High school class of 2016

I can’t imagine what some of you sound like irl.

Bombastic and socially inept? At least in my case lol.

The Wharton thing looks pretty cool but learning about core business subjects sounds so boring :X

@cloudchamber same ap psych and tech are my easy As >_>

I usually do Upward Bound every summer but next year I’m gonna apply for MITES, I’m Hispanic and I have the grades but I’m not really involved with my school or community so that really hurts. Hopefully I can make it.

minority-exclusive programs are so counter-intuitive imo

I think programs should be more income based rather than minority exclusive. A lot of programs really cost a lot of money and a lot of kids are left out because it is hard to afford them. It’s a lot easier for well connected children with most likely college grad parents to explore science and do all of those science fairs a lot easier. But I just don’t really like how it’s minority based. Blacks and Hispanics tend to be poorer but sometimes they come from families where both parents went to college and have really high incomes. There are tons of Whites and Asians who aren’t so lucky with income and don’t have parents that went to college.

yeah I can definitely agree with that
we’re past the days when race was an absolute determination of income

I know a Hispanic girl who’s gotten five publications so far. She’s graduating this year.

She’s got the ovarian advantage, the Hispanic advantage, and awesome EC accomplishments. I’m going to go cry brb

Swim team friend graduated last year:

African American, Recruited(?) Athlete (and captain of our HS swim team), top5% of class (we don’t have valedictorians). ECs include being the best at 100 free in the state sigh.

nerfURM

Are any of y’all URM’s too?

Yes

@‌halibo

I’m an Asian male, the worst race/gender combination for college apps.

I’m a white guy, so neutral-negative idk.

And no way I’m gonna be a recruited athlete, not happening.

I played lacrosse during freshman year but discontinued sophomore year and most likely won’t play again. I don’t really like the sport but sometimes I regret it because our team ended up making it to conference. I don’t think I would have ever gotten that good though.

Black male over here

Same as @TeamRocketGrunt‌

lol I’m a white girl in STEM… does that count as an “underrepresented minority?”

Same as @TeamRocketGrunt‌ and @Woandering‌.
Does anybody know if table tennis courts? It’s such an Asian/Chinese sport though…

“Does anybody know if table tennis courts? It’s such an Asian/Chinese sport though…”

Truer words have never been spoken.

@Cloudchamber‌
You have what I like to call an ovarian advantage.
