@glasshours Lol, my MIT interviewer just complained about the weather a lot (he’s from Austin…he also complained about the weather in our area a lot (don’t know why he moved to North Texas if he didn’t like the cold, lol)). Otherwise he said he wouldn’t have traded his MIT experience for anything. I don’t know. My MIT interview experience just made me love MIT more. Not good considering there’s a large possibility I’ll get rejected. Was yours just a casual conversation? Or was it like a Q+A session?
…it’s the same temperature here as it is in Boston right now but in Boston it’s snowing. It was just raining two hours ago. This isn’t fair. I only see snow once a year and the rest of the time it’s ice, lol.
@XoXdreamerXoX - It was a pretty casual conversation! He asked questions, but only to guide the convo. Best of luck to you for RD, there’s still hope <3
@Optimyst - You’re exactly right; he hated it because of the workload, haha. Actually, he told me that he tried calling his friends to help him interview kids because he got a surprisingly high number this year, but none of them were willing to because of how rough their experiences were. When I told him about the admissions blog, he was surprised and told me not to buy into the propaganda. Mine was an hour and twenty minutes!
Honestly, I was really surprised that my interviewer didn’t enjoy his time at MIT. Everyone else I’ve ever talked to from or at MIT was super enthusiastic and seemed to be head-over-heels in love with the school, despite the workload.
@glasshours Why did he volunteer to interview for MIT if he didn’t like it that much? That’s weird.
Maybe they get paid. Idk. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Oh man I’m having serious regrets about my CommonApp essay right now but it’s WAY TOO LATE !! Got a million supps due
To think that an essay stopped me from admission is so stressful
@SippinCoffee Couldn’t have been that bad…
Was it clam farts?
Basically done my supplements! I’m really up for peer-editing if anyone still needs help. I hope all of you guys enjoying this break and not stressing too much. We’re worked so hard for the past four years, this is the last stretch
@SippinCoffee Aww what was it about? Maybe we can help you tweak it?
@XoXdreamerXoX sadly no it wasn’t the clam farts :))
@kuriosmind Congrats on finishing! Must feel really good hahaha
I wrote about how I switched traditional roles with my mom and taught her how to ride a bike. At first I thought it was an interesting story but after reading it later, it’s not as bold or introspective as I wanted it to be. Just typical “break the status quo” sort of thing Not sure how to improve it
I too am open for essay editing. I’ve already gotten into my school ED so you don’t have to worry about anything shady happening haha.
TFW you thought the Northwestern supplement was a 600 word limit but it’s only 300 words
@SippingCoffee The thing with college essays is that if it was something significant to you, the reader will be able to tell and will be able to tell more about you as a person.
Edit: fudgecrackers. I need sleep. Now. Lol.
@SippinCoffee That sounds super interesting! Let me know if you would like me to edit it. Just like @XoXdreamerXoX said, as long as you convey your personality it’ll be a good essay
Just submitted a super bs-ed supplement to Harvard. I’m not getting in, but better to stand out with a strange essay than blend in, right?
Now only have 2 more supplements left!
would anyone like to read one my supplements? I feel like it’s not answering the prompt well enough but aosijgadlsfj;asfo I don’t want to rewrite it lol. Also need help with some reorganizing maybe and rewording of this one phrase
It’s terrible that I’m honestly not thinking of applying to Cornell just because of the 650 word essay. -_-
I’m so pissed at CollegeBoard right now. I ordered score reports on the 16th, and they still haven’t been sent. The main issue was that this morning, they were showing that they were sent today (29th), but I just checked a few minutes ago, and they’re pending again…
@allista CollegeBoard is literally the most incompetent piece of crap I swear
Just gotta finish the Columbia supplement… and then JHU… and then Cornell… then I can kiss CommonApp goodbye :-*
