High School Class of 2018

Also 5,000 post <:-P :))

@neptuna Lol that sounds like something I would do. But do people even still use LinkedIn anymore? :)) Too bad I’m discouraged, by my parents, to get a job. “Wait till the summer,” they say. “Your first priority should be to get good grades,” they say.

@reid799 I was going to enter the stock market when I was older and had more money! The first national bank of ak2018 (my wallet :)) ) currently has a balance of $10. :)) :((

My day was pretty great yesterday. 1st and 3rd period went pretty well. In 5th period, we had a quiz on Moles and Stoichiometry and my mathematical anxiety kicked in. There were 18 questions I, somehow, got 14 of them correct. When I was taking the quiz, I thought I got a lot of them wrong. I got a 78%. There was one question that was so simple, yet everyone got wrong. It wasn’t even a moles question. We thought it asked “How many atoms are in one mole of Fe2O3 (Iron (II) Oxide)?,” when it was really asking “How many atoms are in one molecule of Fe2O3 (Iron (II) Oxide)?”. The answer was 5. The answer I, and everyone else put, was a number in scientific notation.

Our classes on Friday were cut 10 minutes each to make room for the spring pep rally. Our spring pep rally was this week, so was Spirit Week, and it was pretty fun. On Friday, the majority of people I saw were wearing yellow (our sophomore class’s class color). The pep rally sucked, as it was only 30 minutes. The juniors won anyway We took second place, while the seniors took third.

Also, I this video on YouTube, and since AP exams are two weeks away, I thought I might show it to you guys. It’s a pretty funny Frozen parody called “(F-word) It All”. It’s about studying for college finals and then finally not caring about it. It’s so relatable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYsrV3zGd0c

Here’s the one created by another person: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOaqiCBum2w

@ak2018 Hold your horses lol. We still have some posts to go till we hit 5,000.

Also, the grading period ended for us yesterday. There will be a teacher workday on Monday, so grades will be sent in on Monday. Not all of the grades have been put in, but here are mine currently:

Computer Math - A - 95%
Pre-AP English 10 - A - 93%
Pre-AP World History - B - 84%
Spanish I - A - 93%
Pre-AP Chemistry - B+ - 87%
Algebra II - A - 91%
HPE 1 - B+ - 87%

I was shooting for all A’s, but I, unfortunately, came up short. I’ve been stressed and I’ve been pushing myself to get all A’s Congrats to all of you who did. I expect my grade will change all of my classes that I have a B+ or B in. More grades will be put into the system on Monday.

Lol @apple1893 thanks for catching that. I meant to say 4,500th post.

Got accepted into a summer program!

Congrats @Muufeen Which one?

@mufeen That is awesome! I am still waiting… Which one

@ak2018 @apple1893 UC Davis COSMOS Biomedical Science! Not nearly as prestigious as RSI or other summer programs, but I’m excited.

I wanted to apply to different summer programs like UC Davis’s Young Scholars Program, but I wasn’t old enough and every other program was way too competitive.

Y’all I am about to die. Things are sooooooo stressful. This is a reminder for everyone to take a deep breath and hold out until June for summer vacation.

@HelloThereHola Well I hope you live! :)) I hope we all live (mentally) to the last day of school. This is starting to feel like The Hunger Games!

@Muufeen Congratulations anyway!

Okay guys. I just thought of something we could do. Protected GPA for Next Year. Since most of us know what classes we are going to take next year, let’s try and predict what grades and GPA we’ll get.

UW - Unweighted
W - Weighted

Grades I predict I’m going to get:

Engineering Explorations I/Robotics - UW
Predicted Grade: A

Principles of Engineering - W (1 Point Bump)
Predicted Grade: A

AP Chemistry - W (1 Point Bump)
Predicted Grade: B

U.S. and Virginia History - UW
Predicted Grade: A

Functions/Trigonometry - W (1 Point Bump)
Predicted Grade: A

Spanish II - UW
Predicted Grade: A

AP English Language - W (1 Point Bump)
Predicted Grade (At Least): B

Predicted GPA (W): 4.29
Predicted GPA (UW): 3.71

Comments: I’m definitely expecting a lot of GPA bumps next year. As you can see 4 out of 7 of my classes will be weighted.

@Muufeen COSMOS is a really good program! Congrats!

Today was a terrible day. I was going to my school to go on a bus to attend a conference but then I am told that the bus will be at a different school. I didn’t make it, so I couldn’t go. UGH I AM SO ANGRY

AP US Government: B+
AP Economics: A
Medical Career Foundations: A
Honors Precalc: A-
AP Lit: A
Medical Interventions: A
AP Chemistry: B+
GPA: 3.67
School doesn’r weight, but I think my weighted GPA would be around 4.5

AP Calc AB/BC: A
AP Lang: B
AP Physics: A
H World History: A
H French 4: A
Forensics: A // H Contemporary Voices: A
Study Hall: N/A

1st semester: 4.57
2nd semester: 4.64

At my school AP or an online college class is a 5.0, honors is a 4.5, and standard is 4.0 if you get all A’s

Any one have a problem with age?
I have a really late birthday (December 23), which is technically after the cut off, but I still made it into the class of 2018. However, because of this I’m younger than people in my grade. (Second youngest person was born in August) My concern is I can’t be eligible for things other people are like internships, jobs, volunteer positions etc.
Would it be out of the question to register for a internship even though they are asking for 16+? They have accepted sophomores before.
I’m just worried I’m going to be at a disadvantage for extracurricular things due to my age. There are freshmen older than me.
