High School Class of 2017

LOL guys so i use quizlet for everything and lololololol when quizlet makes one of my sets private bc “copyright issues”

I honestly don’t know where to go with standardized testing. I tried the SAT, didn’t work out, and now the ACT doesn’t seem to be working out either. I’m taking it this Saturday, and my scores aren’t where I want. I really don’t want to have to rely on the new SAT to be my bailout.

ouch. that sucks @photogeek8 assuming you’re a junior, can i ask you this…what are the pros of each side for you (sat v. act). Think about what you like and what you don’t like. also, are you more a math/science person or english/reading/history type of person?

@QueenOfBohemia argghh, same. I ommitted so many questions…atleast 4, so I don’t think I’l be hitting my 700 in math :/. Writing was amazing, I was very happy with the prompt haha–easy 10+ there (:

Hopefully, my scores are above a 2000 :/…but if not, then even more reason for me to study harder to get my target score.

The math I thought was medium difficulty, but everyone says it was really easy, so no curve :(. But I was only studying for CR and W because I had 620 and 660 (respectively) in those sections and I wanted to get into range for Duke/UVA/UNC-CH/Vandy.

I’m really anxious for our program of studies to come out. Need to know whether APUSH is still going to be a class. We plan in January.

I’m debating whether to take AP Chem or AP Physics C next year. I’m taking a full load of IB classes so it’s a hard choice

I’m in AP Chem right now and I love it … tough work load but offers great insight into the how the world works. I’m sure Physics does the same but I haven’t taken a physics class yet.

*Actually finishing a chem lab right now.

Ah I love AP chem- it’s easily my favorite class! I love the topic and my teacher so it’s just the best!

@jjlundy @athenanv13 physics is pretty cool especially if you take it alongside calc and everything ties in together lol it’s awesome

This is sorta irrelevant but can someone predict my PSAT score for me?
-8-10 Math and -19 - 15 Verbal

I’m sure you could use the scoring table given in the new PSAT packet that your school gave out. Just curious, how did you come up with those numbers?

Well for Math, I’m 100% sure I got 8 wrong, but assuming that i made 2 more careless errors, tht would result in 10. For verbal, on the practice test I got I believe 17 wrong, and I thought the english was harder for the actual test, and since I didn’t get time to finish, I guessed a couple, so yea…

I’m anxious to see my score as well @YoohooAddict . I might ask my gc tomorrow if they have our scores.

I was going to ask today but we didn’t even have school and I keep forgetting to ask because of the huge load of homework that we get :frowning:

The scores will be emailed to us on 12/14.

@dsi411 The 14th? My counselor told
me that our scores won’t come out until next month because of the PSAT being new this year and whatnot. Ugh, I can’t take this! Dx

@Cece0499 Ah, your score will be great either way. ^^ My math skills are mediocre at best, especially when on a time crunch. I have accepted my fate. But it would be cool if both of us got 2000+ on the SAT.

Is it weird to get excited seeing seniors talking about their soon-to-be-released EA decisions? We will be in their place next year around this time…

@RippleIllusion No. I bookmarked UPenn, Dartmouth, UChicago, and UMich’s EA/ED threads. UPenn has quite the chatterboxes, but it’s really exciting to see them excited.

@QueenOfBohemia
This was in an email sent to my mother by a test prep company:

So unless they are lying, the scores will come out this month. However, I did read that the paper score reports won’t be sent to the schools until January, so that might have been what the counselor was talking about.
