@ak2018 I understand that. Living in CT, we usually get plenty of snow days, but so far we haven’t had one yet.
Lol Idk guess Mother Nature decided that one! @thetex
@apple1893 Honestly I’d be fine with 5 snow days.
I’m better with 3. 5 seems more than enough in my opinion. @ak2018
What is accelerated Algebra 2 @apple1893 i guess you just have to score exceptionally high on the SAT/ACT then what’d you get on the PSAT
@apple1984 @ak2018 The classes sort of meshed together; first semester was Algebra 2 and secind semester is Trig/ Pre-Calc. It is definitely getting harder, but the material is either you know it or you don’t.
@Hamlon Thank you for starting the African Americam of 2018 students thread
@univbound101 That’s how are Algebra II/Trig is at our school. I’m not in in thought! I’m in Algebra II.
@averagebean I’m going to apply to all of the ivies except cornell but I would be shocked if I actually get in (I have ZERO hooks-- white middle class girl with two parents who went to college-lol)
I meant to join the SNHC last night but ended up watching Grease Live instead lol. Did anyone else watch it?
Lol @nyuhopeful44 I was going to watch it because of Keke Palmer, Jordan Fisher, Carlos Penavega, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Vanessa Hugdens. I was waiting for weeks but I slept and woke up once it ended lol. How was it?
@nyuhopeful44 I think it depends on the school/teacher.
Happy early birthday!!! <:-P
@averagebean I find out on Wednesday how I did for the first semester.
I’m aiming for Harvard, Caltech, or Dartmouth. Caltech is my dream school. There are other schools on my list, though.
@ak2018 I think I have AT LEAST 3 mental breakdowns a week. Perks of lots of schoolwork and having to present at the state science fair in 48 days.
I emailed some Harvard faculty regarding my project and observing there next weekend, and I already got 1 response! He said it wasn’t his area of expertise, but that my project was great! I’m so excited to hear back from the others! One of them works on the Kepler mission.
@ak2018 It was really good!
Congrats @frazzledazzle
Hopefully, it will come back on some time @nyuhopefull44 Also, just wanted to say that my 89 year old guidance counselor was a graduate of NYU. She raves about it.
I’m finally going back to school tomorrow.
For anyone in Precalc how is it similar/different to Honors Algebra 2 w/trig?
@ak2018 that’s cool about your GC! I’m going on a campus tour this summer but I’ve been to NYC and I think it’s perfect for me.
@nyuhopeful44 Yeah. She used to live in Manhattan back in 1926 and graduated NYU in 1944. She moved to Virginia back after she graduated and then became a World Studies (What they called World History back then) teacher. She has since become a guidance counselor. She is so nice and so dedicated. She is always the first one to arrive at 4am in the morning and the last one to leave at 7pm at night. I know I can always talk to her. She is literally guidance counselor goals. She is always the one at my school that organizes in-school meet and greets with people in different career fields and went to different colleges throughout the state. I remember I went to an Engineering seminar where two gentleman, who were engineers and had graduated from UVA and Virginia Tech, came to our school and told us about the engineering workplace and what they expect in an engineer. It was so informative. She’s also the one that finds very interesting scholarships and puts them in a spreadsheet she calls “The Money Tree”. We even named the auditorium after her. She maybe 90 years old, but I really she lives enough to see me become a very successful man.
@nyuhopeful44 I’m also currently watching Grease Live! It’s really good so far!
@BucketsUCSC Universities will understand that I am not given those opportunities, so I will work hard otherwise.
Not that good of a day, I got three quizzed back.
US History: 87%
English 10: 85%
Algebra 2: 95% (Highlight of my day)
Well, just got to recover on this Biology quiz tomorrow. It is going to be super hard, but I’m down.
