High school class of 2016

I just got through an MIT info session. I was extremely nervous talking to the admissions officer. I hope he doesn’t remember me once apps are submitted.

Lol we have a police station in my neighborhood and a security guard… too dangerous

Good god… I hate being a first generation American. And being the oldest child. My parents think that applying to college is nothing more than taking a few tests and then writing like 5 essays (I have ~20 to write). If they think it’s so easy, then they’re free to sit down at my computer and apply for me.

@djyoungqueef Same! My school has tons of security guards. My town isn’t THAT dangerous, but then again most students in my school are there illegally from the terrible neighboring city…

Half day today because of the heat. Sitting in hundred degree classrooms with long uniforms and no AC’s is never fun!

My school has a whole security team. Maybe around 10 security guards.

My school has 10 security guards for the freshman side alone. There are 2 police stations in our school.

So for the 4 years of foreign language does it have to be consecutive?

@LordBendtner - At a Princeton info session, the rep emphasized the importance of 4 consecutive years of foreign language, but also said that level was more important.

@glasshours
So taking Spanish 4 2nd semester senior year is better than not taking it at all?

Meanwhile, California is going to be experiencing 100+ degree weather all week… and my school won’t be let out early… I mean I come home at lunch everyday (but then go back for XC practice) so I guess it doesn’t matter?

On the other hand, it was so dry this morning, my throat closed up after a short run :frowning:

We’re experiencing the first bouts of rain since May in my city. This cool-down is very much needed. 80 degrees feels much better than 104.

God I’m hating the weather here in NJ, it’s literally 90+ degrees everyday and humid af
We had to walk outside for gym today and everyone was sweating buckets after like five minutes it’s literally september 9 now this isn’t allowed!!

also @glasshours and other people – I got the Rice waiver too! Wasn’t planning to apply, but if it’s waived I guess I’ll give it a shot. And to the guy who got waivers to JHU and UChicago, nice!!!

@LordBendtner - Why are you only taking it the later semester? If it’s because you’re taking another class that’s more rigorous and related to something you’re potentially majoring in, I’d just drop Spanish. Obviously not an admissions counselor, though.

@glasshours
I haven’t had Spanish since Sophomore year. I’ve been browsing CC a lot recently and realized a 4th year of language is really important. It’s too late to sign up for CC classes right now so the earliest I could take it would be next year 2nd semester.

Forget it. I’m not even going to finish my homework because I have a horrid ear infection and a cold and will not be going to school tomorrow.

I just can never make it through September without getting sick.

@shadyconcepts I’m in NJ too, so we had the temps haha. Today it’s raining, though, woohoo!

So today was fun - my teachers decided to drop a bomb on us by printing a sheet with all the major school deadlines for the year. I have 18 of them. EIGHTEEN that comprise a major portion of all my grades, not including any college-related deadlines.

Sometimes I feel like my teachers take joy in our pain -.-

AP Bio killing me with every day classes and presentations on our first full week of school OTL.
