High School Class of 2017

lol @collegenow111 I wouldn’t be able to score that high even if I took it a billion times xD… sadly, life is tough.

@YoohooAddict haha but still, tests scores aren’t everything. and part of it is just luck - i could easily have gotten a score 150 or so points lower just by fluke

A guy in my class got a 2400. The news has been spreading like wildfire.

  1. A friend of mine got a 2400 on the Jan test. Where I go, getting 2200+ is very common.

Lol @Cornbread1999 Where do you live? or rather what school do you go to?

Public school that’s in the top 200 best high schools in the nation by US News. One of the top 30 in California and one of the top 15 STEM schools.

To reiterate, I go to a PUBLIC school (open enrollment/zone/where you live). Blech, the competition is real.

Does anyone on here have any tips for studying for the NEW SAT math section? Feels 1000x harder than the old SAT math, and it’s been my weakest by like >100 points.

Good thing I don’t go to one of those types of schools.

How many times are you guys planning to take the SAT? I’m thinking of taking the old once twice, but I’m not sure how many times to take the new one.

I want to take it once (November), but if that doesn’t go well I’ll take it again in January. If that doesn’t go well again then I guess I’ll take the new SAT.

@dsi411 Yeah, that’s similar to what I’m planning at the moment. I want to take the SAT in December and possibly January, but I’m unsure how many times I should take the new SAT if I choose to take it again after January.

I have to take the PSAT on Wednesday! Help, I am struggling so much on the reading section!!!. I’m getting every question right except the “which sentence provides the best evidence to the previous question.” Why am I getting them wrong? shouldn’t they be the easiest since they tell you exactly what to look for? I’m getting the previous question right but ironically am not getting the evidence questions right. Any tips would be much appreciated.

@athenanv13 Those ones should be the most straightforward. What helped me, was trying to prove the others ones wrong, instead of proving the one answer right.

@Greninja I am probably going to take the new SAT at least twice. I’ll be taking the ACT in April, and the new SAT in May. If It turns out that I am much stronger in the ACT than in the new SAT (which I think will be the case) then I’ll just end up taking the ACT again instead of the SAT.

I will be taking the SAT this November!

Hey, so I’m the webmaster for my school (I entirely control the school’s website). How strong is this EC? I’m thinking it’s pretty unique, and I’m hoping it’ll be a huge boost to my resume lol

I’m debating whether to study circle theorems for the PSAT…

@deeeznuts At least a fourth of the clubs at my school have a webmaster, so I wouldn’t say unique. It does, however, show leadership, as does any other officer position, and if you do extensive coding, then that is a big plus as well.

@photogeek8 Thanks, yea i was thinking that since I controlled the entire school website (not just a club/organization), it would make it more impressive, but maybe not. I’m struggling finding more ECs I’m interested in (not just for college but actual enjoyment ahaha). My school has 5 clubs in total lololol

I really want an internship, but it’s been tough to find. Has anyone looked into summer programs?
