High school class of 2016

Fee waivers and my dad. He’s willing to pay $300 over the span of these next months.

@michelle426 Honors Calc instead of Calc AB. I was so excited but I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up.

@YoAdriaaaaan - With my tears.

Still fighting for AP Physics 2, but the principal said we’d get it by Thursday.

Fee waivers. Is there an exact number of apps Common App will waiver?

my first day of school is tomorrow guys :’( RIP

@shadyconcepts I hope you have a better time than I’m having

@shadyconcepts @LordBendtner Ditto. :-<

School starts on the 8th and I haven’t started summer assignments yet

@ngzk07 I know you receive four with the SAT. I’m not sure if they’ll give more.

The college I’m applying to has a free application and then it’s free to apply to the CC. yay for free apps! This stuff costs an arm and a leg.

National Merit Semifinalist Cut-Off Scores? Please help fellow seniors (& parents).

If you’re a HS senior who has recently been notified that you’re a National Merit Semifinalist, would you please post your score, your state, and any other pertinent info you received from your principal or guidance counselor on this thread?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/national-merit-scholarships/1696275-class-of-2016-nmsf-nmf-qualifying-scores.html#latest

Thanks very much for any help you can provide.

Doesn’t NMSF stuff come out mid-September, or does it vary by state?

Was fairly confident that I would get it because my score was higher than all the previous cutoffs for my state, but now starting to doubt myself because of all the posts…another thing to toss around in my mind on top of school/college apps.

@glasshours, NMSC mailed letters to high school principals and home-schoolers on 8/25, according to info provided on the main NMSF thread. So that means many seniors will learn their status between yesterday and the “official” NMSF announcement date, which is upcoming (maybe 9/10, can’t remember). Some schools do not release info to students immediately, and some schools hold info until the official “announcement date.” Parents & students on the main NMSF thread are hoping to discern the state cut-offs asap, so if you learn anything either way, it would be very helpful to others if you could post on the main thread, or here.

Best of luck to you in your senior year! NMS is a fantastic award to have, but any student can also do very well even if they miss that particular award.

@glasshours

NY’s cutoff was 219 this year according to the NMSF cutoff thread (a user said that 218 didn’t make the cut at her school and 219 did).

Anyone on here from Indiana?

Today wasn’t that bad. The only class I don’t like is English IV. I was the only student who knew the “most popular British author”…and we’re seniors!
Luckily, that’s the only class so far where I have some members of a clique that’s rude to EVERYONE.

I’m from New Jersey, by the way.

@newjerseygirl98 same! and i totally feel you about the clique thing lol

today was okay but really tiring… at our school the first day of senior year is like a really big deal so it’s all peppy and spirit-y but i’m relieved that everything’s back to normal tomorrow lmao

glad i got over the hurdle of the first day of school!

@GoAskDad and @cityonanocean - Thanks so much! :slight_smile:

Well, first day of school is over. It was okay, but it hasn’t hit the fan yet.

I find it funny how all my crush’s friends/acquaintances have at least one class with me, but my crush doesn’t. Ugh…
