@SallyStephens Currently Self Studying Cancerous diseases and am aiming to do a research internship 2nd semester /during the summer.

@SallyStephens Please refrain from trying to converse with patients when they have 2,000 things in their mouth, and then getting offended when they don’t respond.

Haha… wait what? @ThatOneWeirdGuy

@Teyrkis That is so cool!! I really want to do this summer bioscience program at one of the colleges around here and it seems super cool. They have gel electrophoresis and all the labs I did in AP Bio except with better technologies and equipment. I also am going to start community service at my local hospital.

@ThatOneWeirdGuy Oh my gosh. I just realized what you meant.

Okay yeah I hate that, too. My orthodontist does it all the time. my dad’s a dentist so i’m always telling him not to do that with his patients, so oh my yes I will definitely not do that because it bothers me when it’s done to me. My dad doesn’t get it, though; he’s like, it’s a part of the job to be social. Well not when they have things in their mouth???

puts metal appliance in my mouth “So how are your classes?”

UMMMMMM.

@SallyStephens I don’t see the appeal of being an orthodontist.

@SallyStephens Orthodontists

Then they make fun of you for trying to say something, but sounding like a infant. XD

And why do you want to be an orthodontist if you don’t mind me asking?

I woke up and had 113 notifications.

@SallyStephens I took a CC class last summer (Psychology), and this summer I want to either do COSMOS or the Stanford Earth Sciences Internship (of course, both are very hard to get into–especially the latter). CC’ll be my backup this time; I’ll probably end up taking Stats since I don’t have time for it in my school schedule. And maybe Physics for fun, since CC classes are really easy and most of the other students aren’t exactly the sharpest knives in the bin.

If I do Stanford Earth Sciences, I might volunteer at the homeless shelter, since it’s a commuter program.

On another note, I went to an MUN workshop at UC Berkeley yesterday; I was part of Security Council (advanced delegates still had to go to the workshop). Our topic was Kashmir, and the girl who was Pakistan knew nothing about her country’s policy (she wanted Kashmir to gain autonomy; um, number 1: Kashmir is too small and unstable for that to work, especially with two conflicting religions; and number 2: you’re Pakistan. you’ve been fighting with India for this territory for ages. and she was in advanced). And she was a Pakistani Christian with an Hindu name.

I couldn’t.

But I did figure out why the actual Security Council never gets anything done: one of our resolutions was vetoed twice, and the other was vetoed three times.

Would love to do a Stanford camp @topaz1116 but…
I live across the nation
and i’m poor

@Teyrkis It’s a passion I have, just like other people having their own passions. Since a very young age, I’ve been extremely fascinated by braces and how they work, so that’s why I want to be an orthodontist, and not just a dentist.
My aunt is an orthodontist and I would get to go to her work with her and I loved it!!

^^^^ that’s for you, too. @ThatOneWeirdGuy

@Teyrkis Stanford Earth Sciences is free, so that’s a bonus. It’s just a research internship that’s open to anyone in high school.

@topaz1116 You’re such a smart and motivated guy, wow! All these fancy and educated camps
Stanford sounds soo cool. That’s so far away though. My best friend wants to go to stanford university and we live in eastern.

What does CC mean?

For this summer, I most definitely am going to volunteer at the hospital, I kind of dont have a choice. I’m behind on community service. I did volunteer 15 hours at a nursing home but I’m not even going to bother inputting those hours, so I’m gonna have to forget about that. I volunteered 50 hours at my local library. But that’s all I have!!

Hopefully I can get about 50 hours this summer, probably.

Does anyone have experience working in a hospital for community service that may be useful or interesting for me to know? I know the summer is a long while away but I have to start my reregistration second semester which is two months away soo… xD

@Topaz1116 The costly part is housing/flight.

@SallyStephens

CC = Community College
CC = Cross Country

@Teyrkis Okay thanks, I’m pretty sure @topaz1116 meant community college.

@topaz1116 Summer is June. When should one begin looking for summer camps/programs?

Do you guys have to have a certain amount of community service hours to graduate?

@ThatOneWeirdGuy Yes. For a certain scholarship everyone in our school has to participate in, we need 100 hours.
