@tigerman333 did you send a LOR with your IU app? Not sure if I should since it’s not required
@ZBlue17 Yeah, I’m sending 4 actually. My calc, econ, and ap lang teacher as well as my debate coach. Is that too many?
For those of you writing supplements, do you feel that intros and conclusions are needed? I have a topic sentence or two but I don’t have much more than that. I don’t have a conclusion either. My essay kind of just ends
Hey guys, just a little reminder-thing that if you’re feeling stressed abt college apps (I definitely am!) some of us have a group chat on groupme! Just pm me your account-associated information and I can add you to the group.
@tigerman333 The only supplement I’ve written so far is a kinda long one: 350-500 words I think is the word limit. However, I don’t really have much of an introduction (it kinda introduces the topic but is mostly a response) and pretty much no conclusion whatsoever. I think you should structure your supplement whichever way it works best for you (and meets the word count)
@tigerman333 they only let you send 1. I’m just worried because I’m not sending any.
It’s been hours since I became a Questbridge Finalist. I just wanna do the dougie.
@AnniiT lit has been easier than lang for me so far ;p
@dota2fan I think it depends on your teacher because last year, my teacher gave us credit on almost everything. This year, we mostly do discussions and majority of our grades are assessments. Plus, our teacher grades harsher than the one from last year.
@QueenOfBohemia Same
@ZBlue17 It’s letting me submit them all on common app.
Can somebody please help me out and read my Indiana and Madison essays? I’m really worried
If Indiana == Indiana University, you’re probably good. They mostly ignore the essay. >~<
shoot me a pm if you’d like to review my essays
@OMPursuit Thanks for the info! Is it any different for Kelley though?
@tigerman333 I’m not the best informed on Kelley, but again I’d think the quantitative stuff is most important.
If you’re making an appeal, that might be a different story! I know direct admission to the B school can be tough. The IU-B thread likely has better info on it.
Nevertheless, you seem to be doing good work on the essays! No doubt they’ll serve you well. Just don’t get too worked up about the IU ones unless you’re borderline/making a special written case.
For those worrying about IU, my friend wrote his essay in a day and never sent a LOR and was already accepted in early October.
@OMPursuit @soyunchico Thanks for the info guys. I am reassured and I’m 95% positive that I’ll get in.
Are any of you applying to Michigan? I’m really struggling with these essays?
Is it bad to fill out all 10 activity slots on common app?
@ZBlue17 I filled all 10 out but that’s because I didn’t want to not acknowledge all of the time and effort I put into different activities that I could honestly say I was interested in and enjoyed. I think the point is to not be President of 10 clubs/organizations…because how can you honestly dedicate yourself to all of those activities at once?
I would say list all of the activities you were involved in, with the best/most important at the top… I think they say you should only have 3-4 activities that you’re really passionate about. Otherwise, you are perceived as a resume padder or you’re spreading yourself way too thin. But I would still acknowledge every single activity you participated in during HS. They will probably paint a larger portrait of who you are and what you like.
^ sorry, just read over this. I think I’m sleep deprived and thus sound extremely repetitive and uncertain. LOL. Hopefully you get what I’m saying.
