My calc final is coming up (this Friday) and I’m freaking out. I need a 95 to get an A (I have an 88 right now). I can’t afford another B, especially one junior year. Last years class said it was super hard and there was no curve. Any tips from anyone else on how to study and perform well?
Who’s taking the ACT on Saturday? Super stressed.
Edit: More so because it’s the Saturday before finals and I need to write my essay for GHP.
@QueenOfBohemia the SAT was pretty cool. The math section was medium difficulty… same for the CR section–the experimental section was amazing bc it was the new SAT format lol…but I really messed up on math bc I omitted so many questions Hopefully writing is goes well–I felt pretty confident in it haha. You?
@jjlundy Good luck to the both of us!
What are you guys goals for the ACT this weekend? (:
I’m hoping 33+ but it’s my first try so I’m not sure how it will turn out.
What about you?
@Cece0499 34+, but i don’t think that is going to happen with the science scores I consistently get
Curious, where do you guys want to go to school?
@jjlundy Hogwarts. I tried to apply, but I didn’t get in
Yeah @loquatical , rough odds for OOS applicants.
I’m taking mine in April (: So there’s no excuse for me not to reach my goal (34) or atleast be close to it
I’m hoping to take the ACT in Feb. and get a good enough score that I only take it once. I’m shooting for 34/35-ish.
@Cece0499 I liked it! I didn’t find the essay so bad. I had gotten some advice about to skip the fluff/blurb above the actual prompt and thought, “Okay!” xD If I did worse than I thought, oh well. Math was okay, but I still feel bad for omitting a few questions (3-4). 10/10 will never take (the old version) again (because they’re changing the format!)
@glassflowers I didn’t mind the writing section. I actually liked it. What is this “experimental section” you speak of? The prompt itself or something else?
@athenanv13 Make it 3! Idc what I get. I want to see where I’m at first with this one. I’m hoping for something higher than a 20, though, because I always get that on those practice ACTs I’ve taken at school.
@QueenOfBohemia One of the 9 MC sections is experimental. Only 3 CR, 3M, and 2W sections are used to calculate your score. You can usually tell the experimental one apart if it’s harder or asks weird questions.
The only differences in the test are due to the substitution of experimental sections (one person has experimental writing, another has experimental CR, etc).
@loquatical Ah, I see. I completely missed which section was the “experimental” one. My English teacher’s voice was in my head the whole time telling me not to do certain things when taking the SAT. xD (I didn’t fully read any of the passages and jumped around a few times.)
@jjlundy Northeastern!
Taking it in February aiming for a 36 (:
Same and luckily colleges are looking less into the new act writing section @Faultystart
