High School Class of 2018

I guess since you’re aspiring to be admitted to a private school going to a school like mine would be more beneficial however for me someone that will most likely attend a UC campus it doesn’t make a difference which school I go to for example I can go to a school that gives kids A’s simply for turning in their work or I could go to a school like mine and if all else is equal since that student has a higher GPA he will be admitted.

I just got elected to be the Lieutenat Governor of My Key Club Division! Each state is divided into so many divisions (Michigan has 16.) And I am in charge of my division, which has 14 clubs.

@nyuhopeful44 Congrats!

So guys, I’ve decided that I’ll wait until this summer to take my permit test. This summer, I’ll be taking HPE II and my PE teacher, who will be one of the two teachers teaching it in summer, said that the first two units of HPE II help you to pass the permit test. I just feel like I’m trying to cram all of this information into my head, and I’m not really learning it. My dad said the same thing. After the week I’ve had, I think I should use Spring Break as just what it’s supposed to be used for. Break time! I’ve learned some really great info about road signs though. At this point, if I try to get my permit by mid-July, I’ll get my license by the beginning of the school year.

Also, do you guys plan to keep this thread active over the summer? I’d really love to keep talking with you guys.

@BucketsUCSC To be honest, I’d rather go to a less prestigious school. One that’s hella ghetto and the average grade is like 60%. That way, you’ll be top of the class in no time LOL

.

@nyuhopeful44 That is awesome!!! Congratulations!

@ak2018 YES! We have to keep this thread alive during summer. So we can discuss how Summer is going and plans for Junior Year.

Also, do you guys plan on doing Chance Treads? I feel if I post one I’ll get a bunch of negative comments lol. I feel if I am to do any chance it would be on this thread, because I feel more comfortable reading what you all think rather than a bunch of strangers.

@apple1893 Most of us have kind of voted against doing a Chance thread. I honestly feel like they mainly do more harm than they’re worth.

@apple1893 I agree with @ak2018 on this one. Many colleges look at your application holistically. Why listen to a bunch of high schoolers who don’t even know what certain universities are looking for anyway? If a school needs more writers than musicians one year, then all the band geeks, orch dorks, and choir qu**rs are out of luck for that year. I think most of the time people do chance me threads to intimidate others anyways. What would happen if some random strangers on the internet who only know you by vague stats say that there is no way you’re going to get in? Are you just going to give up all hope?! I think it’s absolutely silly to give anyone on chance threads a second thought. The best advice I can give is you do you.
Edit: I think the only useful application for chance threads I’ve been able to find is deciding if you should apply to a school ED/EA/RD. But even then…

@averagebean same

guys im taking my permit test on Wednesday and im super nervous, mainly because its a test and i’m a bad test taker :)) I heard its really easy though :slight_smile:

Also what are you guy’s plans for this summer? Im just attending my school’s medical academy for 2 weeks and then spending the rest of my summer relaxing, sleeping, summer reading and maybe prepping a bit for the SAT. :slight_smile:

Hey y’all! I haven’t been over here in forever!

@premedny I’m going to a science camp and on a mission trip for 1 week each, back to back. I’m going to try to volunteer at the hospital and will volunteer some at the therapeutic horseback riding center if they do anything over the summer. Looks like I’ll probably have a new horse to ride starting this summer so of course plenty of riding and hopefully showing. I’m also going the beach for two weeks, one with friends and family and one withe just family. I’m going to be pretty busy, but I’m one of those people who goes nuts if I don’t have anything to do haha.

@premednyy You’ll pass, don’t worry. Everyone I know has said it’s half things you already know and half common sense. I can’t wait to take mine in May/June! I’ve wanted to drive for so long.

Hey guys. Lol I’m at the public library today! Any books I should get? Lol I just turned in my application to be a Summer Quest Volunteer. In my county, every summer we have a summer reading program for kids and teens. The kids and teens must read a certain number of books to gain prizes. The program has a different theme each year. Along with the program, over the summer, the different libraries host events for all ages. I loved there events lat year, which included a carnival, storytime for the kids, and anime and video game day for the teens. I got to volunteer for all of these events as well. It was really fun! It brings me memories of when I was a kid in the program. Now I’m helping kids make memories for the kids themselves by being a volunteer for the fifth gear in a row now! One of the many reasons why I can’t wait for Summer to start. This year’s gonna be great.

OMG! Gordon Korman’s Third Book in “The Hypnotists” Series came out on July 28th of last year and I didn’t know about it. OMG! I thought he was working on another book when all this time I was the one behind! I’ve already put that book on hold. It’s called The Dragonfly Effect by Gordon Korman. I’ve also put Rogue, third book in the Paladin Prophecy, by Mark Frost on hold as well. This was definitely a good visit. I’ll be here for another hour.

My not-very-fun schedule for next year has arrived - yay. I had to quit sports performance as it’s not an “IB approved” course like wyd.

Math 30 SL
History HL & Social Studies 20 IB
Biology HL
Literature HL & English Language Arts 20 IB
French 20-9Y IB
Music HL (might switch to SL because I am a lazy person)
Chemistry SL
Physics 20 (will take in summer because ain’t nobody got time for that)
Theory of Knowledge

Probably the most rigorous course at school. It disgusts me. Anything for university though, amirite?

One can say that International BaccalaureATE my life and I baccalaureHATE it. IB crying all night.

How many AP exams are you guys taking this year? I’m taking World (class @ school) and Env Sci (self study)!

None this year @lindsgal
