@infiniteCircle man, same, except Spanish is the class I want to take I had to choose math over it this year and I can’t wait to jump back in in college
I know someone was recently talking about U of Michigan costing $60,000 OOS, but I forgot who. I just read U of Michigan “tries” to meet full need for out-of-state students. Is that not true?
Sorry I’m posting so much!!!
@newjerseygirl98 that was me. And yes Mich does say that but as a middle class OOS student I expect to receive very little if not nothing. The net price calculator said I would receive nothing. I really hope it’s wrong and I’ve been waiting for months to know what the real cost is. I guess I just have to wait and see. Historically, Mich doesn’t give the best aid to middle class OOS students (as far as I know) but for those who are more needy, Mich will definitely give them some good, if not very good aid. If I don’t get much aid I’m afraid I’ll have to forgo the school I’ve grown to really like.
Are you considering Mich?
@wonderlanddd Good point, if not now then they’ll be done in the next week or so. I guess I’m just worried since (take the ivies for example) in the EA round, they have a month and a half for 6,000 applications, and in RD, they essentially have a bit over two months for 36,000 applications. Not sure how they can evaluate everyone the same with with such limited time.
Oh, I’m sorry! I know it’s hard to get financial aid as a middle-class student. I’m low-income, but I have average stats, so I’m also not receiving enough aid.
I’m in a similar situation! I’m in love with Temple, but it’s out-of-state public. It’s actually not that expensive compared to other OOS schools, but I would still need tons of loans!
@infiniteCircle
@kuriosmind yeah, that is concerning I think they read really quickly at the beginning, just a fast overview to make the first cut of a lot of people and then maybe consider more closely as the deadlines get closer?
@wonderlanddd That’s what they do for EA too. Is it possible to conclude that it’s much harder to make the first cut in RD, since the admissions officers are rushing to cut down applicants and might miss students who don’t have strong stats but other attributes?
I just want March 31st to be here already :((
@kuriosmind Maybe? I think the thing about ED/A vs RD is that it’s harder to stand out in the early round, because it’s typically the most serious students. Also, it’s the recruited athletes who they pretty much already know they’re going to admit.
And me too, omg. I’m dying of stress while waiting.
@wonderlanddd True. EA applicants are probably scrutinized more in committee. Where are you applying? Did you apply anywhere early?
[-( This girl continuously cheats on everything and is #3 in our class. Today she cheated on an assignment where the first to finish would get extra credit.
Needless to say, she got the extra credit.
@XoXdreamerXoX Rat her out safely.
How does she cheat?
@XoXdreamerXoX How could she cheat on an assignment in class without other people noticing?
We noticed. The teacher didn’t. She just looked it up on her phone.
On AP Gov exams (they’re online) she will just Google the questions (apparently they’re on Quizlet) and ace the tests.
@XoXdreamerXoX tell your teacher the next time she does this so you can prove it!
@kuriosmind I kind of don’t want to because it’ll screw her over with Stanford and Rice (the counselors will send out an email and it will appear on her final transcript). She already got rejected from the engineering school at UT, so her only chances are at Rice and Stanford. It just upsets me because she’s been cheating so often and would cheat off of me all of last year in physics despite my best attempts to cover my paper. It upsets me because there are people who do work hard for their rank in the top 10.
@XoXdreamerXoX I feel the same way. I know this girl that doesn’t even know what vectors are in physics, but still manages to pass all the tests with A’s. Everyone can see her use her phone during the tests, but no tells. The teacher sometimes catches her on her phone, but she quickly makes up an excuse such as, “I’m texting my mom.” He then just nods his head and says “don’t do it again,” but nothing ever happens.
@kuriosmind I didn’t apply anywhere early because I was ridiculously busy as the beginning of this year and decided that if I did apply early, it wouldn’t be my strongest application, so it’d be better to wait and apply RD
And all the schools I applied to except my two safeties have a <50% acceptance rate (and 7 of those are 25% and below, including four Ivies) so I’m definitely feeling that anxiety, ahah
and @XoXdreamerXoX that sucks…everyone I know cheats on online tests because they are all on quizlet, and I knew a girl who would find out the essay prompt early and pre write every essay for AP English last year…just be proud that you at least earned your spot, and cheating won’t help her very much once she’s out of college.
I would imagine that in the RD round there are a lot more students that are just flat out unqualified that schools can quickly reject, as a lot of kids just apply to schools for the Hell of it.
There is a lot of cheating the CP classes at my school and teachers know but don’t really care (ie kids will blatantly be on their phone during a test).
y’all may have goals to get into college but my goal is to get 1000 likes before april 1st. priorities people
