High School Class of 2018

@ak2018 Yaaaass violin. We have a beautiful German handcrafted one in my family (a legacy from my great grandfather) that I use but unfortunately, I haven’t touched it in a month haha.

I read The Paladin Prophecy series and it was a bit unoriginal to me. Too much like I am Number Four but Never Fall Down was pretty good.

@awesomepolyglot Unfortunately, I don’t remember. I rented my violin from a local music store for about $40/month.

@averagebean I’ve actually haven’t read Number Four. That’s probably why it felt original to me. It was the first book I’ve ever read like it.

@averagebean I wish I still had my violin. I loved playing on it and practicing with it. I was the second best person in my begineers’ class in the 6th grade. I, unfortunately, ended up switching to Choir, which was a big mistake. Half of the people in choir were only there because our middle school forced us to take a music class. Everyone who doesn’t want to play or doesn’t have enough money buy an instrument was either put in Music Appreciation or Choir. Mainly choir. It sucked and so many people just goofed off and wouldn’t sing, mainly the boys.

I also wish I had my own violin and play again. I was watching a couple of videos of people playing the violin and I wanted to get one so bad. I just really don’t have the time. Back in 6th grade, I did, but not now.

I play the oboe but I’ve always wanted to learn the cello. It’s a shame my school district doesn’t have strings :frowning:

@ak2018 Hopefully, you can get back into it soon! The violin is a beautiful instrument when played right. Check second hand sites to buy a used violin. You can usually get a sturdy one for about $70-$80 which is basically 2 months of violin rentals only you get to keep this one forever. My family treasures music A LOT hence why we have so many instruments in my home and a good portion of our beginner-intermediate instruments are second hand are in excellent shape!

@mamaba The cello is really fun! I only played it for a few months before focusing entirely on piano and flute (my main two) for recitals. However, the oboe sounds suuuuper cool.

Hi guys what AP exams are you all taking this year? I am taking Calc AB and AP Comp Sci. I am also planning to take Physics 2 (took physics 1 last year). I should have finished physics 2 last year too, but didn’t.

@polarisgirl APUSH, AP Bio, AP Euro (self) AP Psych (self)

@polarisgirl none :frowning: my school doesn’t offer APs until 11th grade and I don’t have time to teach myself

APUSH/ AP Bio. How’s self studying other AP Exams?

@polarisgirl AP Euro, AP Lit, and AP Physics 1! How did you feel about the physics exam last year? That’s the exam I’m most worried about!

@polarisgirl My school doesn’t offer AP’s. :((

Thanks @averagebean I’ll try my best to take a class or two on it in college. I just really don’t have the time now, and probably won’t have the time unless I take it in college. I can kind of hear my dad laughing now. Taking a music class while also taking Engineering classes probably would seem really random. He’ll probably tell me I can make better use of that spot by taking more required classes and potentially graduate earlier. But I definitely want to take it.

@ak2018 LOL I feel. I’m balancing waayy too many curriculars + IB program. Competitive track has practices 5 days a week, I have to teach piano once a week, I have debate club, newspaper club and a whole lotta volunteer organizations. I barely have time to practice my instruments anymore minus the time I spend online.

I mean, I’d rather watch a YouTube video than play the triangle no matter how amazing I am at the triangle. #TriangleLyfe #IAmATriangler #TrianglersOnly #RealTrianglerHours #InstaTriangle

Is anyone else on Spring break?

Yes, until the 21st.

@apple1893 You’re from CT, right? When are you taking the CAPT test? I am tomorrow, I thought all schools were taking it on the same day. :o
