Also, I got my course request verification paper in the mail today. I’ve been signed up for:
= Weighted
+AP Chemistry
+AP English Language and Composition
+Functions/Trigonometry
+PLTW Principles of Engineering
Engineering Explorations I/Robotics
Spanish II
U.S. and Virginia History
We’re getting a new engineering teacher next year. I hope he/she is great. I’m kind of really excited to take both Engineering classes next year. Taking POE will be my first exposure to high school Physics. I haven’t done a lick of Physics since the 8th grade. I feel like my least favorite class would be History.
What do you think your guy’s favorite and least favorite class is going to be next year.
OMG Congratulations @Hamlon <:-P <:-P <:-P Your hard work and determination throughout the year has brought you here. I wish I had that opportunity, but this should be good for you!
@ak2018 very jealous of AP chem!! my ideal junior schedule was going to be
AP chemistry
AP biology
AP Lang & comp
AP us history
alg 2 honors
medical skills
but now it’s
AP biology
AP Lang & comp
AP us history
physics honors
medical skills
alg 2 honors
AP art history
sadly the AP chem class only had 9 people sign up, so it’s probably not happening anyways, I’m replacing AP chem with physics honors and self studying AP art history I’m going to dual enroll in a gen chem class senior year I think, and maybe a physics one too…
my favorite class subject wise will probably be AP bio. my favorite class work wise will probably be medical skills, because we get to go on a lot of field trips
my least favorite work wise is definitely going to be AP art history (although I love the subject), and subject wise is going to be algebra 2. I hate math, and I’m really bad at it ://
I’m so nervous for the APUSH exam on Friday. I keep forgetting what I study, and I’m on a late schedule right now so I have no idea how I’m gonna wake up at 6:30 and feel rested. I’m sure I’ll at least get a 3, but on my perfectionist scale that’s equivalent to a 2. I’m a little more confident for AP Econ, but I’m not sure. I’m just trying to calm down and tell myself there’s nothing wrong with getting 3’s especially since these are my first AP exams.
@BucketsUCSC At a lot of colleges, you would actually just self-report AP exams on the application. I know at Virginia Tech, they have outright said that AP test scores are not a factor at all in their admissions process. Other colleges also allow you to send them in.
Oh and just a tip I’ve heard: If you’re going to self-report AP test scores, either report all of the scores or none at all. I just read that this one Harvard college admissions counselor actually recommends to self-report ALL AP tests scores. Only choosing to report the good test scores (3 or better) is considered dishonest. This was a quote from a CC thread on the topic:
“One thread I saw on the Harvard Forum of College Confidential in 2007 by an admitted member of Harvard class of '11 said he heard from a Harvard admission officer who visited his high school that an applicant should report ALL applicable scores, that is all scores asked for in application questions. He said that cherry-picking which scores to self-report was viewed as dishonest and was more harmful to an application than simply listing, say, a few low scores along with higher scores. There are recent threads in various college forums that seem to give the same picture of the admission process: admission officers sometimes admit students with low scores who have other desirable characteristics, but they are quite annoyed by students who aren’t forthcoming.”
@ihavenoideawow My school usually has at least four AP Chemistry classes a year. We’re kind of a science magnent school. Specifically for Biotechnology. Algebra II is pretty okay. Half the year, for us anyway, was literally a review of Algebra I, with a few new concepts.
Now about my schedule… I wasn’t planning on taking choir next year so idk what to do… I could drop AP Physics or MAYBE take us history over next summer (not sure if my counselor will let me though…) So
Schedule 1: Schedule 2:
-AP Chemistry -AP Chemsitry
-AP Lang -AP Lang
-AP Calc BC -AP Calc BC
-French 3 -French 3
-US History -AP Physics
-Choir (Treble) -Choir (treble) US History over summer 2017
I really want to take AP physics but if they don’t let me do US History over the summer will my GPA/course load still be competitive with only 3 AP’s???
I’ve noticed you guys are new to this thread, and CC as well. I’d like to say welcome aboard and offer you a proper welcome.
Hello and welcome to CC’s official High School Class of 2018 Thread. Here you can interact with other users who have the same high level of interest about school as you. Here, we talk about almost everything associated with school and our daily lives as well. During this time of the year, as I’ve seen so far, we’ve been talking about course selections for next year as well getting ready for junior year. We’ve also talked about school sports and clubs, current grades, internships, summer programs, scholarships, and so much more. Anything you can think of pertaining to school, specifically sophomore year centered, we’ve probably talked about it. This thread, as I’ve seen throughout the past three months, can also be used to talk about personal issues as well. The students on here a very supportive bunch and have helped me figure out problems as well as help me through some of the most stressful times during this year. So, this thread can also be used as a way to de-stress and relax. If you have any questions about anything pertaining to this thread, just reply. Hopefully, you’ll stay for the long haul all the way until graduation. I’ve been on this thread for a few months now and I’ve got to say, it can be pretty addicting. Hope you have a nice time on this thread. Virtual Handshake
@ak2018 well some people don’t take the exam for every AP class they’re in, so I doubt that colleges will automatically assume you’re cherry picking your scores. Although I do agree if you leave a large number of your scores blank, it might look suspicious.
So, it’s official… Trump is now the Republican presidential nominee (Ted Cruz aka the Zodiac Killer just dropped out) and is now one step closer to being president. I’m slightly concerned with the direction this country is going in. I would not blame the young people who won’t vote in this election. All I can say is, this world as we know it is going to change this November!
So, today at track practice I was feeling weak. We did 6 400m’s and by the sixth, I collapsed. I could barely lift myself off the ground, and my arms were shaking. Looks like I have to work harder tomorrow.
