High school class of 2016

I have to make my junior schedule tomorrow. How does it look
AP Comp Sci
AP Physics 1
APUSH
AP Calc BC (Depending on the teacher situation)
H English
Art/TA (I want to do TA so bad but it might look bad)

@SwaggyC‌ looks good to me! AP tests ughh… i’m like on the borderline for all of them

I’ve recently lost motivation to go to an Ivy, honestly. Anyone else feel that way?

@TeamRocketGrunt I haven’t exactly lost motivation to go to an Ivy, but they’re no longer my top choice. I did a ■■■■ ton of research on colleges during Spring break, because a bunch of my friends visited a few. I’ve decided I will only have 2 Ivies on my college list, and both are a bit down from my ED option: Claremont McKenna. Given up Ivies, but not other top schools. (A little different than your comment, but oh well)

@TeamRocketGrunt‌ - Does that mean no tutoring? lol. Listen to some inspirational music my man.

Next year, junior year, i am taking these classes:
CHS pre calc
AP english lang and comp
APUSH
AP statistics
Physics
Spanish 3

@TeamRocketGrunt‌
Yeah, I feel the same way. I’m starting to think that it would be nice to go to the university that’s five minutes from my house. It’s a good school, and I wouldn’t have to worry too much about admission, housing, or even lunch.

You don’t need to go to an Ivy to be successful.

Joining all of you posting next year schedules. I hope to take the following next year:

AP Art History
AP Calculus BC
AP Language and Composition (Self Study)
AP Computer Science (Self Study)
Japanese 3
Chemistry Honors
Theology (required)
Speech
English electives (required)

What do you guys think?

@Woandering‌ Wow, you’re taking AP Calc BC Junior year? That’s awesome, bro. I’m planning to take it senior year. And I wish my school taught Japanese! We have Mandarin, but I did the lazy thing of continuing on Spanish since I’d already taken 1. Although I did take Latin 1 online, I don’t know if I’ll continue it though.

JUNIOR SCHEDULE PARTY!
AP Computer Science
AP Calculus AB
AP Language and Composition
AP Chemistry
AP United States History
Spanish 3 Honors
Experimental Science or maybe Latin 2 online

@awakeningvenus‌
Nice schedule man. 10/10.
@Woandering‌
Nice schedule
Do you guys think I should take Art or Teacher Assistant then art over the summer? Also would my schedule look a lot worse if I took AB instead of BC?

@SwaggyC‌
I’m planning to take AB before BC too. I think it’s a good idea because it’ll prepare us (or me) for the first semester of BC, and we’ll have a better understanding of it. Hopefully.
I don’t know if being a teacher assistant is particularly looked at by colleges, but if it’s something you want to do, I would go for it. With rigorous Junior schedules, or any schedule at all, you deserve at least one or two classes that you’d either enjoy or not have to work so hard.

@SwaggyC I think it’ll depend on your area of interest and how your school works. Try to take BC if you think you might major in the hard sciences or engineering. Take AB if either your school requires you to, or you’re more interested in humanities and arts.

TA is super debatable. Will you be able to learn something from it? Looking at it from an objective college admission stand point, it may seem you’re trying to take an easy class, unless you already show interest in tutoring and teaching. BUT, if you’re a TA for a great teacher and you do a great job, the teacher could write your LOR, which would show how you really spent time as a TA. Basically, I would do it if the teacher would write a great letter, if we look only at college admissions.

@awakeningvenus‌ Our school recommends all students doing well in the math honors track to take BC. Your schedule looks great, haha, filled with APs. Between envirosci and Latin, take what interests you more. Languages vs science. If they are perfectly equal, I would take Latin, because it could help you learn a multitude of European languages, or at least, when you’re in Italy, you have a sense of what words mean.

I’m a Class of 16’er!

@Woandering‌
I was actually considering taking experimental science, but I don’t know if my school will be offering it next year. It’s pretty much a class with a focus on science fair, and I really want to try to go to state next year. If it isn’t offered at school, I’ll definitely take Latin 2 though!

@SwaggyC‌ Honestly I think AB is a bit boring… xD Maybe cuz our BC teacher is awesome
It’s not that hard though prepping for the AP test is a little stressful

My spanish teacher accused me and the guy next to me of cheating on a test. Someone take an ice pick and jam it in my retina I am 100% done.

@SwaggyC‌
That sounds painful… And why do teachers not notice when students cheat, but suspect them when they don’t? Your teacher isn’t penalizing you or anything, is he/she?

Speaking of cheating, I once let my friend use my homework. I ended up getting a 90% and he got 100%. And mine had more actual work then his. And obviously this ain’t something you can bother a teacher about.

@awakeningvenus‌
We both might get 0s which basically kills my grade. Her explanation I was “moving around” but I didn’t do anything I haven’t done before. Apparently she told the other guy his hand was tapping on the desk like he was trying to tell me something. There was only 1 hard question on the test and she asked me why I didn’t just guess when there was like 10 minutes left when I talked to her -_-.

@SwaggyC‌
I think your teacher might has trust issues… Maybe you could tell her that if she doesn’t believe you, you’d be fine with taking an alternative test to show that you know the material? What I can’t believe is that she’d suspect you after having you in her class for a year. She’s got to know you well enough by now…
