I’m actually reevaluating going to an Ivy (if I get in lol)

Team: No, not really. Maybe Tulane, or Emory, or W&M…or American (and American isnt really top tier) Otherwise no. Nothing extremely hard to get in to.

Current Top 10:
Tulane
American
William & Mary
Wake Forest
Richmond
Howard
Hampton
Emlry
GaTech
UMiami

So I’m not sure how imperative taking SAT II’s will be.
And even if I got in to a top tier school, I can’t afford it.

@Team -This year or next year?
@loltired - I was actually considering SSP, but it seems really competitive and I like math a little more. /: But it seems like such a great opportunity. Still on the fence about that one.

Is anyone else being forced to memorize the unit circle?

^We really only have to memorize the first quadrant and use reference angles in my class.

I had to memorize the unit circle in precalculus, it was probably the only thing we did in that class
we had competitions with our intern to see who could correctly fill out a unit circle first… (I always won ;))

Catchinginfinity, next year. Can’t apply this year since I’m not a junior.

I never really memorized the unit circle. I mean, what is there to memorize?

@TeamRocket: You’re going to KICK BUTT! Right now, confidence is the main thing that you definitely need. I actually took both Molecular and Ecology, 720 and 740 respectively. So definitely not stupid, because my scores suck. Also, you definitely should go to a school that you want to, Ivy or not. You’ll get in.

@loltired: I don’t even know what SSP is haha. I’m not doing much this summer either, so don’t worry. I REALLY want to go to this awesome debate camp in Florida, but my parents probably won’t let me go. =(

@observeraffect: I had to memorize it while I was during Kumon in like 7th grade. It wasn’t really memorizing for me though, more of a “just learned it because I had to do problems 109830198201982 times” kind of thing.

//

So I talked to the consuler today about taking the SAT 2. After telling her my scores, she said it really depended on what schools I wanted to. I told her that my dream schools would be like UChicago, Colombia, or Rice. She basically replied with “Yeah, you’re probably going to want to retake it”. But when we found out it’s not offered in March, she recommended I take them in June. She asked what I got the Bio AP exam last year though, and when I replied with “5”, she said, “Oh, that’s so much harder!”. After THAT, she was more like, “I don’t want to stop you from taking them, because that may be the difference from you making it in or not, but you’ll have to consider it because of time. That’s what it really comes down to: time.”

SO, I don’t know what to do anymore. GAHHH.

They also have the subject tests in May! Might conflict with AP test studying, though… I mean, also, you don’t have to retake the bio SAT IIs. There are tons of of (well maybe not tons) subject tests and you’re probably going to take Math II so… and you’re only a sophomore, you have time! SSP is summer science program. I don’t know too much about it but I found their website and it seems really interesting hahah.

I have a friend going to Stanford for a week to learn about law and other legal stuff from professors and do a bunch of mock trials… I’m so jealous!

It snowed last night… which was really weird, since it was 60 degrees during the day. But I went outside to mail something and I slipped on the ice 3 times LOL. I have a bunch of cuts on my hands that I didn’t even notice until now oops.

Also, @TeamRocketGrunt, was time a big issue for you on the SAT II?
I took the first barron’s practice test today, was kind of freaking out, and wasted like 10 minutes doing useless crap but I didn’t get to about 12 problems… eh.
I came back later and did all the ones I didn’t do earlier and I only missed 2! I’m just nervous though, since 50 problems in 60 minutes seems like a lot…

@loltired: The only reason I’m thinking about taking the SAT 2s for Bio again is because I want to go into Pre-Med. So, I feel like that’s very important for colleges. I’m going to take Chem next year though, and probably World History this year. And probably Math as well. So I guess I’m ok?

Also, I am SO jealous of your friend!! I would DIE to be able to do that.

I’m crossing my fingers and toes for snow. The high tomorrow is 37 and the low like 15, and there’s a large chance of ice, because it’s so cold and windy. If I got to sleep in tomorrow or Friday, I would be such a happy person. Or, I would write debate speeches, since I, er, have another tournament this weekend that I’m unprepared for…

//

I have an Anatomy test tomorrow and I just can’t seem to focus. It’s one of my hardest classes, but the stuff seems pretty easy to grasp and I’m taking breaks and it seems like I’m actually absorbing everything. I think my nap helped a lot, haha.

Apparently this is one of the warmer days until the end of winter for us, but it was still about 10 degrees today… Oh joy.

@desigirl

It was around 80 degrees today for me

@desigirl: I can’t say I feel you, haha. It was in the high 50s/low 60s for us today, but it’s going to be like in the 20s tomorrow. This Texas weather is the strangest thing…

@almondjoy, Rice tho <3 Their BS/MD program looks pretty good atm. Eh, idk; even if I get into an Ivy, I probably won’t be able to afford it; I don’t qualify for financial aid, but paying for me would burden my parents a LOT, and I don’t really want to do that. Idk at this point
As for the math SAT II, I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping that there aren’t many probability/binomial probability/permutation/combination/logic problems on there. Exam’s in three days, so I guess we’ll see.

@loltired, in the actual exam, I ended up with 9 unanswered (some I skipped; others, I had the intention of coming back to). When I used Barron’s, I could never finish either; Barron’s helped me cement concepts into my head, but it didn’t help with speed building. Chung is helping me with that, I think, because of Chung’s focus on application over Barron’s focus on content.

So, for the company that I want to start, I had a product idea (well, several product ideas, actually). I pitched them to my US History teacher (who showed us “The Men Who Made America”), and he agreed to be the first investor! I think I’m getting a few grand or so from him. I explained to him that I’m completely new to this and that there is a risk of me failing (but if I don’t, the payout will be tremendous), and he replied, “The money is in the risk.”

I love this guy.

School’s cancelled again for most of Minnesota tomorrow.

420 blaze it

I haven’t gone to school since the 17th, and I won’t go back until the 28th. With us missing so much school, they decided to cancel all midterms because they were supposed to be this week. There are definitely pros and cons to this situation. Also I live in Virginia, and it didn’t even snow that much. It was the ice that was the main problem, and the wind chill was so low that it made everything worse.

You’re extremely lucky.

I got a 99 on my AP bio test today. Everyone else got like 70s.

swag4dayz

Like honestly what the hell
for mock trial i have my cross examination right
so we have 4 teams at our school and our head coach person had us each make google drive folders for each of the teams and share them with our individual coaches but OKAY my coach decides to share all the crap my team has done with another team, that’s struggling and full of lazy idiots who won’t write their own stuff, and THIS OTHER GUY LITERALLY STEALS MY ENTIRE CROSS, COPIES IT WORD FOR WORD (I read my copy while he was saying his and it was the same words literally like) AND HE DARES TO PRESENT IT LIKE WHILE HIS TEAM IS SCRIMMAGING AGAINST MINE??? the NERVE of that guy. He even asked me to help him read over his direct and stuff like 2 months earlier, and now he just straight out steals my stuff? I told the coach who shared it with the other team and he’s just like whatever, you guys aren’t going to the same regionals… BUT LIKE WHAT NO STOP IT’S NOT OKAY I’M SO MAD

oops sorry for the rant
but i’m honestly not sorry ugh just had to get that off my chest
