High school class of 2016

@Dilan412 For the SAT’s you can only trust them. Most colleges will tell you if they received your recommendation letters on their websites.

Sorry, guys, but someone here is not being the most honest person.

I am talking about @XoXdreamerXoX.

A few postings ago she was talking about her parents wanting her to go to medical school ( “Change of choice of major–ECs?” Thread). Now, it turns out that her parents “couldn’t care less” if she went to college.

A couple of postings ago, she mentioned that her parents wanted her to apply to 4 ivies “really badly” ( Comment #13218 in this same thread) now she claims her parents “couldn’t care less” if she went to college.

Something here doesn’t add up here. Parents who “couldn’t care less” if a child goes to college don’t have dreams of medical school for that child. Parents who “couldn’t care less” if a child goes to college don’t have Ivy dreams for that child, let alone “badly.”

It is a shame that some children don’t honor their parents. I am a daughter and a mother. Let me tell you, honoring my mother and my father has served me very, very well in life.

I have being extremely blessed and I know that my mother’s prayers have been the driving force behind those blessings.

I feel sorry for parents with ungrateful children …

@kittymom1102 Yes, because they said that if I was trying so hard in school I should be applying to ivies and going to the medical field since it takes away from my home duties. They believe the only reason to try in school is to go to the best schools in the planet and do what they believe is the highest paying job.

It was a while of them telling me that. When I told them it wasn’t what I was going to do, they went back to not caring. Basically they were upset my studies took me away from taking on more chores. I just now decided to take on all of the chores they kept adding on and keep up my studies so that it really doesn’t affect them. I just have to stay up a lot later for it.

It wasn’t their “dream” for me to go to an Ivy or pursue the medical field (when I clearly stated I would not do so because that just wasn’t me)…it was them upset that I wasn’t cleaning the entire house every day and mowing the lawn on the weekends.

Trust me, I’m not being ungrateful, but they’re constantly telling me I need to get out of all of my extra-curricular activities (I’m only in 3 clubs now), that my grades don’t matter because it doesn’t affect them, and they don’t care if I go to college, again, it doesn’t affect them.

But, if you’d like to discuss this further, I’d be more than glad to do so. I don’t want everyone thinking that because of the “in-between” of my life is not being revealed constantly that I’m blatantly lying. I’m happy this is an anonymous site because I can be honest and am honest on here; I share more on here than I would at school (risk of people hearing my scores, etc becomes problematic when there’s a person fighting to bring me down for some reason or another).

OK guys, let’s not argue…
We are all stressed out with applications as it is.
We should be encouraging and supporting each other instead of calling each other out.

@UnicornDuchess It seems a lot of members have been arguing a lot more often lately. Don’t know why.

But, it’s whatever. A lot of it is a case of misunderstandings.

it’s probably just college apps anxiety. When stressed, people get more cranky.

So I just realized I sent my personal email address to GA Tech… and they’re probably confused as to what my real name is or just think I’m plain weird. (Admission officer email addressed me as ‘John’ and my name isn’t ‘John’)

Honestly I feel like GPA measures organization and time management more than smarts, not that it doesn’t measure smarts.

Little late to the party, but here I am!

@SoCcErTrAcK2016 Hiya!

So last Wednesday I applied to all my schools on the common app. All of my schools are saying they haven’t received my transcript and rec letter even though I know they’re uploaded on my common app. Has anyone else had this problem?

Freaking out a little bit…apparently my counselor is notorious for turning in recommendations/transcripts/whatnot late. Very nervous as he hasn’t uploaded anything and my first deadline is under 2 weeks away! :((

I think most colleges dont really start looking at apps until the 2nd week of November (for ED and EA) Someone correct me if Im wrong though. I don’t want to be giving wrong information.

@QueenN22 Yes, that is correct. It doesn’t matter how early you submit your application. Admissions officers are visiting schools around the country/world at the moment, so they won’t be looking at your applications until after the November deadline.

We use the british spelling in my country. I personally think it looks better :wink:

@gonewiththeair Don’t worry. I heard from my guidance counsellor that the main things colleges want are your common app materials, supplements, and school transcripts. They don’t mind so much if the recs and test scores are a few days late. My counsellor is also like this, but I go to an international private that sends 2-3 students to HYPSM each year and 10+ to ivies out of around 50 students, so I trust she knows what she’s doing.

@kuriosmind what country would that be? (If you don’t mind me asking)

Does anyone watch Scream Queens here?

@QueenN22 CANADA! :smiley:

The Federal election is currently underway! We will most likely have a new Prime Minister tomorrow!

And yes, I do! “Chantel! Why you got a knife in your throat?”

AHHHH!!!
