High school class of 2016

@BattleForLA Haha, I know right? What AM I doing to myself? Although I’m not completely sure about Calc BC, though. We have to get a certain grade in Precalc to take it…so I don’t even know as of now if I can take it.

@afroninja26 That’s kinda funny, because right now I’m half on CC and half studying Macro. We had the option to take it during the summer, so I took it. But then everyone forgets it all by the exam in May a year later, hence the studying. And it’s good that you’re actually taking classes that have something to do with what you will do in the future!

@AlmondJoy We scheduled in October  But we’re allowed to change our schedules until March.

@catchinginfinity: Sry for the late answer, but no the journalism program I’m going to isn’t Jcamp. It’s this camp at Ball State University. Are you going to Jcamp?

My Junior year classes SHOULD be:
US History
Computer Science
Communication Applications (Speech)
English III
Algebra II
Chemistry
PE (semester) IED (Semester)
Spanish 2

There’s no telling how badly my school’s going to F’up my schedule though. :/

desi - Nope! Journalism sounds super cool but I’ve never looked into it…isn’t J-camp supposed to be REALLY prestigious or something?

@BattleforLA + @afroninja: Both your schedules look good! I heard Micro/macro is a joke, and Human Geo IS a joke, haha. I took it last year. ;)

@desi: Wow, OCTOBER? That’s EARLY! I know we’re allowed to change up to April or something. I have no idea when we’re signing up. It’ll probably be after we get our rank letters for the first semester, so I’m thinking February? Honestly, I’m putting off thinking about my schedule as long as possible. =P

@Quadratic: It sucks that your school messes up your schedules. :/

I really feel like I should do more homework tonight (I’ve just finished the bare minimum), but I’m really not feeling it. Probably going to go for a quick run and then sit on my coach, music up, and research for debate. =)

I DON’T WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL TOMORROW THOUGH. sobs Goodbye, freedom and relaxation. It was really nice knowing you.

Wow I am so mad. So currently, my school operates on a block schedule and you have to take honors chem or bio and then the next year you can take honors advanced chem or bio one semester and AP the next… but they’re changing it so next year, there is no honors chem or bio, and you can just take 2 classes for AP chem/bio instead of 3. I don’t know if that made any sense but I am REALLY ANGRY because I could have saved two class periods and taken physics. :/

But on the bright side, we have a two hour delay tomorrow! It’s supposed to be 6 degrees tonight even though it was 60-70 today. Weather here is so weird.

Thanks, and yeah, sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. It gets better as the year progresses and it’s not as hectic though. :)

@Almondjoy7
I have school tomorrow too, but I finished the hw due tomorrow. Not doing studying or finished the hw due later this week so I can watch Auburn vs. FSU.

@loltired - We have a 2 hr delay too! My AP World test is still on though. ):

It’s so annoying when you have a 2 hour delay and go to school hoping some really big test is cancelled, but nope… it’s still on.

@catchinginfinity: I didn’t know much about it before, but it looks really cool! I am going to look into for next year though, because the deadline has passed. Thanks for telling me about it!

@Almondjoy7: You guys get rank letters that tell you exactly what your rank is?

We have no school tomorrow, because there’s about 8 in of snow outside and it’s 12 degrees below zero.

@loltired: Wow 70 degrees to 6? That’s crazy!

I have an F in AP bio. my semester ends in 2 weeks. I talked to my counselor and it is possbile to switch out for 2nd semester. I am wondering that if I switch out, will it affect my UC admission chances? Need advice/help ASAP. thanks!

Lots of Minnesota schools got cancelled again tomorrow. :raised_hands:

I honestly think getting an F will affect your chances more. Colleges want to see you challenge yourself, but not if it means you’re failing. You should definitely switch, unless you KNOW you’ll do dramatically better next semester.

Yeah, I don’t think I can do better next semester. I study my butt off, but the tests just kill me. I want to go to a UC so… and the teacher I have is first time AP teacher… I had her as a regular bio teacher and she wasnt very good teacher even in that class.

@loltired: I’m not sure I fully understand, but it sucks that you had to take extra classes. YAY for the 2 hour delay though!!

@BattleforLA: Yeah, I’ve only done the stuff due tomorrow. Not on the mood to do anything more, so I’m just going to chill tonight, and save the rest for later this week. ;)

@desigirl: I thought everybody did…? After each semester, we get a fancy little letter that has our rank out of the total kids in our grade. Like I said, my school is super competitive about rank. I had no idea nobody else did that though. =P

Also, I’m jealous of ALL OF YOU IN THE COLD STATES. I only wish I had no school. =P It’s an easy 40 degrees tomorrow, so school for me. I think it’s supposed to be in the 60s towards the end of the week, actually.

@np2734- Hmm. If I were you, I’d drop out. Taking an easier class will increase your GPA and decrease your overall stress level. I’m sorry to hear this D:

My school isn’t cancelled for tomorrow (at least for now). As I’m typing this, I can hear the wind blowing and all that, and I feel like I’m going to lose electricity soon. My area loses power easily, which is pretty annoying. During Sandy I had a week without power and three days of super coldness in a huge October snowstorm :(

@imhkim do you know if that grade will carry out on my transcript?

@Almondjoy We have a BIG class (around 1100 sophomores) and we have this thing where if you are in the top 3% you get recognized, but we never actually know what rank we have.

It’s ~16 degrees Fahrenheit here (-9 degrees Celsius), but the school sent out a memo saying that “all of our heaters are working.” So I’m assuming that school’s open tomorrow :/

@np2734 College adcoms always say getting a B in an honors course is better than getting an A in a regular course, but that the A is always better than a C in the honors course. I definitely think the F can be substituted for the C in this case. Switch out for the transcript, but if you’re so inclined and want to prove yourself to colleges, you could still self study AP Biology exam for the rest of the year.
