High school class of 2016

Finished Invisible Man. A fascinating book, I recommend it to anyone who’s interested in race relations or bildungromans.

I am about…two hours away from submitting my CBYX app, and probably two days away from submitting my YES app. So nervous!!

I’m getting a phone soon. Welcome, another source of distraction and procrastination.

@Woandering‌ Ooooh, what phone?

@alzhao‌

iPhone 6 :smiley: Almost got a 5s because my parents think the 6 looks ugly.

Got a 5S last year as a first smart phone. It + pangu jailbreak (for ios8) = amazing

@ThatOneWeirdGuy‌

What are the significant benefits of jailbreak?

@Woandering‌

Essentially, being able to do stuff that the untampered-with operating system and App Store don’t allow you to do. Apple is known for being restrictive and monopolizing. It’ll put a second app store called “Cydia” on your phone and you can download a bunch of stuff from that that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to. It also completely messes with the operating system on the phone to allow for the software downloaded from Cydia to work.

For me, free downloaded music was a necessity. I use Music Box.

If you do decide to jailbreak, I highly recommend this tutorial (it’s easy): <a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube;

It’s not without its downsides, though. Apple doesn’t like it, so any warranty you have on your phone is gone, assuming they can actually access the software on the phone (i.e, the phone itself isn’t destroyed).

Also, if you do jailbreak, I highly recommend following this tutorial so that your phone is much more secure, since you’ll be without most of Apple’s security built into the untampered-with operating system. <a href=“How To Secure Jailbroken iPhone | Change Root SSH Password - YouTube”>How To Secure Jailbroken iPhone | Change Root SSH Password - YouTube;

There’s also this TaiG jailbreak apparently. If your interested, just use the same guys tutorials.

Also, you won’t be able to update every time a new version of iOS comes out, because it’ll “erase” the jailbreak. Any time you want to do that, you’ll have to update via iTunes and rejailbreak your device. You don’t really need to do that until the version is just too old.

All that being said, do your own research in the matter and find out if you want to. It really just depends on what specifically you want to be able to do.

@ThatOneWeirdGuy‌

Thanks for the info!

I’d rather not jailbreak at this time. I’m using an app called Mustify on my iPad which downloads music for free (not all music but way more than enough). Other than the free music and free apps (which I don’t need right now), I don’t see any huge benefits.

I might do it later though.

Android Gang!! over here. I have a Galaxy.

@PoisonIvy20 Same! In the time my friends with iPhones have gone through at least 2-3 phones each (in some cases), my Galaxy’s still held up after about 18 months… then they wonder why I won’t switch.

@Woandering: Yay, a phone!! I got a 5S last year, and not gonna lie, it was really great. It can be distracting, but at the same time, if you use your phone wisely, it can be a great asset and huge time-saver.

@rumorsareflying: I definitely feel. I want to go out of state, but alas, financing is going to be such a huge problem. I have too many siblings, haha.

@awakeningvenus: Ahh, that’s so cool that you’re starting an internship. My school connects us with some as well, so I’m planning to get one during the summer. I think if I don’t do a summer program, taking an online course is also a really great idea.

@evan241: Good luck with Scholastic! <3 Let us know the results!!

@PoisonIvy20‌ @ThatPurpleKoala‌ Woohoo Team Android! I have the OnePlus One, which I would totally recommend if you can get your hands on it.

Sorry @Woandering‌ I’m kind of really against Apple oops haha

@alzhao‌

Haha np. Everyone’s got different preferences.

@Almondjoy7 Thanks for the good vibes <3 Hoping for the best!

I have a cell phone…somewhere…it’s from 2006 but it still works! Plus, it’s red! still in the last decade I’m just…frugal…haha.

Grrr. Some of my friends have been receiving their PSAT score reports in the mail, and I haven’t gotten mine yet. I know around what score I got, but the suspense is still killing me.

I just want to know when they’ll email us.

Do they send emails out about it? On the College Board website, they ask for a code that’s on the score report.

No emails…sorry

Derp. Just found out my friend lied to me. They got scores from an online grading system.

Last year, I got an email from collegeboard that said I could access my score online. So I’m assuming I’ll get another email like that…? Or I’ll just wait until my GC tells me after break.
