High School Class of 2017

Has anyone else started scheduling for senior year yet? It’s not helping that my school there’s this in right before PSAT scores

@bomber1 I’ve been thinking about a tentative senior schedule, but I can’t have anything put down for sure until I get course recommendations (like if I can take AP Physics or not)

We haven’t started choosing classes for next year but I already know what classes I’m going to take.

@foliontai Thanks for the welcome! You’re so lucky, I can’t wait for it to be over! It doesn’t help that I have midterms starting next Tuesday and two finals for my CC classes. I’m a nervous wreck!

Yeah, my school has started course scheduling and I already have my senior schedule set, I wish I had more space to take AP Psychology though :frowning:

I was planning on taking just the ACT but do you guys think that colleges prefer that an applicant send both ACT and SAT scores?

I hope not because I plan to just take the ACT with writing and the SAT subject tests

@popper345 yeah I was planning to do the same thing but when looking through some college admission threads for the class of 2020 (this years seniors) I saw a lot of them submitted both…

@neoking she doesnt even suggests anything! shes always telling me “do whatever works best…whatever you do wont affect you” blah blah blah :-w

From reading the MIT admissions blogs, they (and presumably a lot of selective colleges) really don’t care about your scores on standardized tests past a certain threshold – SAT vs ACT doesn’t matter and don’t take both just to take both, and anything past a 2250 (not too extremely distributed) won’t keep you out anywhere. Too much concern past that verges on absurd, I think, except for the particularly numbers-driven schools and select cases (e.g. 800 on Math II is pretty much necessary at some point lol if you’re shooting for selective tech schools).

My college counselor told me that before an application even reaches the admissions committee your highest scores (no matter whether they’re SAT or ACT) are put into a computer, and that’s all the reps see. So I think they only see one score, no matter what you send them.

@loquatical Yup, however I have calmed myself by knowing that what I have done is over and there is nothing I can do about it now.

Did anyone get an Explo thing from Yale? I got the Duke TIP and the Explo thing in the mail today. Hopefully a good sign.

Anyone else waiting on their PSAT scores?

yes @swimmergal I’m going to check in 2 hours just in case they release it at 12 EST then check again tomorrow morning (9 AM EST because I live on the west coast)

Yeah, though I don’t care that much about them since I got a good SAT score. It’d be nice if I got NMSF.

Anyone else feel like it was kind of an easy test?

@bfc2017 Make sure not to mark the “send my results” box on the test and send the results manually. Then the admissions folks see the scores you send to them… if you send only your best- that is all they see. Some schools request all scores to be sent.

is it just me or is Collegeboard’s PSAT page really confusing…I have no idea where to see my scores

Literally ran downstairs (and woke everyone up) to my printer to scan an assignment that was due at midnight. Got it in 11:59 lol I feel so achieved right now

@Cornbread1999 When they are posted tomorrow, you will be able to see them at https://studentscores.collegeboard.org/viewscore. If you took the test before, you should see your old scores when you go to that.
