@ak2018 oh my god im also 15 and my bday is also on may 10th lol
Lol @nyuhopeful44 So many February birthdays.
@LeopardFire It really will be. Turning 16 will definitely not be like in the movies.
@neonerudite Lol! Yeah same birthdays. I guess well be celebrating together. I’m gonna hate it when we have AP tests during our birthday. The AP U.S. Government, AP Spanish, and AP French tests will be on that day.
@ak2018 im so happy im not taking any of those lol. But i have my AP lang test the next day, im crying
@neonerudite how is AP Lang? Is it hard?
@nyuhopeful44 i don’t think it’s that hard; just learning how to write the three essays, some reading, etc. I’m not worried at all about the test
Im 16 and my birthday is September 10th. I feel old compared to y’all lol
@neonerudite okay thanks. From what I’ve heard Lang is easier so I’m going to save it for senior year
O yeah, my birthday is on May 21st (holllaaaa gemini/taurus cusp) and I’m 15. Still young and not yet legal age of consent.
Just finished my english essay! We had to compare To Kill A Mockingbird to the movie The Help. I thought both were really good, I highly recommend them!
Harvard won’t become the most applied to school in america, if you guys were talking about college confidential maybe. Reason being Harvard is an unrealistic dream school that most kids feel isnt worth the stress and money of another application because they know they won’t get in. The most applied to schools in the nation have consistently been UC’s because every KID IN CALIFORNIA will apply here i can attain to this as any student even with an aspiration to go to college in my high school will apply to a UC, because of how broad the system is in expectations
Yay people actually post now.
AP Spanish is going great! 93.2% right now in the class.
I just called most of the UCs + Stanford today in terms of AP vs. IB spiel. I’ll tell y’all later once I get climb this pile of work.
@wcao9311 Welcome back! I can only imagine how many notifications you had when you finally logged in. :))
@neonerudite Yeah, you know you can check the dates for the 2017 AP exams, right? They already have them up.
Class ranks came out today and I’m 98/493 which makes me in the top 20%
Hey, what do you guys think of my schedule for junior year?
AP English Language and Composition
Honors Precalculus and Trigonometry
AP Physics I
AP U.S. History
Honors Spanish 4
Marching Band
Digital Imaging
It’s a rather heavy course load in my opinion. Some of my peers will already be taking AP Physics II, AP Calculus, and multiple AP science classes. I usually have a pretty busy schedule. Marching band rehearsal every morning at 7am.
Music in general takes a lot of my time as I’m in involved in other groups like youth symphony, all state band, pit orchestras, etc. I play multiple instruments and really enjoy music. My parents support my hobbies but doesn’t see music as a serious career. Honestly, I don’t see it being a great career option either because of all the competition. I play all the woodwinds except for bassoon.
@geekygeek your schedule looks great!
Hi guys!
I’m a sophomore, and I recently dropped Honors Geometry for Regents Geometry (the lower/non-honors class) because it seriously got way too hard and I felt like I was drowning, haha. I’m just worried about how colleges will perceive the fact that I dropped an honors course to a non-honors course, and if this will hurt my chances at possibly Cornell (I live in Ithaca, where Cornell is located so we’re a feeder school, and they accept around 50ish% of applicants from my high school each year) or a school like NYU, Boston University or Carnegie Mellon. This is the only non-honors class I’ve ever taken in my high school career, and I don’t plan on taking any in the future.
My schedule now is
Algebra 2 AB-Honors (A)
English 10-Honors (A)
Spanish 3-Honors (A-)
Chemistry-Honors (A-)
Global 2-Honors (A)
Gym, lol (A+)
Art (A+)
Geometry (non honors)- (A-)
before, i had a B- in honors geometry, and I was failing a majority of the tests.
In freshman year, I took
Algebra 1 Honors (A-)
English 9 Honors (A+)
Spanish 2 Honors (B+)
Global 2 Honors (A)
Art (A-)
Biology Honors (A)
Gym (A)
My plan for Junior year is still in the works, but it’ll most likely look something like this
Precalc AB Honors
Spanish 4 Honors
AP Bio
AP Language and Composition
and either APUSH or AP Psych
and most likely an elective which I’m not sure about yet. I am determined to get a 3.9-4.0 junior year to show an upwards trend.
Freshman year cumulative GPA was a 3.71 UW, 4.32 W
and for this year, sophomore year, I’m estimating it to be a 3.85 UW, 4.25ish or 4.3 W.
I do lots of extracurricular activities such as flying (yes, planes), tennis, VP of key club, yearbook, MUN, volunteering at a science kids museum and a summer job. Also, this summer I have a 2nd summer job/internship type thing at the hotel school at Cornell.
What do you guys think my chances are in terms of colleges, and where do you guys think I actually have a decent shot at getting into?
You are doing great so far! Just make sure to do extremely well in Geometry non-honors! It is great that you have a lot of EC’s but try to become more of a leader rather than a leader, and do only what you are passionate about. Colleges can see if you are just doing things for the college application rather than for your own good.
@waterfall27 u also have Algebra 2 honors so u should be fine
