What is 0 period?

Although I HATED having finals before break because everything was crammed in at the end, I have to say, I’m glad I don’t have finals coming back after break. =P Best of luck to you al with those! <3

My school starts at 8, but I have to get up at 6:30 because I ride the bus. :/

Also, kitts asks a good question, what IS a 0 period?

It’s an extra period they tack on to the beginning of the school day before first period. My middle school had it for band and chorus.

Zero period (called zero hour at my school) is just an additional period before official school hours, so some people take an additional class. I’m taking health for zero hour next trimester.

^^^And if you aren’t taking anything are you allowed to sleep in? That would be nice.

God, I wish I had that (zero period). I’d be able to get the useless reqs my school imposes out of the way.

Because CLEARLY, we need a term of HS Health (equivalent to a semester since we’re on block schedule) to be functioning citizens.

A majority of highschool class give you material you will never use.

At my school, health comes with biology. Anyways, about to go to my zero period

For those who take 3-4-5 AP’s, how is the load?

In my high school career, I didn’t challenge myself BUT next year I am looking to take 5 AP Courses.

In your experience, how much HW do you get with such classes? Do you have time to hang out w/ friends? Do you have stress? Thanks in advance.

PS I live in Dubai, it’s pretty fun ;)

Depends on the APs. The hardest APs are generally considered to be Physics C, Calculus BC, and Chemistry. US History can be hard depending on your reading comprehension skills. However, your strengths/weaknesses may differ.

Typically, 3-5 APs is manageable if you mix hard ones with easy ones. Easy APs are ones that you can self study for the week before the exam, like AP Psych, AP Stats, AP Human Geo, etc.

If you self study these courses, you get no homework :D

Also, excuse any errors in this post. I’m currently running on three hours of sleep.

I think it really depends on the student. I found AP Chem and BC to be pretty easy(I took them both last year). In our class, 5 out of the 9 kids got 5’s on the Chem(2 were seniors) and almost everyone got a 5 on BC(except for a few seniors with senioritis. A guy told me he had no idea how to integrate a week before the exam and he still got a 4)This year I am in Bio and Euro which seem harder. Then again all Bio teachers in my schools are ridiculously. No one gets above B+'s.

Personally I think CompSci is the stupidest AP exam…Stats or Econ is probably the easiest. I’m thinking of “self studying” compsci and taking the exam anyways even though I know a fair bit of Java. Next year I’m thinking of self studying Econ and E&M while taking US, Mechanics, and English.

And about waking up times…I can wake up at 7:55 and make it to school at 8. And I could wake up at 7:58 and make it at 8 if we didn’t have a stupid dress code lol

The PSAT is weird…the curves are so much harsher and I actually think people do better on the SAT. My PSAT score(times 10) was only 40 points more than my 8th grade SAT score and 30 points lower than my 10th grade SAT score. I hate the critical readings. I always do well on them in practice and then when I take the test my critical reading score stays the same. Happened on the ACT and the SAT which is forcing me to take both of those 1 more time.

@elf + @anime: I think it’s cool that you have a 0 period. It would have been nice to get my stupid classes out of the way as well.

@texanhowler: I’m only taking 2 APs this year, but from friends who are in 5, I can say that’s it’s tough. You just have to be able to really get down to work and not mess around. I have a friend who is in 5 right now and she messes around on the computer while she does her homework, so she often stays up until ridiculous hours, and then complains about it. shrug I think you’ll be able to manage, you just have to be diligent about it.

@TeamRocketGrunt: Aww, I hope you’re able to get more sleep! I only got 4ish, but I have no school today. hugs

@schakrab: I actually took AP Bio as a fish, and it was HARD for me, just because I never had a class with the rigor of it. It was a hard class, but the teacher gave ridiculous curves on the test, so I ended up with an A in the class overall. AP Chem is supposedly impossible at my school though, I’m taking it next year. Also, I totally wish I could wake up that late and still be on time for school!! =P

Also, good luck with those retakes. When are you planning to take them again?

I am SO CLOSE to be done with Angels and Demons haha. With my last day of freedom, I’m planning to finish all my stupid APAH homework and get a little ahead. Plus, I have a bajillion debate speeches that I neglected to write during winter break.

Eh, whatever. The relaxation was worth it.

I’m taking Spanish zero period which means I get the last period of the day off so I go home at 1:09. Next year I’m taking AP Econ, English Lang, us history, and Environmental science, I should be find right?

I’ve heard that AP Environmental Science is super easy, AP Econ isn’t too bad, and APUSH has long readings. I don’t know about AP Lang though.

You guys are allowed to take AP Bio in sophomore year? We aren’t allowed to take it until senior year at my school. Meh.

@texanhowler I’m taking 5 APs next year too. I was looking through my schedule for junior year today, and I was just thinking to myself, “What am I doing to myself?” I guess I need to learn to manage time well and NOT procrastinate. That’ll be hard.

Next year I’m taking:
APUSH
AP Lit
AP Chem
AP Physics C
AP Calc BC
Newspaper (full weight because of amount of work)
Spanish IV (also full weight because of rigor)

Ughh… Wish me luck.

@Pi: I think you’ll be fine!! I heard AP Lang is a little challening, but I hear AP Econ is fine. =)

@desigirl: We’re actually allowed to take AP Bio as a freshman. I never had any experience at all with biology (my sciences in middle school were messed up because of moving), so that made taking it as a little fish more challenging. =P

Also, have you guys already signed up for your schedules for junior year? I haven’t even THOUGHT about my junior year classes, ugh. I guess I should do some planning or something, because there’s a lot of classes I want to take…

I also need to learn to not procrastinate, especially with PSAT and SAT next year. :/

@desigrl1432 We’re allowed to take AP Biology sophomore year. I’m taking it next semester. Although, we can’t take APES until junior year for some reason.

@above AP Chem, AP Physics C, AP Calc BC in one year? Yeah good luck.
I think this will be my schedule:
APUSH
AP Calc AB (**** BC)
AP Psychology
AP Biology
CP English 11
Some stupid art class

mine is:
Precalculus Honors
AP English Language
AP US History
AP Environmental Science
AP Human Geography
AP Macroeconomics
AP Microeconomics
Adv Sports Marketing

junior year schedule seems super light, but i actually want to incorporate all of those things into my future (international agricultural economics). and yes, ap micro/macro are two separate courses at my school, and they’re both jokes.

Adv Sports Marketing

Wow I wish my school had this. I want to get into sports for my career. Anyone know any good sports careers?
