High school class of 2016

@UnicornDuchess Yes they do in college admissions, don’t get oversensitive, and stop with the self-victimization.

@UnicornDuchess You bring up a good point. Good thing there are stuff like low income and first generation status to increase your chances for admission to select universities (specifically UC’s).

@UnicornDuchess And at your snarky comment about blacks and hispanics having it easier I say this: Being a URM will NOT get you into Harvard or any ivy for that matter. Yes it’s an advantage, but not an overwhelming one to the point where we can score marginally lower on our SAT subject tests or actual sat scores. We put in just much effort into the college admission process as any other applicant and I can’t stress enough that we get in on our OWN merits not our ancestors.
@awakeningvenus Season 2 isn’t out until 2016 kill me now.

@awakeningvenus @princetonboii Believe it or not, I have watched all of Attack on Titan (all seasons) However, half of the episodes were in English and the rest in Japanese. (No spoilers for you.) I had to say that the show was crafted beautifully.

Wait…i thought season 2 wasn’t out at all.

@Woandering

People who have good AP teachers don’t need to study for the AP exams if they’ve been paying attention in class. I do not have good AP teachers; therefore, I have to study.

The only animu I enjoy is Naruto, and even that is a guilty pleasure.

@princetonboii I forgot to mention that I watched most of the show on the internet… soo ya.

@TeamRocketGrunt same. my APUSH class is an easy A… but I need to study for the AP test since our teacher treats it like a regular USH class.

@princetonboii Maybe you should go back and read my original comment, because what you said was my exact point. Or do I need to work on my sarcasm?

@ZucchiniSoup Self-victimization? I’m sorry that I havent even started applying to college and everyone is encouraging me to apply to the Ivys because “your stats as a URM will totally get you in,” even though my standardized test scores are much lower than those of admitted students. On the other hand, my Asian friend with the same stats is getting discouraged from even applying! What kind of culture is this where we ENCOURAGE certain students to be subpar? But please, forgive me for wanting to be deserving of whatever college I get into.

I haven’t completely caught up to the show yet, but that’s because I’m watching it with my sister, and between the two of us, we hardly have any free time together. :’(

@awakeningvenus aye thanks!!

I actually haven’t watched the English yet, just the Japanese. And the manga though I’m a little behind. I don’t really have time to watch TV during the school year cause it’s not a priority, but this summer I will and am pumped.

I started watching hunter x hunter and I’m pretty addicted as well

I really like anime with blood and light horror. Like Mirai Nikki, Deadman Wonderland, Attack on Titan, Ghost Hunt, and Another. I haven’t really had time to watch anything in a while though.

Got my driver’s test tomorrow!!!

I’m not very familiar with affirmative action in the US. I know the international pool is even more competitive, but are some internationals more desirable than others? Do colleges look at citizenship or ethnicity?

anyone here play vidya games? :I

@JaeHwanLoL I play: League of Legends, Combat Arms, Final Fantasy, GTA 5, Watch Dogs, Runescape 3… list goes on. I stopped for now because of testing…

@IBGuy101 I used to play a lot but this year i’ve had almost no free time and i hate it. I’m just waiting for my cornell decision in december lmao. If i get in i’m dropping this whole trying at school thing lmfao(obviously not enough to get rescinded) and if i get deferred/rejected(pls no) then my misery continues for another semester.

@Gatortristan Amen. Amen. Amen. If I get into my top 3 choice schools (UCB UCLA UCSD) I will drop every EC i have second semester and just relax and take it easy and wait till I go to college.

I’ve been playing Nintendogs all night despite having to study for the ACT this weekend

I thought what @UnicornDuchess said was supposed to be sarcastic. Here is an excellent article on affirmative action written by Stanford alumni David Thiel (co-founder of PayPal) and Peter Sacks (former COO of PayPal): https://alumni.stanford.edu/get/page/magazine/article/?article_id=43448

@JaeHwanLoL
After playing The Last of Us on PS4 (my first Sony console; prior to owning a PS4, I owned a 360), video games are just ruined for me. I compare everything I play to The Last of Us, and hardly anything feels as good to play :confused:

The Last of Us is like the most perfect game in existence.

Though recently I’ve been playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, and it’s pretty great.
