High School Class of 2017

honestly have no idea what colleges see in me but I got into jhu and harvey mudd today!! so psyched ^-^ (waitlisted at uchicago but) (they don’t have engineering so…) but waiting on ivy day to break my heart (but then mit already broke it r i p)

Waitlisted at Chicago. Rejected at Northwestern

Just wanted to say- guys, this group has been one of the most positive threads on CC. Some come and go, some stay for a bit, but regardless, thank you all for the journey! I know it’s cliche and cheesy but really, I had a good time (as much as you can on a college forum LOL) talking about random things and sharing both good and bad times. College decisions are scary and honestly, I never expected for things to turn out as they did. I know wherever we all end up, it’ll be amazing and another life-changing 4 years!

Congrats with JHU !!:))) @ambitiousgeek

@math3matical thanks! :^)

I agree with @ambitiousgeek … this thread is an oasis of positivity in the ridiculously stressful admissions process!

(and on another positive note, I was just accepted to Bates with my best financial aid offer yet!)

how much? @eyrar99

has anyone gotten a full ride scholarship or at least a full tuition scholarship. and also, those accepted to JHU, Harvey Mudd and Northwestern, what’s the financial aid like?

accepted to Boston University and the Honors College!! financial aid is not the greatest tho :confused:

accepted to bu!! this makes today a bit better than yesterday (i’m gonna go shopping and get bubble tea :") )

congrats to everyone on their acceptances!

@gigichuck my financial aid at UNC covers tuition, room and board and some extra (I’m in state and eligible for free lunch). I’m so delighted and thankful.

Btw guys, congrats on all of your acceptances (or waitlists lol)! It’s clear all of you have bright futures!

@thecolourist Yoo sameeeee but you are right financial aid is really bad so I might not go although I really love that school!

@QueenOfBohemia Thank you so much. I remember when you got into Grinell (did I spell that right?), and were talking about your personality lol. I made sure my personality was shining bright like diamond too haha. But we’re almost at the end of our high school journey and I’m feeling a little sad :((

I am totally psyched and shocked that I didn’t get rejected anywhere yet;;
so far I’ve been accepted to usc ucla ucsb ucd ucsd uci and boston university, deferred from stanford
which is crazy;; i was worried i wouldn’t even be able to get into any.
From now on are my harder schools so I am expecting a lot more rejections but I am already happy as of now

@callmegray Congrats! Good luck with the rest of your colleges!

@gigichuck the offer comes out to my family paying about $12,000 and most other packages have us closer to $20,000

delayed admission from BU =/

Wellesley and Williams on Wednesday…it’s nerve-wracking but at least the alliteration is cool.

@gigichuck financial aid from JHU isn’t particularly great, and Harvey Mudd releases financial aid stuff this Friday, so I’ll see about their aid package.

Guys, anyone have advice on how to deal with parents who don’t want their kid going to a specific college? I got into MIT on Tuesday and I told my parents, but they think it’s just a name. They think I’m better going off to a state college. How do I convince them that MIT is a better choice?
