High school class of 2016

I don’t like the ACT.

^ same, but my ACT was marginally higher so o guess I do like it???

Just applied to 4/7 schools.

I don’t think I scored a 32+, haha.

Woah it took like 2 days for College Board to send my scores & for my 2 EA colleges to receive them. I guess I’m lucky.

@QuirkyClarkie How do you know they received them?

@QuirkyClarkie I have the same question! And why does it take days/weeks if the colleges receive the scores electronically?

My college received my transcript and my GC’s recommendation. All the pieces are in. Now I just have to be patient until December 15th. I was at an NHS service event today and the people who were running it(MS social workers) were asking us seniors about where we are applying and everyone else ran off a list of 5-6 schools and I just had 1.( a CC is my back up) It got awkward when people realized how close to home I was staying and how far most of them were going. My top choice is 45 minutes away and everyone else’s choices were all 2 hours plus.

@kuriosmind

You have to remember that kids all across your state and out of state are applying to that college. I know somewhere like Georgia Tech gets thousands of transcripts, standardized test scores, ect. And there are so few employees there compared to college applicants. They’re being overworked. Give them time. Same goes for the people delivering the scores, ect.

@CluelessCathy @kuriosmind The College Board sends you a receipt once they’ve processed your order/sent your scores. As for the colleges, both of the ones I’m applying to have an applicant portal with a checklist, and once the college gets your scores, they put a check mark/date received next to “Test Scores”.

Also I believe I read somewhere that colleges actually elect to receive batches of scores every so often (so, say twice a month). What I’m thinking is that maybe you requested your scores the day after College Board sent out a batch to your college, so they have to wait until the next delivery to send yours.

Wow this thread is huge. Does it make a difference in Admissions if you submit your application right before the deadline? I’m doing ED.

@mangosmoothie123 Nope, unless the school is rolling (like Wake Forest). An admissions officer once told me that they get the majority of their applications in the last 2 days leading up to the deadline. It’s a good idea to submit a day or so in advance though, just in case the Common App crashes or something due to server overload.

And yum, I love mango smoothies!

Ok great thanks! I’m probably going to recheck my essay like 20 times that’s why I asked :smiley:
I love mango smoothies too, as you could probably tell lol.

Guys yesterday I received a $20 tip and I’m still having trouble believing it’s real.

One time I found a $20 bill on the sidewalk. I was hesitant to take it at first because I thought about those hidden camera things where people test others to see if they are selfish vs. honest by placing money/objects in some public place and seeing if someone takes it.

Then I realized I was being paranoid and just took the bill lol.

Stressed out because my emotions aren’t in control long enough for me to write my essays.

I don’t think I know how to grieve properly.

I’m not supposed to be accepting tips. That’s another reason for my paranoia.

Ok I have hit a roadblock on the CommonApp essays. I want to write about an experience that is important to me and helped me become the person I am today. Would that be the 1st prompt? (Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.)

@IBGuy101 - That sounds like it’d fit! The Common App prompts aren’t supposed to be limiting, they’re supposed to guide you.

Submitting 3 more apps tonight whooo

Hellllp

On the common app section where we fill out the info for our parents, can i just put the name of the PLACE my parents work at for “Employer name” instead of the actual boss’s name? Or maybe that’s what we’re supposed to do anyway, idk

@cityonanocean I believe it’s the company name.
