High School Class of 2017

Serious question: are you guys annoyed when people post all of their acceptance letters on social media? Personally I get really excited to see where others have been accepted and where they might be going, but I feel like I’m one of few. Many people seem to think it comes across as obnoxious. It’s just that this is a really exciting time period for our futures and what’s wrong with being proud of one’s accomplishments?

Although the schools I’ve been accepted into so far are not my #1, they are definitely possibilities, and I want to share them. What do you guys think?

@MissSuzyQ For me, i think the best way for others to know that you got accepted is by you telling your best friend and them posting it on social media saying that ___ got accepted to __!! congrats!!
I dunno, it seems less braggy to me that way… I don’t mind when someone else posts their own acceptance but idk for me I just feel weird cause I don’t wana seem braggy
I hope that makes sense

@MissSuzyQ I think it’s a bit bothersome after maybe 4 or 5 posts. Some people took pictures of all their letters and put them together in a collage, so that it seemed cleaned up a bit. I think it’s nice to congratulate on their acceptances and hard work because we all know how long it took to get to that point.
@callmegray Interesting, because I actually dislike that. Sure you don’t want to sound braggy, but if you got into your top choice, then I think you should own it and post the acceptance (IN BOLD with lotsa !!! and emoticons haha) because you got there. It’s sweet to have a friend do it for you, but I think the admitted student needs to broadcast it to the internet

I got into MIT!!! Now, I’m just waiting for ED results to Rice because that’s the dream!

I’m honestly so surprised, my ACT was only a 31 compared the the Middle 50% of 33-35. I guess this shows how holistic college admissions are!

@MissSuzyQ - I don’t post them but my mom does, then tags me. But If I get into the #1 or #2 choice, I will definitely post. Either a Spartan or a Terp. Still waiting…

@fantasyreader Rice over MIT?

@neoking Rice is definitely the dream!!! I love everything about it

I can’t believe it’s the weekend!! Wahooo time to bang out the essays

Deferred from Rice :((

@fantasyreader congrats on MIT!! Do you have any hooks? Really good essays? That may add to the reason, which definitely means it’s well-deserved

@fantasyreader Hmm, I understand. And it’s alright man, you still have MIT on the line. Pretty good safety if you ask me hehehe

@ZBlue17 I have absolutely no hooks…I guess my essays were good but they weren’t amazing.

Here are my stats: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1890801-help-me-with-my-college-list-please-p1.html. Nothing changed from when i posted this besides my class rank moving up

Honestly, I think college admissions are holistics or else i wouldn’t have been accepted. I honestly have no idea why i was accepted

I got accepted into Fordham University with a 15k scholarship! It’s one of my last choice schools but I’m happy with the assurance it provides that I’m definitely gonna go to college in the US! Cheers!

I got accepted to my first college Towson university its honestly feels weird to say I’m going to college I’m still applying to other schools but to have one actually say yes is crazy I can’t wait to hear from my other choices.

Can anyone help plz? My cousins are twins and have pretty much the same account info on CB. One of them was able to view his score, while the other wasn’t. Every time, he tries to update his account info so that he can receive his score, he gets this message:
“The information you entered matches that of another College Board account. To protect the security of your information, you must use your original account to access College Board tools and services. Please sign in to your original account now. Forgot username or password?”

How can he get around this?

@YoohooAddict I would advise you to contact College Board directly, via email or phone, regarding this matter.
Apart from that, I don’t know what else would be the possible solution.
Good luck!

Regarding the acceptance letter postings, our class has a facebook group where us students post where we got in/are going to. Some people also post on their own facebooks as well. I feel like it’s better to post only when you know where you’re going, and then letting people know face to face about the other places that accepted you is fine.

Not sure if any of you applied ED to Tulane, but I thought this was interesting and should be shared.

@tayt04 Yikes. I can only imagine how crushing this would be.
