High School Class of 2015

Today’s SAT Question of the Day was grammatically incorrect! “The edelweiss appears to be fragile is an illusion…” lol!!!

@shmluza, Didn’t prep and I got a 201 on my PSAT. Long ways from NMSF. I’ll prep this summer.

I’m planning on doing some major prep this summer. I will practice and study on my own from now until next October, and I will probably take a one week prep course in August. I’m also planning on taking either the October or November SAT. My goal is 2300+ even though I know that’s a bit unrealistic.

UKGirl23, we actually talked about this in my global class. We looked at older versions of American textbooks that were incredibly biased (it was an article about “civil” Europeans who traveled to “barbaric” Asian nations). My point is in the past American history classes have been biased, but we have improved in studying history from an unbiased view. There are also great schools for history in America, like the University of Chicago.

Has anyone seen the flip side high school? I just saw it and it reminds me of CC.

@roseoak, Which prep course are you planning to take in August, for PSAT or SAT? Do you know any good prep companies offering it? I may take a course in Summer if a good one is available.

@Arabie, good job! Yes I think prep will make a difference. I didn’t really study this year but I did take SAT when I was in 8th grade. I will start studying after my summer camp.

@RoseOak, my goal is also 2300+ and I also feel it’s a bit unrealistic. but I’ll try. (I really think we are twins. This is scary…)

@shmluza, Which summer camp are you planning to go to? I just started looking into summer camps, haven’t shortlisted any yet? Some camps I’m interested in have overlapping dates.

I’m going to apply to Wash U in STL Summer Scholars program. :)

:( I’d love to go to a summer program but they’re all so expensive, and you need to be some sort of crazy genius to get into the free ones.

I just now saw a post goodnoodle made about the 49ers from a couple days ago, so I feel that I must respond–Bears all the way!

I’m never able to get that excited about sports teams. I like my team but I don’t hate other teams.

I don’t hate any team either. Football’s a moot point, the only teams I have a borderline dislike for would probably be the Steelers and maybe the Patriots.

Baseball on the other hand…I like the Reds.

I don’t have a baseball team. My basketball team is (big surprise) lakers.

I’m in Lanzarote, luckily they have free internet :)

@Shaywood I didn’t think you are that bad any more! But there must be some historical bias, otherwise how do you explain the US trade embargo on Cuba when you still freely trade with countries such as Saudi Arabia?

The main issue was the US-centricness of it, but that just means I need to be selective about courses. Also I’m sure this isn’t really a problem at top schools :)

@shmluza no way! I took the SAT in 8th grade too! I got a 1580, haha. How about you?

@Arabie The prep course I’m thinking about taking is a local one, so you wouldn’t know it. This woman in my general area has a bunch of different prep courses and different schools host them. There isn’t one at my school, but there are a few at other schools near me.

OMG RoseOak, You improved so much more than I did. I don’t quite remember, but I think I got something close to 1900. The only excuse I can give to myself is that this year I’ve been too busy. I had band and stuff every night before the PSAT. Anyway, next year I hope to do better because I WILL study.

There is no prep course near me. so it’s just me. I asked my parents to buy me the college board online thingy.

Psh sophomores hahahahahahahahhahahahhahahaha

This is the only place where I can look down on sophomores as a Junior lol. I’m 5’4/5’5 (on good days) so I can’t look down on them at school (literally) lollololol

UKgirl23, there is definitely bias in that respect, but I believe we’re becoming more aware of it. It’s just that the issues we have in terms of being US centric run deeply in the community as a result of the bias that was taught in schools all those years ago. (I hope you don’t think I was attacking you or something) But in colleges today that’s really starting to change.
