High School Class of 2015

@westwardbound naw, but some will help more than others. polsci is more helpful in the skills for analysis it gives you. i wouldn’t worry too much though.

Government and politics is viewed with a very poor status, at least by UK unis, which is why I didn’t choose it.

@UKgirl23 Ah, OK. I was imagining it as more of an English equivalent to Modern Studies up here.

What are you guys doing this summer?

Not going to Germany :(

Possibly Rome with my friends, but more likely just a trip or two to Paris. And a few weeks work experience and trying to get a job.

Hoping to qualify for FBLA Nationals, but if not there’s always HOBY and one of the college summer academies and swimming and orchestra camp. Maybe I’ll also get lifeguard certification…

I am hating life today. Semester 1 grades become final.
Precalc teacher lost my lost couple hw assingments. When I brought it up, she said it was too late, and I got a C+ (79.5) instead of the B- I deserved.

Spanish teacher lost a couple of my assignments. I asked her about it, and she told me “dont worry about the lost assignments. This is an unweighted course, so the percentage doesnt matter as long as its an A. You did good on the final, so once I enter that in, you’ll have an A- for sure.” She entered it in, and I looked on the online gradebook to see that I have a B+.

The teachers at my school suck. If this was something that was my fault, I wouldnt complain, or at least if the teachers admit when they lose stuff. They always like to think that theyre infallible and that you simply didnt turn it in. This is gonna screw up my gpa so much.

wow, those teachers do suck

I’m sorry to hear that, I hate teachers like that. Thankfully I had them in middle school and have not yet encountered them in high school.
Can you talk to your counselor/principal for help? Or maybe get your parents involved, because that’s totally unfair to you. I find that school adults are far more cooperative when parents start coming in and communicating their dissatisfaction.

^yea I agree
There’s must something he can do, it seems really unfair that he is punished for his teachers’ mistakes…

See, this is part of the reason why the US is so behind in education. Is it a wonder that nearly all the nations in Asia and many nations in Europe have long bumped us farther down the rankings? Far too many of us are being educated by arrogant, complacent, or otherwise incompetent teachers.

Grades are final today smh, not much can be done.

try talking to the school counselors or principal about this
to me, it seems like a really serious issue that your grades were significantly affected because your teachers were stupid

^Yeah, the school should be able to postpone grades for a day or two especially since yours is a special case. (your grades become final on a Wednesday? sorry, Friday just seems much more logical…)

^semester ended on Friday so they give till the following Wednesday for teachers to finish up.

Precalcs a dead cause. She lost both the hw and the hw log, which means even though I did do it, it’d be much more likely that I didn’t and was lying for my extra .5 percent. Counselor s wouldn’t believe it especially with the same situation in Spanish.

I’ve thought of a way to fix Spanish. There’s one assignment that I was absent for, and it wasn’t something that could be made up, so she said she was going excuse anyone absent from it…but she never did. If she could cancel it, it’d bump me to an A- (even though considering everything she’s lost I should have like 95.) but I feel about this. She’s going through a lot of emotional stuff (she broke down crying today with me after school.) also I’ve been disturbing her for like 10 minutes after school for the past 3 day to catch up with the grading and find my lost assignments, and I feel like she’s annoyed. I’m ask the counselor for advice on what I should do.

Update: talked to Spanish teacher. She said she meant to give me an A- and will talk to admin about it.

^ that’s good
Even though you said precalc is a dead cause, it still might be worth telling the counselors about that too

^ um… what?

I recalculated everything, and with the missing hw entered in I’d have a 79.997 In Precalc which wouldn’t even bring me to a B- so dead cause

That’s great for Spanish!
For precalc dang, your school doesn’t round up? It’s a freaking .003 percentage points away!
