high schools teach stuff, yes, but personally, I think I see things accurately, because I love learning about history and understand the truth of things.

And I couldn’t say about college really, but I think that generally professors are pretty unbiased, but their views probably get in the way sometimes, but I don’t know.

And you don’t have to take American, you can do more of a concentration of European/Asian/African/etc.

There’s [a professor](Arthur Butz - Wikipedia) here who openly denies the holocaust, for example.

…And then there are some people who are must’ve had their light bulb shaken a few times…
