Second marking period is over! no homework, yay! ski weekend.

I need a 92% on the 100 problem final for biology to get an A…If i do the extra credit it will go down to ~90-91 but its still gonna be tough, not to mention nobody has every gotten 100% on the test

I like biology but somehow I always have to struggle there to get an A. :p

HOW are your ECs going?

Right now, I’m doing: Mock trial, science bowl, piano (on my own), band, (I GOT INTO ALL STATE!!!) French club. When the weather is better, the tennis team will start and I hope to join that.

Are these enough? I mean I want to be in a top college.
I pretty much quit ice skating for about 4 months, because band makes me too busy. But I really miss skating and I hope to resume soon - after all state concert is over.

You’re good. Don’t focus on how many you do, but how you do it. Play a leadership role! if you can’t do that now, do it when you’re in upper class if you can.

I think lov2sk8 has made a good point.

Hey have you all thought about next year’s plan yet?

bumppppp… Let’s talk about next year’s plan!

I’m a current freshman as well. I honestly haven’t really thought about next year’s plan (gotta wait for the class signup sheets to come in first). As for my ECs, right now I have Youth Court, Partners Club (working with Special Olympics), and I’m participating in my district’s French Declamation for poetry on Saturday. Wish me luck!

Also, I’m getting even more involved with Partners Club because I’m joining the floor hockey team for regular members (not Special Olympics athletes) as a goalie (we’re sending a team to the tournament). That should be an interesting experience considering I’ve never played hockey goalie in my life…

My second semester schedule… (toughest schedule I could take)

Algebra II
French II
Lifetime Personal Fitness (required to graduate)
Honors English
Honors World History
Biology

I don’t know other courses but I know I’ll take AP chem and H. Precal next year.

when does your school give the class rank for freshman class?

Don’t know yet. I am going to guess pretty soon because the first semester just ended on Friday

My school is in a quarter system. But the class rank will not be given to freshmen until the end of the year. Upperclassmen get ranked at the end of every quarter.

i’m new to the thread! im trying to make a plan for next year b/c right now i don’t have any in school ecs. I am wondering how this is for courses…

Reg Precal/ i appealed but idk if i will get Honors or not…
AP NSL
H Eng. 10
H Bio
P.E.
Comp Programming 1
Spanish 5

ECS- currently i dont have any so any advice?

idk about class rank yet either…

welcome, musicmax!

Yep, I’ve thought about it and I will be taking these classes for sure.

Chemistry
Honors U.S History
Honors English 10
Pre-Calculus
French III

For my remaining course though, I’m not sure what I want to do. I’m wondering if I should test into AP Bio. However, I’m not what I want to do sure because science is not a strong point for me and because I want to get another gym credit out of the way at the same time.

mock trial in our school requires a try out… has anybody else faced this at your school? is it hard? also is anyone doing crew team? im wondering if i should join in the winter… o yea, i hav a 2 out of school ecs- indian violin and singing, but i want to get more involved in in-school activities. also, what are you guys planning to do in the summer?

^I’m doing crew, but it’s club, not school. It’s really fun you should try it out

My school’s system is really weird; there’s sort of an honor’s track, but not a ton of honor’s or AP classes. For example, this year I’m on the “honor’s track,” but I don’t have any honor’s classes, because for some reason our school doesn’t offer any for the ninth grade.

Next year my school will be offering AP Euro History, and AP Chemistry, both of which I’ll be taking. Also, I know I’ll be taking Brit Lit (English 10), Hebrew 3, Algebra 2/Trig, and depending on the available electives, band and debate. However, if these are not offered (they currently aren’t), then I’ll take theatre and Latin.

Our school is new, so we don’t have many options; we only have about ten electives (if that), and practically everyone takes the same courses.

As for EC’s, I’ll be continuing on with Girl Scouts (eleventh year). I’ll be taking Electronic Music (third semester), Music Theory 2, and possibly Chamber Music (I’ve played flute for six years) at CalArts. Also, next year will be my third year as editor-in-chief of my school’s Literary Magazine. It will also be my fourth semester manning the spotlights for my school’s theatrical production. And hopefully, I’ll once again be given the opportunity to be on the committee for our Relay for Life team!

Am I on the right track?

I’m currently in accelerated geometry as a freshman because in seventh grade, the highest possible class to take was pre-algebra. However, the subsequent year they decided to let students start taking algebra in 7th. I feel as if I’m behind now due to the school system. I currently have an easy 97% in accelerated geometry and it’s a breeze. Math is easily my best subject and it just comes so naturally to me.
Would it be possible for me to take algebra 2 over the summer? If so, should I take it? I live in the huntington beach/garden grove area by the way. Thanks! Sorry, I’m not so well informed about how taking summer classes works.

Kariner, see about online classes or see if your school offers summer school for Algebra 2.
