High School Class of 2018

@mutedmornings Congrats, hopefully they continue sending you mail. I’ve gotten two emails from University of Chicago, which is a dream school to every engineering major.

So, I get my current grades (a midterm report card) in a week! I am excited/scared.

@apple1893 Do you not have online portal to check your grades? :open_mouth:

Thank goodness its the weekend. I’m pooped out! Good news… I made 100s on my spanish and world history quizzes. Woohoo lol

I was gonna do the IB Diploma Programme but I asked the IB Coordinator and she says the student has to do two years of the same science (Chemistry or Physics). AP Chemistry = 11th and IB Chemistry SL = 12th

You get at least some credit, but it’s basically a ‘cloned’ HL and my school doesn’t offer it sadly. I’m planning to major in Political Science, so I don’t know.

I might be a crazy person to do this but AP Chemistry after Bio, is a crazy idea right? I took a Chemistry Prep Course (A course to prepare you for Chemistry (the general course) for six weeks and I still have the notes and resources)

Stoichiometry, Sig Figs, Balancing Equations and such.

There is no honors course for Chemistry, which sucks. But my school isn’t strict about AP’s (there are no prior requirements, from which I heard of)

I get a lot of emails from Bard College at Simon’s Rock which is weird cause I have no intention of finishing HS this year. I also got an email from University of Oregon (no thanks-- I want a big city) and I got a letter in the mail from Stanford :smiley:

Hey, everyone! Is anyone applying to any summer programs?

@rousseau889 girls who code!!

@raffie cool! I’m applying to Yale Young Global Scholars and the Iowa Young Writers Studio.

@HelloThereHola No, it goes against our schools “philosophy”

dude how do i get rid of all this college junkmail i’ve been getting like 20 emails a day!?!?!?
who said they could access my sat/psat scores?!?!??!

@apple1893 aw yeahhh B)

@cxprus AP Bio is normally followed by AP Chem at my school. If you think you can handle it, go for it! We don’t have an honors chemistry either, unfortunately.

@nyuhopeful44 Is it from the PSAT Student Search? I’ve been getting a lot of college emails from that recently.

@rousseau889 I’m going to write an essay for the GreatBooks scholarship. I can go if I win it. The odds are against me, but who knows what will happen.

@apple1893 lol I think you meant to tag @wonderfulreads

i keep getting emails from colleges too. At this point, its spam all to me. There’s a lot from little colleges that I dont care about too.

@hellotherehola same!! I didn’t get ANY emails from any good colleges

@LeopardFire Honors Bio, not AP.

@mutedmornings Yeah, our class went in depth into the story. We also found out that the tripod with a fire on it had 3 legs. Which we allegorically thought meant the “Trinity”. The sun, Jesus Christ, and God. We never got to say why the tripod blew out at the end though. Like we didn’t allegorically figure out what it meant.

@LeopardFire I do take Honors classes before AP’s. I’m taking three Honors classes, but only plan to take one AP class next year.

@apple1893 I agree with @wonderfulreads You should most likely have an online to check your grades. It helps to know what grade you have in each class.

@cxprus Our Honors Chemistry teacher, recommended that while it’s not preferred, if you want to go to AP Biology before AP Chemistry you may go right ahead. However she said it’s best not to do if with AP Physics before AP Chemistry, unless you’re planning on becoming an engineer.

@LeopardFire I might also do that scholarship, if I have time.

@ak2018 No we don’t. I wish we did, but they don’t approve of it.

Wow! @apple1983 This is the 21st century and they’re not allowing you to check your grades online. Even my parents had bi-monthly grade reports. It’s so much easier instead of asking your teachers for your grade.

HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS ANNOYING COLLEGE JUNK MAIL

Did you sign up for The PSAT College Search? Because here is the opt-out form: https://student.collegeboard.org/student-search-service/opt-out
