High School Class of 2017

HOSA testing is next week for anyone who’s in the club…Still gotta cram some more pharma haha :(( Semester 2 of junior year has already started off pretty rough T.T

@dsi411 That’s funny. My TOK classes started since the first Wednesday when we got back. We have it every Wednesday. We are about to give our TOK Presentation-- we are making a knowledge question right now, actually.

Everyone of Class 2017’s IB students attend the same TOK class. We don’t get graded on our participation, but on our worksheet. In our school, they make it easy to get A’s in Theory of Knowledge. I

Also, if anyone can help me improve my English/writing skills. I honestly suck at the PSAT because of that. I’m horrible with grammar. D:

When your gpa goes up but your rank goes down…literal wtf…I wonder what the people at my school are on…

When everyone vents so you have to throw in your two cents…

I’ve been a horrible procrastinator and have to finish all my summer program apps, write a research report/paper/presentation for a regional fair, do months worth of cramming in 1 week for Science Olympiad, study for the ACT/AMC 12/USAAAO/AP tests, take care of a million job responsibilities, finish a conference paper and presentation, practice violin, practice piano, finish an online course, and do so so much school work–and all I want to do is sleep for 20 hours. I swear I’m the worst procrastinator I know, and I keep adding things and complicating my life. I’m sure some of you can relate

@coffeeaddicted Same with the summer apps, USAAAO, online course, and SAT subject tests. Thank God I’m not writing a research paper haha.

There’s a lot of cramming I’m doing for USAAAO, but at least it’s interesting.

@neoking I feel so behind with that! I’ve hardly studied at all, because of all the paper writing (it’s on planet formation, not helping me with the observation-heavy usaaao :confused: ). I just need to do like I did with AP chem last year and use all the resources I have and at study enough to make that top 50%

@coffeeaddicted I’m glad I’m not the only one :^)

@ambitiousgeek writing research papers?

Wait or procrastinating for usaaao

@ambitiousgeek I wish my school offered HOSA. :-< My school barely offers anything. No APs or research opportunities.

@cook10 Talk to a administrator about starting a HOSA chapter next year. That’s what I did this year and now I love it!

I’m pretty angry with HOSA. I studied pretty hard for my Area Medical Math competition, and I got 4th place out of 108 people. I needed to place 3rd to go to state.

I am so scared to check my class rank…I think I’ll go to my GC on Monday but I’m so scared so so so scared. If I’m not in the top 10% I’m going to be so upset because I won’t be eligible for a bunch of scholarships and stuff :-S I hate going to a competitive school

@athenanv13 Is that a difficult thing to do? I’ve thought about it, but I’m not sure I could find a teacher at my school who would be willing to sponsor it.

I hope teachers recommend me for the classes I want to take next year. I don’t know if I’ll have much time to fill out petition forms, although I may need to fill one out to take double languages.

@sprights same…my rank dropped out of nowhere ughh

@cook10 It’s not difficult. The hardest part was finding a sponsor because a lot of teachers don’t have time. At least at my school, the teacher gets a very small stipend for being a club advisor that is a lot of work. But if you have a good relation with a science teacher, then you will easily get a sponsor because they will be happy to be your sponsor or if the teacher can’t do it, they will happily recommend you to another teacher .

And I still didn’t get my freakin PSAT score… CB is freakin dumb

@coffeeaddicted Noooo, I meant me neglecting my workload: science olympiad research (invasive species is a LOT of work), summer program apps, playing flute/doing church activities, and SAT studying. I just implied you’re not alone with the stress :)>-

@cook10 Definitely try to start HOSA if you are interested because not only will it show initiative, but also it will help you discover different medical paths (if that is your interest)! Also, finding a sponsor, like what athena said, can be very hard, but most teachers who aren’t super busy will help you out :slight_smile: Good luck! It’s a really great club and state is uber fun :smiley:
