Does anyone know if you have to submit your test scores to schools by the EA deadline? I’m just getting a subject test score back tomorrow and have an app due November 1st. If you request test scores but they are not send by November 1st, does it matter? Thanks!
How do most schools inform you about your admissions decision? Email, check your account, or mail?
@emtfxc It really varies by school. I know MIT will take the November sitting and October scores after their application deadline.
@jdschooled5 I’ve seen a lot of physical mail for college acceptance letters for people at my school. That’s gotta be the most common method. Then email, then checking an online account (that’s rare)
I’ve had most of the colleges I’m applying to be by checking an online account. But maybe that’s just my situation.
@jdschooled5 A lot of schools have their decision available online, but they mail the acceptance letter to you also.
Senior + Sophomore is fine.
I know some Sophomore much more mature than Seniors I know.
@jdschooled5 I recently read 50% of colleges announce it online, while 99% send letters.
This “Why Brown” essay has got me questioning life…
YAAAAAAY.
MY SAT SCORE IS ABOVE THE 2000 MARK
Good job! I only took the SAT once and scored a 1610 (lol).
I found myself to be more inclined to the ACT. I hate the SAT’s penalty rule.
Wait, I am so confused by my school, that it’s not even funny anymore. So I received my 6 weeks report a while ago and it reported both my real score and the extra 10 points in my class (AP) and so I got interested as to what my GPA would look like, so I emailed my counselor about weighted vs unweighted and she said this:
" We do not have a weighted GPA. We will report the GPA on the transcript
which is not weighted."
So on my portal, will it say I made a 90 or an 80? Because I don’t see why they would add the extra 10 points on the 6 weeks report if it is unweighted. Also, I should note that my counselor is really misleading to me. She made me think that I’d have to take an AP test if I took the class (I only disproved this by emailing her later and she cleared it up) and said I couldn’t take an AP exam if I didn’t take the class.
Ugh, my brain is melting.
There should be both a weighted and unweighted GPA on your transcript (with unweighted class grades). At least that’s how my school does it. Schools vary in policy on that, though.
is anyone else seeing “Sorry, we are experiencing some delays due to high volume” on the SAT scores link??!?1
@asappebble Yeah and it’s driving me crazy. I want to see my scores.
The butthurtedness on this site about SATs is ridiculous
For those who are so stressed out, just know that there’s only 39 more school days until December 18th (when we get out of school). For those that get out on Christmas Eve, I feel sorry for you.
790 on Math 2
Idk how I should feel about this
Yeah, but it’s a little more complicated than that. (generally) With wealthier families, the familial culture emphasizes academic success more. Helicopter parenting is not the norm in the vast majority of working class households; trust me.
What @lostaccount and @XoxdreamerXox said was very good. It’s not such a simple issue.
@ThatOneWeirdGuy Yes, definitely a combo of wealth + style of parenting. I feel like if my parents had helicopter-ed me, I would be receiving better grades and doing academically better (but emotionally I would die lmao)
