High School Class of 2018

Yay! IT’S OUR 2,000TH POST! I would like to see us reach 3,000 and beyond soon. We are THE CLASS OF 2018! Also this was the year I was born lol

Umm, bump.

Bump

Just kidding. How was everyone’s holiday season? I was away for a couple of days and when I logged into CC, 140 notifications. Glad to see the thread is still thriving, and made 2,000 posts!! I’m not sure if I should read through all the comments or not… :-w

Believe me, I’ve tried it took me 4 hours @tonyk16 ! Lol

What a night… We just had a tornado touch down. :-SS
Missed my house by a couple of miles. I feel bad because it only damaged the poorer areas of the metroplex. No injuries reported yet… Now, we just have to worry about flash flooding. X_X
@ak2018 @raffie Oh, that’s still pretty weird though. Why drag you guys through a super long semester after getting back from a super long break? If it were me, my grades would probably tank. :))
@tonyk16 I still remember when we reached 1000. Wasn’t that a couple of months ago?! :-/

Feels like our thread is going to blow up just like the Juniors’ did last year. It’s about to be our time to shine! :)>-

Edit: The news just said four people died. Kind of freaked out because that could have been my family… :frowning:

Yeah I was watching CNN and heard about it @Hamlon ! Hope everyone is okay and safe!

Also, I honestly don’t know why they drag it out. I’m actually happy the semester hasn’t ended because I know I need to get my grades up. I have 1A, 1B+, and 5 B’s right now. My plan is to focus more on Chemistry, English, and World History (I have a B in each of those) and try to get an A in each of those. I had an A in English, but a B in Chemistry and World History. If I get an A in those subjects this quarter, I’ll have an A in those subjects for the semester, or at least a B+.

Hey all, new here. I’ve had a pressing issue on my mind for the past couple of weeks and I felt that I could get good advice from you all here. Long story short, I wrestle and it has been taking up too much of my time and causing my grades to drop. The drops aren’t too serious, but I’m certainly not working to my full potential(I have like 3 B’s right now as opposed to my usual straight A self). I’ve been thinking about dropping wrestling next year, junior year, because it is the most important year of high school and I’m planning a tough course schedule. I’m not entirely sure if I want to drop it though because I enjoy doing it and it’s basically my only extracurricular as of right now because it’s just that time-consuming(I wrestle year round). My love for the sport makes me want to continue, and I don’t know what I would do in terms of extracurricular activities if I don’t wrestle. What do you all think? I hope you’re all enjoying your breaks.

Hi @Caesar441 ! I went through the exact same situation. I was actually a former wrestler myself. I had quit the team in November because I wanted to focus on school and my grades. Don’t get me wrong, I love the sport and started in the 8th grade, but have come to terms that this will be my last year of wrestling. So I simply told the coach and he understood.YOUR EDUCATION COMES FIRST! That’s what he said to me and he was right. When I was wrestling, my grades dropped by two letters grades. My A’s became B’s, and my B’s became C’s. After wrestling practice, I would become so tired that I once I got home I slept until midnight and woke up and did my homework. That didn’t always work out. So if you ask me, I would say if you want to be and stay an A student, drop wrestling. However, I would recommend talking to the coach first. He might be able to give you some tips on how to keep your grades up as well as be able to see if your schedule, next year, might be too hard for you to do wrestling. Also, ask some of your teammates, as some are probably in the same boat as you. Ask them if taking a certain class is doable while doing wrestling to make sure your not blindsided next year. I would recommend, but you probably won’t do this, maybe doing another sport altogether. Wrestling is probably among one of the most demanding contact sports out there. I would say that it might be best to do something a little less time consuming. I’m planning on doing track next year in the winter instead of wrestling. I’ll be doing outdoor track this spring. Hope this helps!

My grades are all borderline and my problem is with my extracurriculars as well. I always join everything that I find interesting and it’s bad because I never really commit. D:

@caesar441 and welcome! I wish you good luck with school and all, but I do advise you to put grades to your priority as well.

@ak2018 same we have finals last week of january does your school start later then most schools like us because we start september 10th

We started August 31st. @BucketsUCSC

Same @ak2018 Finals after break as welll for that reason

@Tedalkfan I think we use the Campbell book. I’ll have to check.

@BucketsUCSC Congrats! That’s amazing!

@apple1893 My school goes back on the 4th like everyone else - which happens to be my birthday, and a Monday. :-<

@raffie My mid-terms are at around the same time as yours.

@tonyk16 I had 59 notifications when I logged on after being gone for a few days.

@Hamlon I hope you and the people in your community are okay.

@ak2018 School started for me on the 1st. We always start in September. Have you had finals yet? Mine are in a few weeks.

What did all of you get over the holidays? I got a new iPod, a speaker, 4 books, gift cards, and a fish decoration. I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday! I now can’t believe that the new year is less than a week away. <:-P

@frazzle No I haven’t. Our actual finals aren’t until the end of the year. However, I will still be loaded with tests sometime around the end of January. Our school doesn’t allow midterm/finals (unless you toke a one semester class, which I didn’t) due to the unnecessary amount of stress it causes in middle of the year. However, alot of teachers, ironically, ignore and find a loophole around the rule. Same with the rule that says that they are not recommend to give homework over breaks and weekends. Like my Chemistry teacher, who plans to have us take a Quarter 2 Test, that is accumulative, sometime around the end of January. Also HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY! My birthday was on a Sunday this year and will be on a Tuesday next year.

@ak2018 I was meaning mid-terms or the like. I have mid-terms at the end of January. Sadly at my school teachers give out homework over vacation. I have to read “Of Mice and Men” and write a few essays for English and read a chapter in my Biology textbook for (you guessed it) Biology. Thank you! Happy very belated birthday!

@Tedalkfan We use the AP* Biology book by Campbell and Reece - Ninth Edition.

@frazzledazzle I have to read Frankenstein, which is optional, and finish up my Chemistry lab. I also want to finish some work I haven’t turned in for English and Spanish. And I don’t have “mid-terms” at the end of January; I’ll have a lot of tests though. Also, I’ve heard Of Mice And Men is pretty good. Hope Frankenstein is too. Our English teacher was going to give us an essay, but he decided reading Frankenstein was enough.

Hey look! It’s the 2,018th post. Lol CLASS OF 2018

But what about the class of 2019?
