@starkali
I checked the link,
How did you start self-studying? I thinking about doing one over the summer, but I don’t know how to apply and when the tests are. can they be taken over the summer too, or would I have to wait until school starts up next year?

@EmBio, I don’t know about selfstudy. but I’ve known people who did that. They go to their counselor at the end of the calendar year, or even earlier, and tell him that they plan to take the AP exam.

Sophmore Schedule:
Algebra II
English 10
Spanish II
AP Euro
Honors Chem
Symphonic Band
Weights

ECs:
Volunteering at local animal shelter
HS and club soccer.

I’m pretty average :p

@narcissistic Thats pretty much what my Freshman Schedule looked like cept for different electives and Bio instead of Chem

Im taking:
Honors Pre-Calc
Honors Chemistry
Advanced Physics
Spanish 10 Native Language
English Literature
AP Statistics
AP World History

What’s the pre-req for AP STATS? Think I’ll be able to last with background in Honors Algebra2 & Honors Geometry with ( 100% ) in both classes?

All you need is some basic Algebra 2 for AP Stats, so you’ll be fine.

Hey, do you guys plan to take SAT subject tests next year? which subject?

I’m thinking maybe chemistry, if I do well in AP chem. I don’t want to take too many in one year. practically I should also take MATH II because I’ll be finishing up trig/precalc this time next year. but I really don’t want to do too many in one year. Do you think I should put off math until the fall or winter? I want to do chem right after the class.

^^I’m taking subject and APs next year. Already took the SAT subject test for Math 1 and Spanish 1. Taking the Chem, Math II, and Spanish II for SAT next year, along with the chem, spanish, and calc AP.

Just do them after you finish/close to finishing the course. They aren’t that bad. Get some tips from the SAT practice books (strategies for choosing answers) and you should be good!

And one question for all of you 2015ers…Are you guys starting college apps/process in any way right now? For instance, a bunch of kids, including myself, are starting to send videos to coaches start initial contact (camps, emails, meetings, etc). I know of others who are just contacting the dean of admission as of now to ask for advice.

Anyone in the same boat as me???

Perhaps the Physics one but not sure how in depth it is… If its really in depth I’d take it after AP Physics (Junior Year), if not probably Sophmore after Advanced Physics.

NO I haven’t started anything related to college apps. maybe next year I’ll start thinking about it.

Can you guys rate my sophomore schedule for next year?
Biology
Algebra 2
Geometry
English 2
U.S. History
Economics and Agricultural Management
Do you think Computer Maintenance or College Phycology would sound okay for colleges?
Thanks! :)

No AP classes? Schedules seems easy. Take the college psychology if you can.

OMG I can’t believe the freshman year is almost over. Now we’ll be sophomores! I still remember how we were sneered at here on CC. people said we shouldn’t worry about this and that, people didn’t even think we should be here.

I feel great to get my first AP exam DONE! - AP GOV!

Rate next year’s sophomore schedule and ECs?

Schedule:

Honors English II
AP Biology
Honors AlgII/Trig
Honors Chemistry
Honors Spanish III
Honors World History II
Piano I

ECs:
-Archaeology trip to Belize this summer
-Publishing Maya archaeology papers
-Trout Unlimited volunteering
-Starting indoor lacrosse club
-Shark Savers volunteer captain (Go to conferences, local schools, colleges, librarys, community events, etc and talk about shark conservation)
-CCA volunteering
-Volunteering at Bald Head Island Conservancy
-Starting a ocean conservancy club
-Hosting a TEDx conference

The research paper publishing looks good. The schedule isn’t that good. Take more AP classes.

I think one AP is good. Two APs are better of course, but many schools don’t give sophomores that opportunity. I fought hard to get two APs in - AP chem and APUSH. I got into AP chem only because I’ll take a summer chem crash course.

Do you have plans to take SAT subjects in sophomore year?

I’m taking on next month for biology.
