High School Class of 2017

@tigerman333 hey that’s a score some of my peers have dreamed of lol…we can still improve our scores by the time the new SAT rolls around (:

@tigerman333 you still might get Commended, which is still a notable achievement.

I will probably miss Maryland by 2 or 3 points unless all the Western shore kids did really bad :frowning:

Reading this thread makes me wish I’d taken the PSAT…

@Cece0499 I’m most likely not going to take it. I’ve been doing ACT prep and signed up for the February exam

@Balletfreak1999 eh, the PSAT is a lot of stress for a comparatively small reward. You might as well apply for outside scholarships.

@elisewhitney – You asked where the “predicted” NM semi-finalist cut -off scores are listed There actually is only guessing and some speculation. there is at least 1 outside test prep company revising an earlier prediction:

Found out today my college counselor is moving abroad :((

Mine’s pregnant. And she’s also my advisor…

I’m struggling to go back into a routine after break. I’m getting distracted so easily right now.

@athenanv13 Me, too. Just going to school is exhausting enough now; I can’t focus on anything after school.

I feel ya guys. Baseball starts up in like a week… We’ll see how I handle junior year work load + a sport

Next week we start Theory of Knowledge for IB. My class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school for 90 minutes. I could’ve done the 3 hour evening class once a week but that doesn’t work with my “schedule.”
@athenanv13 Have you started TOK yet?

@jjlundy same dilemna. We already began conditioning.

These past two days have been wild. Last night I had a huge bowling tournament: I stayed after school because I couldn’t get home and back by 4:10 (when we left school, we then went to eat dinner at the bowling alley, then the tournament started at 7 and ended at 11 (!) and I got home at midnight because there was highway construction. The next day (today) I got up at 6:30 so I could be ready at school by 8 to go to an academic team tournament, which I will admit, out team did do very well in. But after the tournament, which ended at 1, my mom made me go shopping (which was the last thing I wanted to do) and we were shopping for 3 hours ;-; I’m exhausted and very tired but I have to do some homework because I can’t do it all tomorrow.

It’s been a while. I go a 200 (1340) on the PSAT. I’m not too disappointed though, I didn’t really study so I wasn’t expecting a really high score.

I’m having trouble adapting to school as well now. I have a lot of work to do, I have to prepare a speech for USAD and study for the SAT but I have eight hours of community service tomorrow…

At least we have a three-day weekend next week.

We have finals right after President’s Day, so all of my teachers are trying to cram in tests right now. I really need to figure out how to do better on Physics multiple choice (Physics is my only B right now and I’m really close to an A), but I can’t find much AP Physics 1 practice online and Physics B practice usually seems much easier than what my teacher gives on his tests…

@dsi411 I have! I just started taking it last Wednesday. It is amazing! I thought I would hate it but it is actually a really interesting class (at least that is the impression I got from my first class so I hope it’s like that for the rest of the semester). I wish I had your TOK schedule! I would prefer having it for 90 minutes Tuesday and Thursday. Instead it is only offered Wednesdays after school for 3 hours at my school.

@dsi411 the only thing I hate about it is that at my school, the teacher prefers a Socratic style and we are graded for participation. I’m so scared to say anything in class and it makes it worse that we have to talk in a Socratic way,

@athenanv13 Yes, it’s the same at my school. The TOK teacher said that participation is 30% of the grade. That’ll be hard for me.

Finals are in a week, and I am really stressed out! I have two B+s that are half a percent away from A-s, so finals are the deciding factor. It sucks that I’m taking the Math L2 the day after finals end and the ACT in a couple of weeks later. I made a promise to myself that once I’m done with all of these, I’m going to treat myself - I just haven’t figured out how yet.
